- staticten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9that is cool.....intalled it on my MBP
- scottauth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I love the warning posted on the website:

- aptiva, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How very strange that something this trivial has made me curse the fact that we don't have darkness here in Iceland during the summer...
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That is, without question, a PowerBook.
- thepol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The YouTube page indicates that "The Song is "Aod" by 65daysofstatic"

- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Last rev PowerBook... AWSM!!!!!
OK, I want to take this opportunity to ask something I've wanted to for a while. Is there any software that controls the computer's status light? For example, I remember that when attempting a Gentoo install, the light acted as an HD activity light. That would be interesting in OS X. It could also be used as sorta a PowerMateish thing — lighting or pulsing when an app needs your attention, for example.
If this doesn't exist and someone happens to be/know a developer... try it out! No copyrighting my idea, though. GPL4Life. - Bootes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I made a video of it. :)
http://homepage.mac.com/ablack6596/iMovieTheater38.html - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The backlight uses LED(s) which generally have no trouble turning off and on lots and lots of times. I wouldn't sweat it.
- HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"that was a terrible song to show off the lights"
I actually kinda liked it. Can anybody please tell me what the artist and title are for it, I'd like to download it. Thanks! - bitterCAMPARI, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4oh, that's where you are wrong!
- hman2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I enabled backlight flickering and tried it on my 20-inch iMac Core Duo. It was kind of entertaining for a while, but obviously you're using it for something other than its intended purposes, and I can't imagine the change in brightness at such a frequent rate to be exactly beneficial to the backlight.
- evanbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Meh...the keyboard backlight thing is kind of interesting, but the algorithm needs some enhancement - it's too responsive, I think. Maybe have it only react to bass frequencies or something...
- richsipe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Stupid skylights at work, I have to put my coat over my head to see it but it will be pimp at night or at least somewhat dim! If someone hasn't done it by then I will see if I can do a video tonight.
- ninjakin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4wow now more ways to have fun while stoned
- nerogtr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2cool in concept, but as said before the algorithm is pretty terrible. most rock songs result in the keys being lit up 90% of the time with an occasional flicker. I tried playing lighter stuff but it really just responded to the average sound level, not the "beat". the effect is that it pulses with the singer, instead of the beat of the song. maybe a low pass filter before analizing the signal could be a potential solution to that problem. a way to manually change the settings with a gui of sorts would be nice.
- FetalSage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This might be an extremely stupid question, but does this work on a Black MacBook?
- Nyana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I tried the screen thing for about 5 seconds before turning it off. I didn't have any problems with it, but it can't be good for the screen..
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2^That is perverted..why do that to a xbox controller just buy one of those adult USB toys.
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3At Christmas time, your Mac can be jolly with Christmas music like the house in the commercial.
- JpopBlast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is very cool. I hope that it isn't bad for the keyboard light though. It is like you got told when you were a kid, "don't turn the lights on and off repeatedly. You will break the lights."
- mblind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I freakin LOVE macs..sooo cool DIG!!!
- dangsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1omg that's awesome. all i need now is a mbp... =
- matt0ne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you hit Cmd-I the screen will flicker too.
- ModernGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We need to get together and buy you a tripod.
- infinium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A little DeathMetal and your keys will pop off!
- cwoolf34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Tried this earlier today, not impressed. The day someone can make this and the normal iTunes visualizer work at the same time, is the day I will be impressed.
- mattp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dont think so. I believe the MacBook Pros are the only ones with the ambient light sensor, which is required for this app. At least for me, on my white MacBook, the keyboard doesn't light up when the room gets dark.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think you were modded down because you basically asked if your computer had a keyboard backlight. If it doesn't, this can't light it up.
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2MacBook Pros are not the only machines with ambient light sensor/backlit keyboards. I believe it was introduced in the Aluminum G4 PowerBook series with the 1.25GHz 15" model. Since then, 15" and 17" Apple notebooks have had it as an option and later a standard feature.
I'm not sure if this plugin will work on G4 machines though, because I only have a MacBook Pro now. - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wows, Macs at the cutting edge again.
I'm beginning to regret getting the Intel iMac instead of a MBP :-( - piwy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hmm this works awesomely but it's not really for music where there;s alot going on. (my guess that's why the video showing it off has used lounge) if you say feed trance to it the light will mostly stay lit. unless there's like a gap of silence of so in the rack.
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Too bad it doesnt do other colors. That would be neat.
