- BrendanSheehan, on 03/23/2009, -2/+21The desktop client looks very interesting. You'd be doing well to get me to give up Tweetie on de phone though.
- techdever, on 03/24/2009, -2/+16a new day, a new Twitter client
- r3zonance, on 03/24/2009, -2/+13"oh right, any good OS X app never gets ported to Windows, now if it were the other way around..."
The really good OS X stuff doesn't get ported to Windows usually because of the immense work that would be involved in reproducing some of the excellent frameworks that Apple provides. - rrbaker, on 03/24/2009, -0/+7I know, right!? This is the internet. Everything must be free and how DARE those developers try to profit off their hard work. For shame.
- mrBitch, on 03/24/2009, -1/+8RE: " The really good OS X stuff doesn't get ported to Windows usually because of the immense work that would be involved in reproducing some of the excellent frameworks that Apple provides."
Absolutely spot on, also the fact that the UI is bundled in with the frameworks makes a port quite a bit of extra work. - g33kfu, on 03/24/2009, -2/+9What? No support for Twitpic? Useless...
- freshyill, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3You're part of the problem.
- consolejocky, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3The question should be: Why do you have friends that announce when they *****? The problem isn't with the social tools, but who who are socializing with. Upgrade the people (if the target group doesn't feel you're a downgrade) and things may seem more useful.
- repmekevets, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2in agreement with @freshyill
@chris7878, you're a douchebag. maybe if you twittered anything of value people would follow you naturally. - TimmyGUNZ, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Did you happen to see the "beta" on the page? Give it time!
- cluenotyou, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2How about everyone that has a BlackBerry or an Andriod phone just gets an iPhone eh??
- kiddcode, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Weird. I've got Lounge installed and it's giving me growl notifications.
- mikepictor, on 03/24/2009, -1/+3If you can afford to be online, you can afford $1.99
- gazpoole, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2the application's pretty nice though!
- moog, on 03/24/2009, -2/+4Hows about a BlackBerry port eh? Not everyone runs Android.
- jonahan52, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1I bet you'll tweet about having your sandwich of a coffee too!
- djrbx, on 03/24/2009, -2/+3Tried it and although it does have it's promises, it's still tweetdeck and twitterfon for me..
- djbon2112, on 03/24/2009, -3/+4Can someone please make a decent Twitter client for Windows Mobile? There's already 3 solid apps for the iPhone, but I can't even get one for WM6 that will somehow notify me when someone tweets!?
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Its less than the price of a sandwich of a coffee you cretin
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Twitter and Apple will implode the planet with giant suck.
- bcclist, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1VERY solid iPhone App! Rumored to be slow but I didn't have an issue using on 3g or wifi.
- coldeh, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1That website is awful.
- KMartSheriff, on 03/24/2009, -2/+3Please, explain to us its "real intention".
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1spamming digg 10x a day with stories about it. that is the real purpose of twitter
- jason1973, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Would be tough to beat Tweetie.
- kibbledbits, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1TweetDeck is cross platform and seems to work well
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/24/2009, -2/+2Just tried iphone version.
It looks nice but is very slow and prone to crashing.
Needs a 'tweet' button without forcing you to scroll to the top.
Nice read/unread indicator and counter badge somewhere
Needs snap to oldest unread - consolejocky, on 03/24/2009, -0/+0Thanks for helping me become a spammer. This is going to save a lot of time and labor in being a dick.
- rrbaker, on 03/24/2009, -3/+3Eh. Pretty happy with TweetDeck / Tweetie myself. Going to need a lot more polish by the time it comes out of beta to pull me away from those.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 03/24/2009, -2/+2So far I'm liking it. It's cleaner than Tweetdeck which suffers from overcrowding. My only complaints are that it's kind of slow (when jumping from friends, replies, etc.), no support for Twitpic yet, and no integrated option for URL shortening. Other than that, it's very promising.
- consolejocky, on 03/24/2009, -0/+0That was weird and random, poster who likely yells at squirrels in the park.
***** off plate of eggs! - foomojive, on 03/24/2009, -3/+31. no groups! when are twitter clients going to get groups like tweetdeck? that's like the whole point of a twitter client.
2. no growl notifications. all i want is groups and the ability to turn on/off growl notifications for each group. the rest is fluff. - eleonooore, on 03/26/2009, -0/+0Growl notifications work fine for me too.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -3/+2badazz... nice app!
- mayonaize, on 03/24/2009, -3/+2Desktop wise I discovered one that's open source and available on ..everything desktop wise I think, but for me it seems to do the job. It's somewhat bizarrely called Spaz and there's a OSX theme for it called Leopaz that makes it sit ok on my picky MacBook at least.
It IS an AIR app mind, but does growlish notifications, not groups though I don't think (still playing with it). - freshyill, on 03/24/2009, -3/+2I like it. Crashy, but it's too early to fault it for that. I'm definitely keeping my eye on it.
- OmarJasso, on 03/24/2009, -2/+1SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME
- xorbital, on 03/24/2009, -3/+2adium 1.4 will have twitter integration. you can grab an early peek by building the svn nightly (which is pretty stable atm), not super feature complete yet but its pretty nice so far. lounge is slick but i'll stick w/ adium.
- geerlingguy, on 03/24/2009, -4/+3Spiffy! Testing, and it works much, much better than Twhirl. 0.0 processor usage when idling (that never happened for an Air app), and a small memory footprint. I'm a convert.
- gazpoole, on 03/24/2009, -3/+2still think syrinx is better.
http://tinyurl.com/6kpkfw - SugarRay, on 03/24/2009, -5/+3Its obvious that you don't use it for its real intention. Its not Facebook.
- phunction, on 03/24/2009, -5/+2twitux kicks it's ass :O
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -6/+2so twitter is paying for stories on ars as well as digg now
- OmarJasso, on 03/24/2009, -6/+2Looks yucky if you ask me.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 03/24/2009, -12/+7If there's something in the tech world completely over-rated and ridiculously over-hyped; it's twitter.
- o6uoq, on 03/24/2009, -10/+5Tweetie, is there anything you can't do?
- chris7878, on 03/24/2009, -5/+0Check http://www.twitterautofollow.com to find more followers. Clients are no good if nobody is listening.
- KMartSheriff, on 03/24/2009, -9/+3Buried for Twitter.
- artfuldodga, on 03/24/2009, -8/+2what about a Windows port? oh right, any good OS X app never gets ported to Windows, now if it were the other way around...
- Elranzer, on 03/24/2009, -10/+3More Twitter spam. Nothing to see here.
