- MikeTRose, on 02/22/2008, -2/+43This just makes me smile. Twitter-tracking your iPhone... we are living in the future. [Not recommended for cheating spouses,Tony Soprano or professional spies.]

DON'T STEAL THAT iPHONE, ITS A TRAP! - juzz101, on 02/22/2008, -1/+15I was just thinking about that ... I could see cheating spouses being caught out by their tech-savvy other half. "Happy birthday dear, here's an iPhone!" (little do they know!)
- g33b33, on 02/22/2008, -1/+12Works like a charm:
http://twitter.com/geebiphone - benplaut, on 02/22/2008, -0/+10I'm going to stalk you, now that you've made it so easy.
- nape, on 02/22/2008, -0/+9how would this help me if my iphone got stolen? lets say your phone gets stolen, then your twitter shows a mile radius in the bad part of town, what do you do? start interrogating everyone within a mile radius?
- lovekudu, on 02/22/2008, -0/+8Could you tell me where the ethernet plug is? I've been looking for days and no luck. Guess I must be missing something.
- keozen, on 02/22/2008, -0/+8We know where you LIVE!
- DeathJux, on 02/22/2008, -1/+8Congratulations, you aren't moving. :-P
Seems like you could use this as a motivation to get out of the house... perhaps by encouraging your twitter friends to harass you if they don't see it moving around much. - 80hd, on 02/22/2008, -0/+6That is pure genious.
I wonder if an ipod touch IP address version can exist (Verizon lock-ins suck) - jls33fsls, on 02/22/2008, -1/+5Great idea, but I would like to see it developed more and maybe be able to implement a map and other things along those lines.
- likwidfuzion, on 02/22/2008, -0/+4Lost or stolen, it's not as useful as it sounds. If it's lost, your best bet is to call your iPhone and hopefully pickup the ringtone to find it. If it's stolen, then all the perpetrator needs to do is (1) turn off the iPhone and (2) restore in iTunes. If either of that happens, good luck finding your iPhone.
- kkiran, on 02/22/2008, -1/+4Ha haa, this app is really useful seeing how many iPhones are being stolen these days. Erica rocks!! I would prefer an SMS update rather than a call though... Lot of hackery invovled to make it work and I am sure, we can see a fully automated app very soon in installer.app!!
- ghee, on 02/22/2008, -5/+8For some reason I read the title as "LolJack your iPhone". Yeah, I think I spend too much time on the internets.
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+3oh christ, lighten up, *****.
- Twelve-60, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3you're both idiots
- fliped, on 02/22/2008, -3/+6Too bad I already lost my iPhone...
Yes.. it hurts... - trebuchet03, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2How deliciously Orwellian...
- jebidiah123, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2It's obvious the government uses it to track you.
- libradragon, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2The iPhone definitely lacks a return address feature if it gets lost. My Treo had the owner's contact details on the lock page. If I lose my iPhone, I'm ***** --good samaritan or not.
- skeeterou, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2ur kidding, right?
- lolinyerface, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Tweets? Treats?
- starkruzr, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Buried for "too small of a gb."
Why is it that I don't seem to have a problem putting music and movies on mine?
The iPhone is the only choice right now for people who want a powerful, UNIX-powered, well-supported, well-designed mobile device. It's unfortunate that at the moment you have to jailbreak it for it to actually be useful to technical users, but once you do, the sky's the limit. - frostieDude, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Crocks are often unaware of such things.
- lovekudu, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2xcorbin: You can change your IMEI with ziPhone
- shiftclick, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1My favorite iPhone application yet... and the SDK hasn't even been released yet!
- ksong12, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1It doesn't call you, it posts on your Twitter account. Would you really want a SMS a day from your phone reporting its location?
- bsonline, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Probably much less than having your phone check email for you every 15 minutes or so. Two - 12 times updating Twitter isn't that big of a deal, but every time it updates you can't receive calls for a few seconds.
- CaviMike, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2Totally relevant!
- elhaf, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Voluntarily giving up information to a private company is a whole different animal from government surveillance. You can always stop the twitter account if you want.
- razrielle, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Same with the sidekicks if you take the time to put the phone lock on
- morpheus69, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2Hello Twitter, this is Agent Smith from the FBI. We'd like you to track down a few "terrorists" for us. Yeah, they have iPhones. What's that? Yeah, we're really sure they're terrorists. We'd never abuse our new powers on a non-terrorism investigation.
Warrant? Do we have a warrant you say? Don't you bother about that, we don't need those anymore, remember? OK, just SMS me the info and thanks for keeping America safe from "terrorists"! - callmejordy265, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1This can't go anywhere good...
This is a stalker's wetdream. - bsonline, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Nextel has had this sort of tracking for ages with all of their phones. I'm glad to see a solution that more people can use.
I really look forward to seeing this on Android phones, especially the GPS enabled variety.
Meanwhile, my wife's iPhone was stolen a couple of months ago. We knew who did it (a student, only one to come into her office) and just had to prove it. A few days of tracking data would have been great. Especially since we could show the day that he missed school would have been the day it wasn't there. For some reason, he carried the phone around with him.
I would also love to load the data into something to show me my driving patterns. Better yet, something to send messages depending on location.
If I enter area x,y then send text message to wife. She can then put my dinner in the microwave. If she enters area x,y then send me a text message. I can then put my mistress out the window. :-)
There is so much that happens dependant upon location, this really does open up a LOT of possibilities. Notice the use of larger letters for "LOT". That means even more possibilities than if I had used "lot". - howser2007, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2It already implements a map. It makes twitter link to Google maps.
- starkruzr, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Settings > Options > Customize Topics > uncheck "Apple."
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. - bsonline, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1You can change your IMEI with the iPhone, you just can't update it afterwards. Most of the original unlock hacks used this method.
If you disable the IMEI (disconnect your phone) then you can't call it. It also means that unless the iPhone is close to wifi, it can't message you. That's ok, though, because this LoJack wouldn't work with a disconnected phone. You can't triangulate towers if you can't connect to them.
The theif would have to have the cable in order to restore in iTunes. - keyme, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Are there similar programs for other phones? Say a Motorola V3x?
I guess that a Java app won't do the trick. Maybe a firmware patch?
If anyone knows, please leave a comment. - thecheatah, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1I knew there was gono be someone who would say that!
- MacMan88, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1there's a reason it's called twitter...
- ElCazador, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Don't think so, but there is a Motorola V3x with a theft-deterrent option. It's PINK.
- ElCazador, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Hey, look everybody! 'Solarbip' is a Troll!
- jls33fsls, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1I know, but I mean like all in one, instead of just a link to the location, be able to like mark a path or something along those lines.
- ElCazador, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Hmm. Now g33b33's 'Updates are protected'. Must've realized the error of his ways!
- ElCazador, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Ha! You only think we care.
- ElCazador, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Geez, anyone else sick of the whole 'i-prefix' thing?
I swear, if they keep it up, I'm gonna iSNAP!!! >( -
