- soiland, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0BTW, it doesn't work through proxy if you are of the unfortunate like me behind mr. Big Firewall
- jla1987, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Can't wait until it's released for PC.
- Googled, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Anything like this for the unfortunate windows user?
- lashanza, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0works like a charm of iBook G4.
- macewen, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0I tried gdisk and it crashed my machine, just thought I'd give you dudes a headzup.
- bebopredux, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0neofactor,
Really, .mac may have a place but, not for me. I much prefer my own domain name and a hosting plan of my choice. - pierre, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Cool. How about a pc version so when im at work away from my mac i can also connect. Digg
- mshelton, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0ergh.. http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm
- onestep, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0No drag/drop support, it crashed on a big file (3mb), and it thinks I was trying to upload a folder, because the file was on the desktop.
I know it's just a 0.1 release.. so hopefully it will get better.
Perhaps a fututre release will let you mount it like a drive, then it will be more useful. - zforrester, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0I just downloaded it, and i totally love it!
any idea if there are any limits to the size of file that can uploaded? other then just then the inbox size, of course - mshelton, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0For windows: GMail Drive shell extension
I haven't used it, but it looks at least somewhat decent. - inactive, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0"Spade," I do, too. I guess I just like having a local copy of my mail. Also, I don't like Gmail's organisational system. I hope this whole idea of 'results-based' organisation doesn't replace files-and-folders... I like that a WHOLE lot more.
- superal1394, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0make it for windows! I love macs, had one for a couple years, but I need my video games. If I had the money, I'd have a windows AND a mac.
- dbr_onix, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Don't have a Mac, don't plan on (I have my reasons... :P)
Buut, it does look interesting... Yeh, it's the same as the GmailFS thing for PC, buut.. Theres an 11mb file on it? The gmailFS max file size was 10MB (The max attachment size)
I don't see this lasting long, same as the GmailFS though :(
- Ben - dhansen, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Looked promising, but it crashes when I tried to login. Perhaps Google has prevented it?
- Googled, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0o rite...cheers gotamd found it
- jstene, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0I'm surprised that they are still able to call this "gdisk". Symantec has a utility called gdisk (used to manage partitions). maybe there isnt a patent on the name?
- jgullickson, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0If you're worried about getting your account locked out, start a new one. Invites are cheap and plentiful...
- gotamd, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0There have been things like this for Windows for a long time googled.
- amishjim, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0im always afraid when i give my user/pass away to any 3rd party program, especially a basically unheard of one. we always think that we are so0o0o0o safe on mac and bam we finally take a hit......food for thought....
- ThePharaoh, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0Freakin sweet! +digg on this one!
- ryos, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0I'm gonna start using this with my friends to share GarageBand projects so we can work on them together.
- t35t0r, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0If you lose your gmail service because of use of this program don't say I didn't warn you. This is been around a while for *nix and you could have used it under macs without the gui. See GmailFS based on libGmail: http://richard.jones.name/google-hacks/gmail-filesystem/gmail-filesystem.html
- l0g1cal, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0YEAH! GET YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT BANNED BY GOOGLE HERE
- swindmill, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0why would Google ban your gmail account for using this? I assume it is because you would use more space than you would if you were only using gmail for mail.
Second, how would Google find out?
My only complaint so far is that it asks me for my username everytime I open it, even after saving it to keychain - unaicthus, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0finally i can get all thie pr0n off my hard drive....
- Rocky21743, on 10/21/2007, -1/+0I'm having some problems using it as well, it thinks that I'm trying to upload entire directories when I am not.
- pibby, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0Awesome, thanks for the link!
- spade, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0Hey, I use Mail to check gmail, call me old fashioned. Hope Google doesn't shut this down, this is sweet.
- e3mw, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0Oh man this is awesome! Hopefully this will catch Google's attention.
- phantomstealth, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0i know .mac rocks if you own more then 1 mac, but if you just use it for online storage... THATS what i meant by saving $99 bucks... cause i only have 1 mac
- BugMeNot2, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0I prefer using Filefront.
Unlimited Bandwidth.
Unlimited Storage.
But, unfortunately, waiting times to download.
http://www.filefront.com - neofactor, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0.mac still offers much more than storage.
What technology does this app leverage? If it is WebDav.. do we need the client? Could we not just mount a share?
Love to find out more... I will look at the source as well. - quakefiend, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0hmm.. cool, but if the gmail invite spooler got shut down I bet this will too
+digg anyway - bebopredux, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0Nice.....thanks for this. I've dumped Mail as my default mail app and now use Gmail as the default. Why use anything else now?
- MrCoke, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS BEEN OUT FOR WINDOWS FOR AGES. geez all you people think its special cause mac has it. anyways here is the link.
http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm
first thing on my first search in google"gmail drive", i guess google is too hard for even gmail users. - phantomstealth, on 10/21/2007, -2/+0Who needs .mac now... YEA!!! sign up for the trial.. get the cool email address then use gDisk! The DAY IS MINE!!! i just saved $99 dollars on .mac with gDisk! THANKS gDisk!
- snorkle256, on 10/21/2007, -3/+0i use a program called gdisk to wipe drives :P not store things :P just thought i'd add that - no real reason
