- kton25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4looks like the owner of 'macprocube.com' is grasping at straws...
- Flowbee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Um... there *was* a sub-$2000 PowerMac. The is *not* a sub-$2000 Mac Pro.
- dmoney22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope so, I thought the first cube was la *****.
- cvk_b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*speculation* It will just be call a "Mac'... that's it. The case will look the same but be about 30% smaller, have fewer bays.. etc.,
- moisie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It doesn't leave it with any gap, at least no gap that wasn't there before.
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Macbook Pro
there it is,
hook up a montor, etc. - Flowbee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So you think that if the $700 mini isn't powerful enough for you, it's ok that the next (headless) choice is $2400? I'm guessing there are a lot of users like me for whom the mini is too little, and the Mac Pro is overkill. Time will tell if Apple agrees.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree with Flowbee. I'd like more power than a Mac Mini, but not dual Xeons at $2,500.
How about a $1,500 Core 2 Duo without a monitor? - chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is no need - the Mini does what 95% of your average user wants/needs to do, and the other 5% is filled by the Mac Pro. I consider myself somewhat of a power user, and about the only thing the Mini handles too slow for me is video processing. That being said, it is perfectly fine for importing video and putting it on a DVD. If I REALLY wanted to move up, I would get the Mac Pro.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is pandredenny getting dugg down?
It is okay to second guess Apple, you know. It's not blasphemous...
Whether this article is speculation or just wishful thinking, the fact remains that you have a huge gap between an $800 Mac Mini and a $2,500 Mac Pro. A "headless" Mac somewhere between there would be attractive to many people (like myself) who don't need Dual Xeons, but want a bit more than what the Mini offers. - n8dawg87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There has been non-stop speculation of this mac cube/mid-range headless since they discontinued the old cube. It's getting kind of old hearing about it.
- sinfree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, that with a small helping of spam on the side.
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mac Pro cube isn't going to happen sorry guys......The only thing new we are going to see before the end of the year are iPod's, iMac and MBP uprgrades....
- Dog_Paddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Uh, the iMac fills in the gap. Duh?
- padredenny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I for one would jump at the chance for a mini-tower Mac. Just give me a full-size hard drive and the ability to upgrade the graphics card, and I'm happy. There's definitely a gap between $700 and $2000 that I think should be filled.
