- trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Welcome to public media where popularity counts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It's a good thing the description told me twice who won, or else I might have forgotten...
- gropo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3*Posted from a G4 originally purchased in 2000, upgraded Radeon 9000, RAM, HDD and Dual 1.8Ghz daughter card.
Digg parent down for inaccuracy. And well, just being generally *****. - mbball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"It just uses hardware that can't be upgraded and an inferior operating system (OS X)."
I never knew Mac's hardware couldn't be upgraded. Pretty funny since I just recently installed some RAM. Also, Mac OS X kicks Window's butt in several aspects.
So, if you were trying to make a balanced scale there, guess who just won. *cough*The Mac*cough* - sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12Does anyone else find this pathetic?
- ravenmuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2> inferior operating system (OS X)
Yeah, I agree, Mac OS X is absolutely pathetic at picking up viruses, locking up during intensive operations because of Windows' poor SMP multiprocessing, not redrawing windows when a program is not responding, bad for making you find files using a convoluted tree structure, running every process as root making pwnership a rather simple matter for every new trojan that appears, poor at causing software incompatibilities through DLL hell and poorly written drivers crashing the kernel, and ... oh what's the point, you're just a clueless Windroid.
If you want to get a clue:
Unix-bases OSes (Mac OS X, Linux, Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc) are superior to Windows in every way except market penetration. And the latter simply means that Windows will always suffer more attacks no matter how secure Microsoft tries to make the Windows Vista Ultimate RG (Really Good) Edition, coming real soon now, for the low low price of $$$ and your time to sort out all the problems. - 13tongimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This isn't a real award. It's an article in Advertising Age. This isn't the Clio's or anything of that nature.
- Blue_Eon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Here is Hodgman's audiobook if you want to listen to it...you'll need iTunes.
http://www.boingboing.net/2006/12/19/the_areas_of_my_expe.html - KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree with trghpy: Digg's problems in this respect are a mirror of already existing mainstream media practice, not the other way around.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8They piss me off because they're pointless and wrong. I use a PC for music, games, and other fun things. They try to play it like PCs can't do anything involving anything fun. Where's the games for macs?
- trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I fail to see your logic since a majority of digg submissions are news articles or BS blogs pointing to news articles.
I've seen just as many mainstream news reports about the hikers on lost Mt. Hood as the James Kim story. Wheres the Digg coverage?
YouTube and the blog world are setting what our news covers because they're popular. Holly *****, digg defines news by its popularity maybe there is a connection.
I think its kinda pathetic you keep calling these groups "fan boys" because they're interested in a topic. If you're anti-fan boy then you can go screw off because guess what, we're a diverse culture and we all like different *****. - ravenmuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In fact, the dude in this video showing how to play Half-Life 2 using a Wii Remote, is actually using a MacBook Pro as the Windows machine...

Get a Mac, and you've pretty much covered all bases. - KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Why, could it be because you disagree with them? And if so, wouldn't that only cause you anger if there were some hint of truth to what was being said?
It is very difficult for a reasonable person to be angered by [harmless] nonsense. - gropo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Funny how the people that view Justin Long's Mac performance as "conceited" or "smug" seem to be bringing their own baggage to the table.
The author of the linked article helped me realize it's just not the case. Pretty good performances representing respect and humbleness, really. - ravenmuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Where's the games for macs?
There are Mac ports of popular games, but if the game you want is Windows-only, eg, Half-Life, then there's this:
All Macs are now Intel-based and have a feature called "Boot Camp" which lets you install Windows on a separate partition. So, boot into Windows, play games. A Mac actually makes a pretty good PC. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2There are fanboys on Digg. If you think your system is better than the rest, you're a fanboy. Havn't you seen the huge flamewars on the PC vs Mac diggs? You can be interested in a topic all you like, when you say your system is better, you're a fanboy.
- mtxe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@novaHands
x2
for the record I use a Mac and love it
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Then, being(according to you) they are so wrought with nonsense, just ignore them. I don't get emotional about people claiming that the sky is red, or that aluminum is magnetic, or other such nonsense. I believe it is still a telling sign that something is wrong when someone does feel anger in such situations, usually with the feeler :p.
- PrinceofSpace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Advertising Age is the trade magazine for the ad industry. The award is for best performance, not best campaign.
- Kinser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The get a mac ads made me... Not want to get a mac.
I wouldn't have ever gotten one anyway because i'm happy with my
custom built pc that is better than any mac on the market. But...
I dunno do mac fanboys like being portrayed as pompus *****
who don't know that pc's can do everything that a mac can?
I mean when it comes down to it a Mac is a PC.
It just uses hardware that can't be upgraded and an inferior operating system (OS X). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7Those commercials piss me off.
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2'Cause Mac hardware == PC hardware and you'd have to be one of those people that have to be reminded by tech support to plug in the power cable to believe them...
- bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Which one played the male? They both looked like bitches to me.

What is Digg?
