- potisreallygood, on 01/21/2008, -11/+51These are pretty sweet pics and what a killer box. Thats what makes apple products so amazing...cool boxes. However, I can't wait for the first batch of pictures taken of the MacBook Air being used while pooping.
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -10/+45Yes, *****, this will blend.
- invasi0n, on 01/21/2008, -6/+25I was wondering why are so many stories about this notebook... I'm not an Apple fan or hater but after reading many articles about MacBook Air I realized that the main attraction is its design only. Is this notebook so revolutionary?
- Lionhart, on 01/21/2008, -3/+22What the hell was the point of that?
- NJPENSO, on 01/21/2008, -16/+33Ok, this is lame.
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -14/+26/waste of money
- mythzach, on 01/22/2008, -1/+11I don't know why I just dugg that... hm.
- sizzam, on 01/22/2008, -8/+17Wow, I totally don't want one. Am I weird?
- Lionhart, on 01/21/2008, -9/+17Seriously. Cry about it.
- PathDaemon, on 01/22/2008, -0/+8You must be new here (and looking at your comment history makes me think you are).
What you just did? Don't do that. - DarkPrince11, on 01/22/2008, -0/+8Only if you're wearing your socks inside out.
- Chirp08, on 01/21/2008, -0/+7are you implying that you can use your Macbook or MBP with iSight to put on a good show?
- onClipEvent, on 01/21/2008, -4/+10Stupid Remote Disk question: Am I assuming correctly that the PC or Mac with the CD/DVD drive being borrowed needs to be on a wireless network as well? thanks
- bainfu, on 01/21/2008, -1/+7I am going to say no, I assume it just needs to be on the same network as the Air. It's probably some bonjour broadcasting thing that they built in. Also their Extensible Firmware Interface which handles the boot which you can wirelessly boot from another drive probably has that built in as well. I want to see if Knoppix or some kind of CD Zip Slack will run on it..
- mgrest, on 01/22/2008, -0/+5No, that's just for the version that's released in the Philippines...
- DestinRL, on 01/22/2008, -5/+10It's a thin laptop that can fit in a manila envelope. No cd drive, very expensive, and overall not worth the cost in my opinion.
- web2pointYo, on 01/21/2008, -3/+8More Evolutionary than Revolutionary. Like everything else in the world, if enough people buy it, they will keep making it, if not it will go away.
- phantom_mullet, on 01/22/2008, -2/+6Dang, I was kinda hoping it would come packaged in a manilla envelope...
- jasmus, on 01/22/2008, -0/+4I dugg you up, because you said "in my oppinion". I also believe it's not for me, but i like it as a device.
- mrmacky, on 01/22/2008, -0/+4Not much to smash
- mymate, on 01/21/2008, -5/+9yippi - more air spam
- bobbob1016, on 01/22/2008, -0/+3Was that supposed to be Speed Racer?
No. Just no. - inactive, on 01/22/2008, -1/+4Yeah, but in this case the person has put their photos on Flickr to share them with everyone. Here, MacRumors is profiting from this guy's photos by submitting the link to digg rather than submitting a link to the photos. I'm not against MacRumors posting the photos, I'm against normalkid and the rest of the MacRumors spam bots deliberately gaming digg and gaining profit in this way.
- Rice, on 01/22/2008, -0/+3I think that firmware wireless booting is actually a revolutionary feature that should be backported to all other Intel Macs... is it just me?
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -12/+15I just don't like to see MacRumors profiting from the hard work and photography of others. It happens all too often here.
I think the common term is "blogspam".
When it comes down to it though, you can either digg this story and then have to click through to the photos or you can digg a direct link to the photos. I believe that submitting a direct link is one of the first things you are told to do on the submit page. - betobeto, on 01/22/2008, -0/+3Photos made private now. Like, meh. I'm so not fapping to this.
- laserone, on 01/22/2008, -0/+3That article links to photos on flickr that are now set to private. Bummer.
- noeljohnhoward, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3you are a dick
- fkr3, on 01/21/2008, -3/+5Don't get all pissy because your precious site was called out for lifting someone else's content and shoving your ads aroudn someone else's hard work.
Crappy business model, crappy site, crappy people who digg that *****. - azazel00, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3Couldn't have said it better.
- jhshukla, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2box? why not envelope?
- fugazi, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2Then you are an idiot.
- Sabin, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3It has a full sized foot print making it less portable than other subnotebooks at the same price point. Thin is nice but really it is the same size as the macbook in all other dimensions. Apple touts its full size screen and keyboard as a selling point but for its target market it is more of a stumbling block.
- crowbar77, on 01/21/2008, -3/+5I wonder how the air will do over there, especially with there obsession with slim electronics. It's hard to say though, considering there loyalty to domestic brands.
- dood, on 01/21/2008, -1/+3It'd need to be available via whatever network the Air is using, so yeah. That said, it could be a wired device plugged in to the back of a wifi router or something.
- jfowler27, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2Not really. MS like to advertise on a lot of "competitor" sites just as many companies do.
- smrekar, on 01/22/2008, -3/+5Theoretically you could house your files on a computer and netboot the MBA. This is nice to know for robust home applications for richer clients. that is a great way to access all of the files on any household computer. Also sweet for Graphic Design classes at universities. Bring your MBA, and wirelessly boot the classes Netboot image, no need to purchase the software individually when the school can buy a volume license and you can use your own computer.
- DarkPrince11, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?
- lacreme, on 01/21/2008, -3/+5Why aren't you using AdBlock Plus?
Blasphemy! - brisbin33, on 01/21/2008, -5/+7its cool man; he's right to call you pissy but blogspam is blogspam and i dugg yours not his
- BOFH2, on 01/22/2008, -7/+9I am posting pics of me un-wrapping underwear later!
- PathDaemon, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2Jesus christ no. Creative packaging gave us blister packs last time.
- acetv, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3*Their
*adjusts cape* - palmer, on 01/22/2008, -2/+3Thus the craven, meaningless nature of modern human existence is confirmed, as morons flock to see images of.... a box.
- unionaire, on 01/22/2008, -1/+2Now the Wireless boot feature is something Apple did right! Even though it's taking such a long time.
- EnderMB, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1Finally, a Mac its users can work up their own asses.
- dheaddy, on 01/22/2008, -2/+3Why is it when they need a close-up shot of someone using a trackpad, they get the guy with the jagged dirty nails and some kind of yellow spot on his finger to pose for it? Eurgh
- Tippis, on 01/22/2008, -2/+3In three years, your fast computer will be slow.
In three years, his small computer will still be small. - Cerebral, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1Just remember that this is not made for the enterprise environment so as SPECOPS said it would have to be on the local subnet. You would probably need to setup something special on your router to pass the traffic along.
This sounds similar to PXE booting but you don't have an opportunity to use a NAS or any other source for your network boot. -
