    The name encourages shortening, removing the "Mac" branding, making it the "Airbook," much like how the iPod Touch is usually just called the "iTouch"
    The lack of Firewire is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
    ONE USB port? And even that needs a special adapter.
    MONO speaker? That's how I want to listen to the HD movie rentals from iTunes...

    They need to scrap this abortion of a Macbook and finish up the Newton2.

The macbook being 600 dollars cheaper, and the macbook pro being only 300 more. I don't see the market for this computer. Most people are probably going to opt for the larger hard drive, optical drive, usb, firewire, support of the other models, and won't be bothered that there computer is 3/4th of an inch thicker.

    It's thinner and weighs two pounds less. When I'm carrying around 25 lbs of textbooks I'm not going to care if my laptop is 2 lbs heavier, or .75 inches thicker, I'm going to care if I can store all of my projects on that computer though...

    Apple knows better then this. The only reason I can think of them doing it is to prevent 3rd party battery manufacturers stealing their dough, and to make manufacturing cheaper for themselves. Other then that, there is no good reason.

    To me, this is just another ploy to sell Applecare protection plans (and believe me, I've been working at an Apple premium reseller for a long time). In a years time, all your resellers will be claiming that when u need a battery replacement, you'll be given priority service, etc.

    My question is how long will Apple support these? There has to be a limit. In 5 years time Apple may no longer offer batteries for them, and you wont be able to easily install a 3rd party battery.

    So in the typical Apple user way of speaking about Vista, this doesn't make any business sense. Imagine having to send off 50 of these for battery replacements

The problem with Apple is that, while they have some awesome products, they let some glaring flaws creep into what otherwise would have been near perfection. I think Jobs needs to get some non-fanboys to advise him... I get the impression he's surrounded by a bunch of yes-men.

That's a great question that any potential costumer should care about. how long will I be without laptop that contains work, school, and/or private info that I need to access daily? I'd be in a information lockdown until Apple replaced the battery. While this sugar coating is nice, it's still really lame that I have to be without my computer for any amount of time.
