- coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60He should have also done a QTVR movie inside the store.
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47The point is that sites that resize your browser without your permission are selfish, presumptuous and annoying. That also goes for unskippable Flash intros and pages that pay music automatically.
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Is that dude looking at porn?
- enigmattic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+40They don't want you stealing souls from their computers.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34ROFL. Who the hell goes to an apple store opening to smugly point their macbook pro + soft pr0n at random cameras?
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35auto resize browser should = instadeath
- hipsterelitist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33I know I'm going to catch a lot of flack for it, but being a new yorker who has spent his fair share of time at the Soho apple store, i gotta say: the old one is much better. cube and elevator aside, the space lacks character.
also: the clear elevator already has visible scratches on the floor and ceiling, maybe they used the same material as on the nano? - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Apple store = landmark? Okay, if you say so. There are a lot more things in New York that can be considered a landmark than this little 75x75ft glass cube with a corporate logo on it.
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33I started to take a picture inside the Manhattan SoHo store and a security guard told me to stop and that no photos were allowed, smartass.
- deadfones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27I think it's "art."
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21If you zoom in, it looks like hes working in photoshop...but still...
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Hardly. Maybe in Saudi Arabia.
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Why not? The Hollywood sign was once an ad for a housing development. The Chrysler Building isn't called that for fun. One of Toronto's landmarks is the Eaton Centre; a shopping mall. Famous stadiums are named after soft drink companies...
If a company has the foresight and consideration to actually put in the money in developing an appropriate, unique, architecturally significant building, good for them! If it is considered a landmark, they did something right. In this case, a giant glass cube in an empty plaza in the middle of a city like New York stands out as something beautiful, and has already become a tourist attraction. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I hope the bathrooms are more than glass. Some ugly wierdos and pervs on that line.
- white, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13great...now i know what it feels like to stand in line.
- TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10ha good eye "ushi lang i love you will you marry me"
its funny watching him pace around for a bit waiting for a good time to put up his sign or building the courage - benliong, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Wow, did you get a 19" instead of your old 17" screen?
amazing. ;) - deadfones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Tools > Options > Content > Javascript Advanced...?
- duffield, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9from http://www.apple.com/retail/fifthavenue/:
"To celebrate our new store, we’re giving away an amazing new MacBook every hour for 24 hours straight. And the first 2,500 customers receive a commemorative T-shirt." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Not to mention the 24hr once per hour raffle of their macbook.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I love how all the people in the cars are staring and wondering, "what the *****?"
- phil.busch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@grapetonic
I did take the lens cap off, twice.

http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc009446dw.jpg - fatcat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9i hope they get one or 2 of the inside of the store soon
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think you're confused my friend....
The store is UNDERGROUND, thats just the shiny above ground part - gedepasek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Its a great Pano, as are are many on that site
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The 24 hour relapse cam at www.apple.com is pretty cool too. If you watch the 5:00 hour, a dude holds up a sign asking a girl to marry him.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Jeff Goldblum is watching you poop ... IN THE APPLE STORE!
- phil.busch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9odd... I took a picture in Oct 2004 inside the soho store and nothing happened.
- mc_hambone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I tried taking a photo of the glass staircase in soho, and an Apple store employee told me that taking pictures inside the store isn't allowed.
- strat0tele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How much will someone pay me to throw a rock at it?
- tyns, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I think I found Waldo!
- Unimaxium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You talk as if it hasn't already been built.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He does have photoshop open, but the "porn" appears to be his desktop image.
- DeathonWheels, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That makes more sense then.
- picklepants, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Thanks for resizing my screen.
- phoggey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12I saw people stand at a line for the bathroom at a baseball game for 20-30 minutes. A bunch of idiots standing in line means *****. It's a computer store, big ***** deal. My city has 20 of them.
- bruzie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I couldn't be bothered looking up the address - I was in NY a few weeks ago on my honeymoon so I was trying to work out where it is and seeing if we went past it. Five minutes later I click that it's outside FAO Schwarz and I remember the construction going on at the time. Didn't know it was an Apple store.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't know iPod's were edible.
Do they cook them, or do you just carve and eat them on rice like sushi? - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For those of you annoyed by any interest in this building on Digg, please bear in mind that many of us are not so myopic as to miss the fact that technology encompasses a wide variety of things beyond computers, including architecture.
- cwoolf34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I went to the Grand opening in Burlingame a couple years ago and it was awesome. I got a bunch of free stuff while waiting in line and got a pretty spiffy White Apple T Shirt that got spaghetti sauce on it the same day! But seriously, is that Sway in line?
- bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3^^ thank you so much. i didn't know you could do that.
- squison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Neat.. and, while it's loading it looks like the Holodeck from Star Trek. (I'm a nerd, I know.)
- buckey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Only an Apple store could draw such a crowd and only Jook can capture the scene in the dark and as it happens!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dont throw stones if you live/work in a glass "house" haha
- grapetonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@phil.busch
You should have taken the lens cap off ;) - mehron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I sure do all my porn viewing in Adobe Photoshop... :p
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...yea, but think about the bathrooms up in there. ;)

I know where I'll be going for luch monday!
