Mac Os X driver for the XBox 360 controller
tattiebogle.net — A driver that allows to use the XBox 360 controller with Mac Os X. Allows to use Force Feedback, comes with source, universal binary and a Preference Pane. As I don't have 360 I didn't test it. Can some of you comment on it's usage? -- Note to self, I searched for a copy of this story and didn't find any... read it first on TUAW.

- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -56/+7Forget about the X-Box! Just but the controller now and you don't have to look like an idiot playing games on your computer with your keyboard ;)

Mod him down. - atelophobee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7@ireland
xbox and PC gaming are 2 entirely different worlds and base systems.
also, i look quite normal when playing computer games with my keyboard - newevilmind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1is there a driver for Windows / PC??? or does the 360 controller already work for windows? it should!
- Zoltak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The Xbox 360 wired controller works out of the box with Windows XP with a patch from Windows Update. The Xbox 360 Controller for Windows (which costs more) comes with a driver CD for Windows XP.

- fatcat, on 10/12/2007, -25/+5woot woot i am so putting that on my macbook, i wonder if they have a bluetooth driver for the wireless controller
- idean360, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10uh...the Xbox 360 controllers arent bluetooth, and Microsoft is coming out with an RF adapter for the PC. I wonder if there will be any drivers for THAT.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9The guy is working on the IR wireless thing! Which could work with the IR sensor in all new Mac's ;)
- Software2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It should function with the same drivers.
- pedroleite, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2That's exactly what I was hoping for... any good fedback yet ? The story made it to Gizmodo, where they made some comments.

- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10Its all about emulators man.

I think there might be more companies than Aspyr too. But what do I know? - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Halo. Call of Duty. Half-Life 2. Worlds of Warcraft.
But of course, those games must be terrible if they're on a Mac, right?
- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10Its all about emulators man.
- Slipdisc, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2"I searched for a copy of this story and didn't find any"
Thats because its so ***** lame, theres not too many out there.
one in a million pedro - Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I've been using this for a couple months now on my old G4 tibook and it works great with things like snes9x and macmame.
- jbus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Somewhere kittens and puppies are dying because of this... I can feel it.
- Sanchez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I can finally play all those great Mac OSX games comfortably!
- DNABeast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It turns out that Myst and the Sims don't really benefit from a gamepad controller.
- ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7News flash: The Xbox 360 controller does not have Force Feedback. Only some steering wheels and joysticks for PCs too, and I actually haven't heard anything about those in years (probably because they're all violating some retarded patent).
- chad78, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Oscillating rumble with 2 separate vibration feedback motors and custom intensity (full, medium, low and off)
I believe that is what is meant by "force feedback" - the rumble, or whatever you want to call it. - ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What is meant by "force feedback" is when the device offers resistance to your controls, as when a force feedback-enabled steering wheel makes it more difficult for you physically to steer your virtual car into a mountain.
- 15charmaxwtf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6It is very confusing calling some tacky vibration force feedback.
- chad78, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Oscillating rumble with 2 separate vibration feedback motors and custom intensity (full, medium, low and off)
- linuxps2, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Now all they have to do is make games for OS X.... hrmmm whos gonna do that... wait.. no one!
- steve228uk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4This is old I found this on Version Tracker 3 months a go!
StEvE - Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I can see this being a decent idea for those who want to play Halo, but the main reason I connect a controller to my computer is for emulation, and for emulation, I want a 6 button controller.
Well, not exactly, I want both a 6 button (for Genesis and MAME) and a 4 button (for SNES), which is why I simply use a USB adaptor and either a DualShock 2 or a Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Controller (or whatever they're called, either way, it's a 6 button controller for the PS2 or Xbox with a holographic of a SF character on it). - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Now i just need to get the USB controller to try this out as my existing controller is wireless.
- mulletman13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2....... this driver has been around for a looooooong time.... how is this news?
- Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Although I don't use a Mac myself, I respect this guys effort to make a Mac driver for the 360 controller. Kudo's to you! The 360 controller is a great controller and there's no reason why Mac users should be left out from enjoying it. Great job man!
- SenatorPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not only that, but I had a problem because I bought a different brand of controller, emailed the guy, and within hours he sent me a detailed technical description of how to fix it, and a simple file that would do all of it automatically. Great support.
- suicidal-kid, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1But Its made by Microsoft! It is evil!
- bhaidaya, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anyone gotten this to work on intel mac? Installed it and controller doesn't get recognized...
- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6now all they have to do it make some games for the mac!
- Chealion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ireland - RF != IR. Infrared is what is used for things like TV remotes, it uses light (below red in the colour spectrum). RF uses radio waves.
Works great here! - Chrelion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've used this before, with my emulators. It's a little odd in that you do have to open up the Preference Pane before it'll recognize the controller - (each time you boot) but otherwise, it works fine.
The "force feedback", so far as I can tell, is triggered by pressing the left and right triggers. So far, I can't see that games are supporting this driver to take advantage of the rumble feature. Maybe there are some, and if so, I'd like to give them a shot.
This is rather old news, though. A simple search on VersionTracker has shown that this has been around for a while. Still, good to know, if people don't frequent those sites. - pedroleite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Statement of intentions :)
I don't pretend the driver wasn't around some time ago, I didn't noticed. But I couldn't find it on digg.com...
News to some, old to others, good to have the info. - davidro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While the subject of Mac OS X gamepads is up...has anybody tried the Macally iShock II?
- Ricanjunito24, on 10/29/2007, -3/+0can some one help get my 360 controller to work on my mac plz
