It is not a computer made for everyone; not everyone has a need of a super thin computer at the cost of ports and performance, but that doesn't mean it's useless. It's like claiming the iMac is worthless as you as it doesn't fit in your rucksack.
For someone who travels alot, and who only wants to bring one bag of hand luggage, the difference between a Macbook and a Macbook Air is HUGE (it's a typical computer that you really need to hold in your hand to get a grasp of how incredibly small it is).
Now, this is starting to sound more and more as an Apple sponsored advertisement, so I'd like to end with admitting that the Air obviously got a very slim (no pun intended) target group, but it do exist. The park I frequent the most doesn't have a fountain. I really don't think I need to justify my purchase of water, or anything for that mater. I'm pretty sure I've read in a few places that we need it to survive.

I'm not going to go into detailed spec comparisons ... but seriously -- try running OS X, XP, and a 1 GB-of-memory-allocated process of Photoshop on the EEE PC at the same time, and using it all comfortably. If the tiny-ass keyboard doesn't give you witch-claw, you'll fossilize waiting for it to finish switching windows.
