- mke01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8dual pacman stories atop the front page!! it is truly a great day for those us old enough to have owned this game on the atari.
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7if you guys want too see it actually being played...

there ya go.
by definition what he's showing is a screenshot. - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It is about as stable as it's gonna get.
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4royall64, technically these are screenshots, so this isn't inaccurate. you just misinterperated what screenshot meant.
- noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No, because it is reversible by just restoring your ipod with the update utility. The only thing that will void your iPod in terms of modification are hacks that either modify the firmware on your iPod and end up turning it into a brick or things that involve opening the iPod up.
- Aeiri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Because if you actually take a look at the content of the page, it links to external screenshots that show the iPod in the image.
Links for the completely retarded and lazy:

http://www.umlautllama.com/gallery/nanomame - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Two pacman stories on the front page?
- kortiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3what kind of screenshots are those? we want to see a picture of the nano running the game. we know how pac man looks like!
- chewbaccapits, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3can you VOID your warranty if you install linux on it? Really?
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I will stick to my mame arcade machine. Its a cool concept but the ipod was just not meant to play games.
- BIllyBobFett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"How do we know that that's really on the iPod?"
iPod Linux is a real project; that site is much more credible than the random Russian tabloids that a lot of digg users link to.
Also, that is incredibly cool. I don't own an iPod, but I'm starting to want one because of all the cool hacks. - kolop1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 Nothing like playing a game with that intolerable scroll wheel.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Danke, I now have proof.
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found this via fark.com

I think they are steeling our front page or we are stealing theirs. - NOFXY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i considered it myself a while back too and thought about the risks involved. To be honest, the only risk is that you'll have is that if it "screws" up your iPod you'll have to spend some time reformatting it and then spending some more time updating songs from your computer to your iPod again. Which is exactly what happened to me. I'll definitely try it again if and when they have support for the 5th gen iPod.
- jupo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just bought a Nano last night and if it supports this I'm going to try it. I think Street Fighter II would be kind of clumsy running on the iPod however I love MAME so i'll give it a shot!
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i just noticed this on their wiki...
Warning: The iPod firmware update for 26 June 2005 will not allow you to use iPodLinux, though RetailOS seems to work without problems. Please note that you are running this on an unsupported iPod in the first place. Don't come on the forums or IRC unless you have a fix or helpful details to the developers!
so does that mean since I've updated my ipod since i pought it in august of 2005 i can't use this?
i dont know...i'm going to wait this one out. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Portuguese / Brazilian : http://www.htk.com.br/noticia.php?noticia=221

http://www.htk.com.br/ - ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh man, i wanna play mario and tetris on my iPod so bad. if only nintendo would liscence them to apple...mind you if I want that I should just go get the new DS. still...it would be ever so cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cute idea!
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2if I ever get around to getting a new iPod i'll play with this one...and I know what game I wanna play SOOOO badly! MICHAEL JACKSON'S MOONWALKER!
- Killerah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet! I love the nano sized arcade cab!
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i have a 4G ipod with colour screen. 20 gb.
- dmr182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I also have a 4G, but b&w. I used the tutorial found at http://ipodlinux.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6099 and it installed without a hitch. That tut will install iPL and Floydzilla, and also works for 4G colors aswell, so if you have a Windows computer you shouldn't have any problem with it. Now i'm just trying to get some videos converted so I can watch them on my iPod!
- paleck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why does this come out AFTER my iPod hard drive died.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's a screenshot of it running on my 5G iPod. If I can make a short movie that's not irretrievably blurry, I'll post the link.
http://www.electronsoup.net/?q=node/271 - dmr182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just installed iPodLinux on my iPod this past weekend and it works like a charm. It only took me one try to get it on there, too. What kind of iPod do you have? There are some really good tutorials in the forums for installing...
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I HATE Engadget.com, they have so many sript errors on their pages that are SOOOOO easily fixed. I have emailed them 5 or 6 times in the last 3 months, and still no change.
- digdugdig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, especially since the Atari 2600 version was pretty much the worst conversion of the bunch ;)
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More like concreting rather than steeling.
- Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Cant wait to get a stable version for the ipod photo.
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1no problemo kortiz2
- kortiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ ehmjay,
thats better thanks - diggumjonez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I have tried it out on 2 of my ipods and haven't had any problem. the worst case scenario might be that you lose whatever music you had on it at the time, but Apple's ipod restore tool is pretty good.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow.
- DenZ88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The future is looking so bright for iPodlinux.
I'm afraid that it'll brick my ipod photo though, so I'm still not ready to give it a shot, although Street Fighter II would be insane (I think they should use the touch-sensitive so I itd be easier to manuever, although the current controls are perfect for pacman).
I love emulation - VSKBadCRC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gotta hand it to Linux and the minds behind these kinds of projects. I don't own an iPod, but I look forward to these kinds of things for the NintendoDS on their Linux OS.
- MaLaCoiD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I put FloydZilla on my 2gig Nano. You have to partition and repartition and restore and partition and install. It's quite a complicated process. I screwed up several times, but could always use iPod Restore to get back in control. Fear is the path to the dark side.
- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apple's missing an opportunity to reach out to the portable gaming market with the iPod.
- eeeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd like to know if you can listen to the music on your ipod while playing pac man. that would be the coooolest.
- domr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1MAME is cool, but my video of Half Life on the Nano was cooler. :)
http://digg.com/gaming/Play_Half-Life_on_iPod_Nano - ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1if only i wasn't so terrified about installing linux on my iPod. I spent too much on a warentee to find out i cant use it anymore.
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Cool, something new useing ipod linux!
- Edibear, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35G = fifth generation ipod
- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I'd love to install it but unfortunately it is not worth the risk. According to the article, there's a 5G version?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7The screenshots don't even show anything. How do we know that that's really on the iPod? Reported for inaccurateness.
