Let's get this thing going!- Ireland, on 11/07/2007, -2/+5You got the ball rolling, but Zak has created a monster!!!
Seriously though, great job guys. :P - iFungus, on 11/07/2007, -2/+11Very good job, but you might want to harden that server of yours pretty soon.
- nreynolds, on 11/07/2007, -1/+8in fact, please "harden that server of yours" several minutes ago, if possible.

- Audacitor, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3This is one of those rare times when someone can take credit for something and not get dugg down.
Seriously dude, awesome site. Looking forward to some awesome docks in the future.

- thekurst, on 11/07/2007, -4/+6The auto dock replacer app didin't work for me. And just replacing the images doesn't work, you MUST delete the old files first. Just a tip. Otherwise, I love my new dock!
- zdiddy85, on 11/07/2007, -1/+6Worked for me. Wonder what the deal is?
- Kerrigore, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3For me, whenever I tell it to replace the files, it asks me to authorize it, but then it doesn't seem to actually replace them. What gives?
EDIT: Oh, never mind, I see what you mean about deleting the old files first now.
- Kerrigore, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3For me, whenever I tell it to replace the files, it asks me to authorize it, but then it doesn't seem to actually replace them. What gives?
- Kerrigore, on 11/07/2007, -2/+1I can't get it to work manually or with the replacer =/
- Audacitor, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3No, don't delete the old images. If life as a geek has taught me anything, it's to make backups of everything, no matter what it is. Better just to move them to another directory. For example, I created a folder inside Dock.app/Contents/Resources named "Dock Themes". In there I just put each theme in its own separate folder, including the original.
- Shiner6, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1They're also on the site for those who don't back them up :)
- Invid, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2You don't have to replace them. Simply re-naming them is enough. IE. "scurve.png" to "scurve-old.png" after you give yourself write permissions to the directory.

http://i24.tinypic.com/veccb8.png- manvsmonster, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2I just downloaded your dock. It looks really nice. Is it possible to make a version without the s-curve so that it is just a glassy black surface?
EDIT: At that, how about a glossy white version, too! - mozzep, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1indeed, that might be one of the best.
- mozzep, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2doesn't look very good on the edges once you actually install it though.

- britkev1, on 11/07/2007, -2/+4Great collection, thanks for bringing it all together in one place.
- thenome, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3Looks a lot better than the weird default look.
- craprock, on 11/07/2007, -3/+3When I saw ripples, I first thought it said nipples and then got really excited.
- ChromaVita, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3You should put some more open app indicators on there. Maybe have a section for indicators and a section for docks? This is what my dock looks like:

I think the green lights are a little easier to see. - apologeticus, on 11/07/2007, -1/+5I've been trying to log on to this site for a couple of days now. Never works. For a site "created by diggers" it sure doesn't handle the digg effect very well.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 11/07/2007, -1/+4YAY!
- MacintoshSauce, on 11/07/2007, -12/+0Check out these Dock graphics...

- consonance, on 11/08/2007, -2/+4As a Windows user, why would I want a dock?
[serious question, not rhetorical]- TheWorm, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3It would make launching apps in windows a little less tedious. Personally I think that an os x dock would just look tacky on windows.
- skyshock1, on 11/08/2007, -1/+4Silly windows user. You already have one. You just call it the Task Bar. It does the same *****.
- zakatov, on 11/07/2007, -2/+3only much slower and waay uglier
- rubbers0ul, on 11/07/2007, -2/+1Not entirely sure, and it seems like it would be a huge waste of resources. Besides if you really wanted a dock wouldn't you just get a mac?
- consonance, on 11/08/2007, -2/+4As a Windows user, why would I want a dock?
- aquaknot, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3Great site! Thanks for all your hard work!
- engion3, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2running the black one and its sexy.
- NWFackler, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5Jet Black is lookin real nice.
- thejesse2442, on 11/07/2007, -0/+0i don't know if this would be possible because I am not particularly familiar with automator workflows or the creation of applications. But do you think it might be possible to create a simple automator workflow that switched the dock periodically between different dock "folders" you kept in a folder. Any ideas?
- dan21328, on 11/07/2007, -2/+12Another nice site...
http://www.leoparddocks.net/- Shiner6, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Damn! Forgot to register .net :)
- ThankTheCheese, on 11/10/2007, -0/+36Will 10.5.1 brick Macs that have customised their dock? ;)
- spargett, on 11/07/2007, -1/+2Hahahaha
- MonkeyFarts, on 11/10/2007, -0/+7Dude, don't jinx it!
- locke459, on 11/07/2007, -4/+1in my opinion, the clean look of the leopard dock when it's on the right or left side of the screen is the best. 2D and simple, plus the open application indicators are easier to see. in terminal, enter:
% defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES
% killall Dock- Laxaloot, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3you do realize that that information is on the site too, right?
- insomniacal, on 11/07/2007, -1/+3Just opened my new 20", 2.4GHz iMac, installed Leopard ... and immediately went hunting for a new dock skin. Yikes, what a mistake by Apple. It didn't look bad in the store ... but then I wasn't planning to work on it there.
- skyshock1, on 11/07/2007, -4/+3Quicksilver & Alt+Tab > Dock.
Screen space robbing Docks FTL- Kinsbane, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Guess you haven't figured out yet you can hide the Dock.
It'll even automagically appear when you put your mouse where the Dock is!
- Kinsbane, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Guess you haven't figured out yet you can hide the Dock.
- thejesse2442, on 11/07/2007, -1/+0I created a automator application that changes the dock after a certain period of time, but for some reason i cant get the time in between changes to be more than the "pause" option for 59 seconds. Could someone maybe give me a tip? Please.
- avihappy, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Add another pause?
- thetamind, on 11/08/2007, -0/+0Forget about putting pauses in the application itself. Just launch the application using cron and let it do what it does best.
- celerityfm, on 02/18/2008, -0/+1There is a LOOP tool in automator that you can use in front of the "pause" feature- you can specify in minutes how long you want it to loop for. Check it out!
- ahvi, on 11/07/2007, -3/+6More godawful looking docks!
- spargett, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5I like the effort thats being put into this. Although, I will say there still isn't one that catches my eye yet. Glossy Black by Daniel Kestler is by far the best replacement of the bunch. My personal preference is still using the "side dock" as my main dock.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottpargettphoto/186 ... - sherkaner, on 11/07/2007, -3/+7There's a fine line between helpfully collecting links to stuff, and grabbing a bunch of other people's work and throwing it up on an ad-pushing site that you try to get dugg. I was never asked if it was okay to host my dock designs by this guy.
- Shiner6, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2This is not an ad pushing site - ask anyone who has been with it since the start, just added the ads today to help defer some of the costs. Let me know what docks are yours and I will either 1) Remove them 2) Link them back to you.
- darkvad0r, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Diggers worth of that title use adblock [/ducks] :p
- yaroslavik, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5"idea from digg, created by a digger, designs submitted by diggers." WTF, the new era of FDBD! ( For Diggers By Diggers )
- whalesalad, on 11/07/2007, -1/+4Wow this is pretty ugly *****. I use OS X for its gorgeous appearance, and that is really about it. This is just... *****. This reminds me of the windowblinds days and the oversaturation of ***** themes out there.
- jav1231, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Are you high?
- flipside927, on 11/07/2007, -0/+0can someone post the backup of the entire Dock file? I got it to work but i think i messed up a file cuz now i can't get the sub menu to come up when i do apple+click.
- wrow, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1I just want a cleardock...who's going to develop that??
- tyderian, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1I second that. I used to use the Unsanity cleardock on 10.4, but theres no way I'm installing APE after all that blue-screen madness.
- darkvad0r, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Maybe if you replace the pngs with completely transparent pngs you'll have a transparent dock (can't test it right now, i'll give it a try when I get home)
- wheresthevan, on 11/07/2007, -2/+1Where can I get that sweet Google Ad Dock!?!?!!
Anywho... for those who drop everything for momma's waxed checker board floors or those bulging blue dots of childhood lore... here you go... http://www.4936online.com/checkered.php - ttamshadbolt, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Love the Cheese!!
- jerotz, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Hi there! Great job, I like newly designed docks
- pixelsoup, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1I'm not a fan of the default Leopard dock but most of these come from the same school of design.
I'm glad NONE of you (dock designers) work for Apple. - NeonElixir, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Nice collection. Anything for the 2D dock? I wouldn't mind getting rid of the border. I'm not a fan of the 3D dock.
- NeonElixir, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Also, smart move on the CS stack... stealing that.
- ajchavar, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3i know its an esoteric thing, but i REALLY like having my dock on the top of the screen and Apple killed it in Leopard. Most peopl found it annoying as *****, but since I hide my dock for maximum screen space I like it somewhere where you need to be really deliberate to show the dock, so that it doesnt pop up randomly when i'm on a screen edge.
if anyone has found a way to move the dock to the top of screen in any way in leopard please post it! onyx doesnt work and neither does the terminal (defaults write com.apple.dock orientation -string top) - toongorissen, on 11/10/2007, -1/+0These designs aren't bad, but the real problem with the Dock is its extremely unrealistic angle. It just doesn't feel three dimensional. The flat, magic carpet option Apple is offering isn't a tasty alternative. Someone ought to come up with such design alternatives, as well...
- puha, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Sorry, but most of these dock designs are horrible. There is something to be said for taking your time to be creative with these. Most of them look like someone googled a texture and slapped it on without thinking about it. I'll wait for someone to do it better. (and someone will)
- demnos, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2The Change Dock script is just changing my background for some reason. I have my background image set to change randomly every hour. When I run this script and choose a folder with the new dock images, the only thing that happens is that my desktop background changes to the next random image. My Dock doesn't change at all. Sounded like a neat idea anyway.
- falafelkiosken, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Great, IceDock made me start using 3d dock again, it's that elegant Apple should have made it
- gabe37, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3This is amazing.
- d3isme, on 11/11/2007, -0/+2If you look closely there are some nice very simple docks in the collection.
But I keep my dock on the side as I find it out of my way there. Does anybody know how to get rid of that border? Something a low-tech person could implement?- Shiner6, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1Side docks are on the way - stay tuned. (I should have some up later today.)
- puha, on 11/15/2007, -1/+0Too bad the site looks like it was made when Milli Vanilli were still together.
- ih8quark, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Great site
- cywei99, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1Really cool site!
