- shinaku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26You mean Leopard? Jaguar was 10.2
- kolywater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22this is a free update to os x, just like 10.4.7, 10.5.6, 10.4.5, 10.4.4, etc. for those that were wondering.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16technically, it's a zero-button mouse with touch-sensitive pads under the top surface to distinguish between left- or right- clicks. the click functionality comes from when the bottom is pushed into the chassis and registers a click-- but anyways....
the mighty mouse, while by default set for one-button functionality, it can be set for 2- or 3-button functionality (the third button registers when you squeeze together the two buttons located one on either side (very weird to get used to). that little rollerbally-thing is spiffy, too. and if you don't like it, you can use any other mouse you like instead. it took me a WHILE to get usesd to it, but now i can't be without it.
as for white, well, while 2 of the 4 (mb, mbp, imac, mp) lines have a white model, and one of them can be ordered as black instead. seriously, if the color of your compy is the worst of your problems, then consider yourself lucky. - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21umm.... i think it has a tool to unclog your internet tubes. or something. i dunno.
- shinaku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12You get a Mac OS update. ;)
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I havent run into many problems, but its better for apple to fix them, before they cause me a headache.

Apple's updates are cumulative meaning that I can take any system from 10.4.0 through 10.4.7 and apply this update. It even wraps in all the security updates since 10.4.0. As the eighth update for Tiger 10.4, it has accumulated quite a lot of fixes and improvements. - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8my bad, i meant 4-button functionality. the third is when you push down on the rollerball, and the fourth is from sqeezing the side-buttons.
- jujubear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Or Sticky Keys resetting every single time I restart my MacBook Pro.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yes, and how about throwing in the multithreaded OpenGL with this update, eh Apple? ¿Por favor?
- McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Beta? It's a Developer Preview. Man, is there anything in that post you got right?
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I really wish they'd fix the bug in Finder where your whole system hangs if your Windows/Samba shares get disconnected. It's almost annoying enough to make me erase OSX and install Linux on my MacBook. Mounting shares should be one of the things your OS gets right all the time, no excuses, no bugs, no beach ball.
- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Because people like to have updates on their computers. And seeing as how this is a big update, it should address MANY issues. Hopefully. :)
- ratzfatz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I hope they will address the video driver problem for the MacPro. Driver doesn't support portrait mode, yet.
- doce, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Dear Subcide. Please fix your bug reporting style.
Thanks. - keesj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Who's freaking out?
- skottles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5it is pretty common to have large builds before release. They usually get stripped down when it is time to ship. At least this is the way the comany I work for handles this.
- chesterton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Or, interlace issues in the DVD Player, or IMAP folder support in Mail
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I gotta stop drinking. Please mod down for being a jackass. Further.
- scootinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4At first I thought he was referring to BitTorrent...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Every company does it because of the additional debugging/refining/optimisation etc that is yet to be performed.
People are okay with every company doing it.
Unless it's MS I mean. - jicon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The video card feature disabled is most likely caused by Apple cutting corners. The Mac mini (PPC) has video refresh issues that were resolved with an ATI Firmware upgrade for the Mac version of the card they sold. Apple ends up buying cards for the Mac mini, iMac, Macbook etc, at a cheaper price by not paying for certain features to be enabled in the drivers/firmware. Not to point fingers anywhere, but all manufacturers will do this. Don't know if this is any different on the Mac Pro, but I'd suspect the $50-$100 price difference on an X1900 retail as opposed to BTO tells you Apple has likely paid for features only utilized on Cinema Displays (Likely no portrait available)
- rebelyell2k5, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9why are we freaking out over .8? not hating.. just curious.
- Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Weird bug, that. Never seen it, though use smb:// shares all the time, and very unstable ones, always resetting, disappearing, coming back, because the Mac is copying things from people's desktop machines. What conditions do you see it?
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2me, too, esp when printing to my airport extreme base station's printer (an hp pos 2110-- er, i mean psc 2110)
- m1ss1ontomars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3eh? what's wrong with front row? O_o
- inkhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Frontrow is fixed in Leopard (speedwise you can leave menus, but they are completely redesigning frontrow, with motion backgrounds and to compete with windows media center in leopard
As far as the samba bug that's fixed in leopard the finder backend is completely rewritten no more hanging, no more asking you to disconnect from shares long after you left the office. - miccet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Any idea when it will be available?
- jeffsters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOW! Just like OS 9! :-D
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man I hope they can get Leopard out early next year - we're running out of version numbers again! ;)
Hopefully this will iron out any last major glitches with Intel systems now they are all out in the wild. I still think I'll hold out for 10.5 before I go Intel though. - themacx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Yes, and how about throwing in the multithreaded OpenGL with this update, eh Apple? ¿Por favor?"
good point and IGN said this most likely will happen, this will mean speed bumps up to 100%! - Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Killer, thanks for the info. That's exciting. About time they rewrote Finder!
- berlintapes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Man - I think they are mutating: I saw a Mac with two mouse buttons the other day! Someone needs to keep an eye on them...
- inkhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'd like to point out 10.4.8 also has huge speed improvements in rosetta. Running an EMULATED PowerPC Application such as Photoshop CS2 is now faster on a 2ghz macbook pro than on my dual proc 2ghz g5..., I confirmed it with a huge file filter test.
Unbelievable! An emulation faster than the real thing! - fekimoki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pls fix RSD first. im tired delivering my macbook to the authorized service center.
- carebearwarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully they get my iSub working with my ICBMs. Geez. PowerPC only right now? /shakes fist
- McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mine just dismount without much of a fuss when disconnected. Which is weird since I've heard people noting the bug before.
- webpoet73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I started experiencing printing issues when printing on "normal" recently. I wonder if it had anything due to upgrading to 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 will fix?
Yes, I took my time upgrading to 10.4.7 due an issue I had the first time I tried using the Software Update. I ended up downloading the combo updater and using it. Everything worked fine then. - stephenodotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You mean the 'twirling pinwheel of death?' This has been a known issue since the first versions of OS X. It occurs when a Windows network share disconnects. Finder continues to search for it and refuses to time out until you Force Quit it.
Pretty annoying. Note that this issue has been declared as fixed numerous times but is still reported as occurring on all updated versions including this latest one. I just experienced it again. I think it isn't a native Apple issue though and is the result of the Unix back end. - zulusafari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doubt that.... those have both been long desires, neither are bugs, that's just the way it was designed. Though I'm very suprized they have never de-interlaced video on the mac.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So it's nVidia's problem that Apple chose to use them?
- dmoney06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3305 megs? Jeebus...
- nsheridan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ratz:
The problem there is the nVidia card in the mac pro. The same problem exists in the powermacs that lack an AGP slot - ATI don't make mac compatible pci-e cards and the nvidia driver doesn't allow for rotation. Until nvidia fix their drivers you won't be able to get portrait mode. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6will this fix the powerbook narcolepcy?
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Woah-- all that slow-down code to get those intel macs ready for the "speed-boost" of leopard.
- barrettg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Try iTheater -- http://itheaterproject.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1How dare you.
- Subcide, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Dear apple. Please fix FrontRow.
Thanks. - Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8Film at 11.
