- herebejames, on 12/20/2008, -13/+93Wow, free software and only 16 Diggs...what is going on?
- MrChunks, on 12/21/2008, -6/+57Any reason this story needed to link to TUAW as opposed to the actual site http://givingtree.macheist.com ? One unnecessary step.
- akaCHUCKTAYLORR, on 12/21/2008, -6/+53free enigmo 2. game on.
- dmtherob, on 12/21/2008, -6/+46Nice little gift for Mac Users... Thanks MacHeist
- MtheoryX, on 12/21/2008, -6/+37It's gonna be weird having two apps named Synergy on my machine...
http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ - dontfriendme, on 12/21/2008, -4/+31I don't want to digress into mac v PC stuff, but I really feel the shareware app community on the mac is the best of all platforms, and deals like the giving tree, mac heist, macupdate promo and macZot just don't happen as much on the PC side.
- MtheoryX, on 12/21/2008, -1/+26Got to level 8 and had to force myself to quit...else I wouldn't get any more digging done.
- tehdave, on 12/21/2008, -4/+22Enigmo 2 is worth a download, fun game. Enigmo for iPhone/iTouch is fun also.
- divisional, on 12/21/2008, -1/+15Congrats! It's an incredible machine ;-)
- ImOnYourTeam, on 12/22/2008, -1/+13In the future, there will be more than 16 Diggs! Maybe 1k, maybe more!
- mrsteveman1, on 12/21/2008, -2/+13Dreamspark is, first of all, only MS stuff, and second only for students.
Macheist is actually giving stuff away, good software that normally is involved in their heists, not MS software that Microsoft wants to give away to students to get them hooked on developing with Microsoft languages, servers, and services. There is a huge difference.
EDIT: and in typical MS fashion, it is excessively complicated. There are only ~20 schools on their list, and if you aren't you get to go to some odd ecommerce site where some third party will happily verify your status as a student after handing over loads of personal info.
Yea, this is nothing like macheists giving tree, i gave them my email and got free stuff, and they already had my email from before anyway. - santaliqueur, on 12/21/2008, -3/+13Maybe because nobody knows what the ***** dreamspark is, or cares enough to learn.
- racco, on 12/21/2008, -3/+13free software. you can't argue with that.
well worth a digg - santaliqueur, on 12/21/2008, -1/+10This isn't about open source apps, they are just free.
- BabyWookie, on 12/21/2008, -1/+10will download again. A++++++++++++++++++++++
- sonofalink, on 12/22/2008, -0/+8Try Enigmo 2.
- tmike7223, on 12/21/2008, -2/+10i wish i could bury you twice
- Rev0lver, on 12/21/2008, -1/+8If you're going to talk about people being retarded, at least know the difference between there, their, and they're.

(worked for me!) - max1018, on 12/22/2008, -0/+7You want SynergyKM. http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergykm
Much better than the Windows one even. - Teej, on 12/21/2008, -0/+7Free software, yeah, what a ***** shame.
- MrChunks, on 12/21/2008, -2/+9Was just saying!
- DoctuhJason, on 12/21/2008, -13/+19Sweet I get my macbook pro in a few days so I will actually be able to make use of this! Free things are always welcomed :)
- Falldog, on 12/22/2008, -2/+8Because maybe it makes more sense to Digg the actual website (submitted two days ago, http://digg.com/apple/Get_Free_Mac_software_at_the ... instead of blog spam?
- Hilyin, on 12/21/2008, -2/+8It is too bad, I was hoping it'd be a GUI for that app. Instead its yet another stupid music app.
- BossKey, on 12/22/2008, -0/+6I hope you asked for a clue for Christmas.
- rkho, on 12/21/2008, -3/+9Who is against G2Asia
- bedouin, on 12/21/2008, -1/+6I agree. Guys like Panic, Ambrosia, and others just make great apps that I don't mind paying for. While Windows versions I'd much rather find a serial or crack for. And don't be fooled, SerialBox makes it just as easy in Mac-land -- if you wanted to.
On top of that, the prices are generally reasonable. The last few apps I bought were $10-20 each and were well worth it. - iamdravenman, on 12/23/2008, -0/+5or rather, I probably paid twice as much for my car than you did, too, but my specific needs are probably different than yours are. I don't want to have to deal with a machine that stops functioning several times every day. I don't want to have to spend more time fixing things that shouldn't break than I do using the machine for the purpose for which it was bought. I also don't want to have to deal with repositories and dependencies and having to find the either non-existent system disc or re-download it in order to install even the most simple of updates or applications.
I'm so sick of Windows users who think that their way of life is the only way. It's sad that you think we all have to suffer through your daily misery, and even more sad that you feel that you have to troll a Mac-specific submission on Digg in order to try and tell us how stupid we are. - De4our, on 12/21/2008, -6/+11Stop bitching and just play Enigmo.
- rkho, on 12/21/2008, -6/+11Get a Mac!
- kitsched, on 12/21/2008, -1/+6I'm lazy to invite myself. What would I be getting?
- Wayfarer12, on 12/21/2008, -4/+8I did this last year! I love Macheist. :D
- kelchm, on 12/23/2008, -0/+4what?
- MOJIRA, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4Wow, that Synergy is ***** awesome. I was looking for something just like that.
- pedo, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4you're bitching about him bitching
- luminousnerd, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4Linux has terrible shareware. Only a very small percentage of it is even remotely polished or good at all. EPIC FAIL.
- timusca, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4Works fine for me. Full version.
- BenKaras, on 12/22/2008, -0/+4Damn you're a douche.
- epadafunk, on 12/21/2008, -3/+6Yay free stuff!
- luminousnerd, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3Freeware is not Shareware. Linux doesn't have much shareware to offer at all. Also, more apps does not mean better. Yes there are a billion freewares out there for linux, but most linux apps suck. That's not anything against Linux, it's a rock solid OS with many sound purposes. But it is an absolute undeniable fact that the vast majority of linux software is unpolished, ugly, difficult to use, unfinished, etc etc...
- neonoodle, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3enigmo 2 is ***** awesome.
- HotSaucePanCake, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3Yep your designation of using a Mac vs. PC is what turns a girl on.
I hope you have a hedge trimmer for all that nerd bush your getting. - luminousnerd, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3Synergy works just fine on Leopard.
- bedouin, on 12/21/2008, -1/+4Yeah, provided you have five hours to get WINE running it correctly.
- bedouin, on 12/21/2008, -1/+4Pretty much. Sad you're being dug down.
But I guess the same folks stockpile 0-day warez they'll never use. - allancorbett, on 12/22/2008, -1/+4Oops, what you're looking for isn't here!
:] - dragossh, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3@Rehasher01: No, they let them buy crappy Windows machines. Just today a friend of mine told me that the Windows XP installation threw him an error at the beginning of the GUI install stage. Meanwhile, Leopard is running great.
- onimpulseca, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3Synergy works for me on leopard...
- Phoenyx, on 12/22/2008, -0/+3Latest Synergy works on Leopard (it's site claims).
