- digg it
- coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60He should have also done a QTVR movie inside the store.
- AdamD, on 10/12/2007, -29/+14The stores don't allow to take pictures of your own, because they don't want you to picture the stuff.
Who knows why? - Akram, on 10/12/2007, -26/+16And where did you get that information from? just take a look around on the net, everyone has pictures of Apple stores....stop assuming and start researching.
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33I started to take a picture inside the Manhattan SoHo store and a security guard told me to stop and that no photos were allowed, smartass.
- enigmattic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+40They don't want you stealing souls from their computers.
- phil.busch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9odd... I took a picture in Oct 2004 inside the soho store and nothing happened.
- DCUK, on 10/12/2007, -21/+11Queuing to get into a new shop.........how very very sad.
- nexus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Akram was right there was even a video of inside and out posted here on digg i believe. Those kids that did that video would have been asked to stop filming but wernt. ODD dont you think?
- mc_hambone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I tried taking a photo of the glass staircase in soho, and an Apple store employee told me that taking pictures inside the store isn't allowed.
- grapetonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@phil.busch
You should have taken the lens cap off ;) - sych0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I took pics inside the SF store
- phil.busch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@grapetonic
I did take the lens cap off, twice.

http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc009446dw.jpg - aristotle0dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Part of the reason why they don't want people taking photos inside the store is because of their clientele. Many famous people own macs and Apple wants to provide everyone a pleasant shopping experience. That, and they don't want people filming the Apple Cult activities. I'm kidding of course about the latter one. :)
- AdamD, on 10/12/2007, -29/+14The stores don't allow to take pictures of your own, because they don't want you to picture the stuff.
- gedepasek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Its a great Pano, as are are many on that site
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8Rasta man, peace ;)
- buckey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Only an Apple store could draw such a crowd and only Jook can capture the scene in the dark and as it happens!
- Metabolife, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Not to mention the 24hr once per hour raffle of their macbook.
- fatcat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9i hope they get one or 2 of the inside of the store soon
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35auto resize browser should = instadeath
- thegsa, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6Do You Have A 200 Megahert Computer?
- deadfones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Tools > Options > Content > Javascript Advanced...?
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47The point is that sites that resize your browser without your permission are selfish, presumptuous and annoying. That also goes for unskippable Flash intros and pages that pay music automatically.
- bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3^^ thank you so much. i didn't know you could do that.
- picklepants, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Thanks for resizing my screen.
- benliong, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Wow, did you get a 19" instead of your old 17" screen?
amazing. ;)
- benliong, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Wow, did you get a 19" instead of your old 17" screen?
- iAlex, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Cool!
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34ROFL. Who the hell goes to an apple store opening to smugly point their macbook pro + soft pr0n at random cameras?
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Is that dude looking at porn?
- deadfones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27I think it's "art."
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21If you zoom in, it looks like hes working in photoshop...but still...
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+62mb image kthxbai.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/Einhanderkiller/appleglass.png - KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He does have photoshop open, but the "porn" appears to be his desktop image.
- hipsterelitist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33I know I'm going to catch a lot of flack for it, but being a new yorker who has spent his fair share of time at the Soho apple store, i gotta say: the old one is much better. cube and elevator aside, the space lacks character.
also: the clear elevator already has visible scratches on the floor and ceiling, maybe they used the same material as on the nano?- illt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5character aside, it's much easier to get to where you want, see and play wiht the products you want, and get help from the genius bar when you want it.
not to mention faster checkout, and lots of natural light from street level. - theOster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1is it really called "the genius bar"??
- illt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5character aside, it's much easier to get to where you want, see and play wiht the products you want, and get help from the genius bar when you want it.
- thegsa, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4haha that guy is looking at porn
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Hardly. Maybe in Saudi Arabia.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Apple store = landmark? Okay, if you say so. There are a lot more things in New York that can be considered a landmark than this little 75x75ft glass cube with a corporate logo on it.
- illt, on 10/12/2007, -16/+8note, *new* landmark...and 5 blocks of people waiting in line until 1am agree.
- phoggey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12I saw people stand at a line for the bathroom at a baseball game for 20-30 minutes. A bunch of idiots standing in line means *****. It's a computer store, big ***** deal. My city has 20 of them.
- rhizome, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Thank you for pointing out that referring to something as a landmark in New York means that nothing else can ever be considered to be a landmark. Finally, someone understands the post-911 mentality around here.
- white, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13great...now i know what it feels like to stand in line.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2grrrr.... comes in all garbled with mplayer in linux. Oh, drab.
- dhammond, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5A new landmark in New York? Guys, it's getting a little too nerdy in here.
- otherland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I hope the bathrooms are more than glass. Some ugly wierdos and pervs on that line.
- mikesty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Jeff Goldblum is watching you poop ... IN THE APPLE STORE!
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The 24 hour relapse cam at www.apple.com is pretty cool too. If you watch the 5:00 hour, a dude holds up a sign asking a girl to marry him.
- TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10ha good eye "ushi lang i love you will you marry me"
its funny watching him pace around for a bit waiting for a good time to put up his sign or building the courage
- TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10ha good eye "ushi lang i love you will you marry me"
- lofiboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1What a weird design .. I'd like to see it in person.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -13/+6How sad a store could be considered a landmark :'(
- hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Macy's Herlad Square is a landmark.
Why is this different? - bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3So the Lincoln monument.
Mt. Rushmore.
The golden gate.
.... - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Why not? The Hollywood sign was once an ad for a housing development. The Chrysler Building isn't called that for fun. One of Toronto's landmarks is the Eaton Centre; a shopping mall. Famous stadiums are named after soft drink companies...
If a company has the foresight and consideration to actually put in the money in developing an appropriate, unique, architecturally significant building, good for them! If it is considered a landmark, they did something right. In this case, a giant glass cube in an empty plaza in the middle of a city like New York stands out as something beautiful, and has already become a tourist attraction. - axemachine, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5"developing an appropriate, unique, architecturally significant building..."
Last time I check The Louvre in Paris did it better and first. More Apple "innovation" I guess.
- hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Macy's Herlad Square is a landmark.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Lmao the guy with the locks has a porn like wall paper... nice picture thought.
- ethanwa, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Mirror of this is at http://www.thehotfix.net/
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4hold shift to zoom :)
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I love how all the people in the cars are staring and wondering, "what the *****?"
- bruzie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I couldn't be bothered looking up the address - I was in NY a few weeks ago on my honeymoon so I was trying to work out where it is and seeing if we went past it. Five minutes later I click that it's outside FAO Schwarz and I remember the construction going on at the time. Didn't know it was an Apple store.
- Slourte, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Fanboys!
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2looks cool.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Zoom in close to the cube and it gets grainy and hard to see, wtf did this guy use, a 2 mega pixel Kodak? But when
first look at it and you zoom in it goes to the blakc due with the PowerBook, is that some chinese man? I'm not saying it porn but why does he have that smug look on his face? - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Landmark... right.
- DeathonWheels, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Looks cool but I still wonder what it will look like once it has stuff in it. I'm also curious as to how they are going to hide all the power and networking cables.
- Unimaxium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You talk as if it hasn't already been built.
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think you're confused my friend....
The store is UNDERGROUND, thats just the shiny above ground part - DeathonWheels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That makes more sense then.
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...yea, but think about the bathrooms up in there. ;)
- TAZaimE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOW... right across the street from my job... its the CBS GM Building... i agree with bruzie.... i must've past by it at least 50 BILLION times the past few months, and NEVER knew it was the new apple store. I know where I'll be going for luch monday!
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Wrong reply, bury this
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't know iPod's were edible.
Do they cook them, or do you just carve and eat them on rice like sushi?
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Wrong reply, bury this
- rushfan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Who in their right mind would wait for hours to get into a STORE. IT's not going anywhere.
- duffield, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9from http://www.apple.com/retail/fifthavenue/:
"To celebrate our new store, we’re giving away an amazing new MacBook every hour for 24 hours straight. And the first 2,500 customers receive a commemorative T-shirt." - cwoolf34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I went to the Grand opening in Burlingame a couple years ago and it was awesome. I got a bunch of free stuff while waiting in line and got a pretty spiffy White Apple T Shirt that got spaghetti sauce on it the same day! But seriously, is that Sway in line?
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For the same reasons you did.
- duffield, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9from http://www.apple.com/retail/fifthavenue/:
- fluffyturtle, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Christ on motorcycle, who gives a *****?
You mac people need to take something for your Steve boners. - infinium, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Reminds me of a huge bug light with all the bugs circling it and just waiting to willingly to get zapped. ;-)
- tyns, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I think I found Waldo!
- strat0tele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How much will someone pay me to throw a rock at it?
- metalica77, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i love the back dude watching porno or something on his mac book
- mehron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I sure do all my porn viewing in Adobe Photoshop... :p
- digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dont throw stones if you live/work in a glass "house" haha
- squison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Neat.. and, while it's loading it looks like the Holodeck from Star Trek. (I'm a nerd, I know.)
- ken52787, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In case the server dies, here is a mirror:
http://www.bandwidthorbust.com/mirror/AppleStore5_4800r.mov - aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2it's like these people never seen an apple store in their life before. nothing spectacular if you ask me.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2What the hell is going on here.. every person that express their opinion on the "landmark" issue gets modded down, hey, have apple given you any money or fought for indepence, freedom or real values.. c'mon.
- msaeger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2That is a neat photo but those people are crazy for waiting in that line.
- ayrton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Beautifull Panorama. Beautifull exposition on Panoramas website. Beautifull Apple store. Beautifull Apple marketing campaing. Beautifull 360 photo. Well done. Congratulations to Jook Leung and to Apple.
- samk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's with the black and white patch?
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For those of you annoyed by any interest in this building on Digg, please bear in mind that many of us are not so myopic as to miss the fact that technology encompasses a wide variety of things beyond computers, including architecture.
- isoceles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome site and great photography. Thanks who ever posted this.
- ScottyDontKnow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow that was an awesome site. The new years eve panorama in NYC was really cool too. Good job agian whoever posted that
