- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29How bouts a live feed FROM APPLE like used to be done.
- dcipjr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Tuesday is right. I can't believe that stories like this are making the homepage already...this is almost as bad as Christmas ads on the day after Halloween.
When it's actually time for the keynote, use http://www.macrumorslive.com/ -- it provides live text coverage using AJAX, so you don't have to refresh: - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Evey ***** website will be doing this. Now who wants to do a live video feed?
- shyguy01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22http://www.macrumorslive.com/
Should be doing an auto-refreshing sort of thing like last year
Also see http://www.worldofapplelive.com/ - Sethwm2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I want live video feed that is nice thank you very much
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Yeah, and the title made me believe this was it.
Marked as innacurate. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Tuesday I thought...
- MakinBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Four years ago I called my cable company and subscribed to TechTV because they carried it live. They used to run cool ***** like that... now the channel is basically made up of four crappy shows (AOTS, X-Play, Cheat and Icons) which are repeated five times a day. The people who run G4 are so lame... that's why I cancelled my subscription.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This is lame. We need one of those live auto-refreshing/self-updating ones like last year.
- mytimac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wish Apple would make public the transponder info so we could watch the live sat feed again. Hate that they stopped a couple years ago.
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Why can't Apple provide a video feed?? I for one would be willing to pay for it.
- blakespot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6MacRumors has, over the past few years, provided very compelling coverage without lag or slowdown (thanks to server rampup for the event). This year should be the best coverage from MacRumors yet. MacRumors staff will be attending the keynote working real-time updates.
http://www.macrumors.com - jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I remember going to the Apple dealer/store and eating lunch with the guys there while we watched the sat feed. Those were the days! Why did Apple stop with the live VIDEO feed?
- pabloD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Relax, it's a Family Guy joke.
- joetek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Lame! It requires a login!
- milkmage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6WTF is specific time? you mean PAcific as in west coast? if it's "live" and starts at 9AM PAcific, that would be noon EST.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No one can do a live video feed. If you've ever been to a Keynote you'd know the policies and how strictly Apple enforces them. You should see all the security guards around the Apple booth at the Expo while we're all setting up things on Monday. Even if someone was to use the iSight on their MPB to attempt to broadcast live from the Keynote they throttle the bandwidth in the Moscone so you'd be SOL. The only thing I could see working is someone with a Sprint mobile broadband card and one of these Huckleberrys. http://www.ecamm.com/mac/huckleberry/ But good luck if you get busted.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The Stevenote is on Tuesday and since this one has been on digg, I won't even bother with it since it will almost surely be swamped. Engadget usually does well with the demand.
- bSimms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Don't think most of us have ever been to a keynote.
But i'll take your word for it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They CLAIM they're going to have audio. They rebroadcast Steve talking and I can guarantee they'll be looking at a lawsuit from Apple. Retransmission of the Keynote in any way without prior written consent is illegal.
- benwaterworth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3and there was me expecting a live feed of the future *rollseyes*
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Everyone knows that all these sites are just gonna get frontpage'd next Tuesday.
- cal0001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.worldofapplelive.com/ is going to have audio
- morphie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just use the macrumers IRC channel. That's the most realtime you can get.
- ckohler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apple hasn't done live video streaming for several years now. On a good note, they have consistently posted a video of the keynote just a few hours later for download. So expect the be able to watch the keynote sometime in the afternoon.
- petejonesrn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Engadget had the best coverage for the "Showtime" event, complete with digital photos and text as the event unfolded. Easily the best coverage for that keynote. Hopefully they'll be doing the same thing for MWSF.
- eagleswings, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Another link is here: http://theappleblog.com/2007/01/05/macworld-live-coverage/
- longofest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, and we're gonna be able to be sending live (or semi-live) photos from the event as well, using the same AJAX stuff that drives the text.
- McZiggz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Live feed of pictures and video from the whole week!
http://sharemacworld.com
The idea is: People can use their camera phones to take pictures throughout the week (including the Keynote), and can share them here. Everyone who joins will be able to see an ongoing timeline of events from MacWorld, through the eyes of (hopefully) many different people.
It should be like a, real time, shared stream of consciousness from a variety of points of view (anyone can participate) from the event. - rupertz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apple Matters will be doing live coverage at http://live.applematters.com
- petejonesrn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/12/live-from-the-steve-jobs-keynote-its-showtime/
- ckufggid1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah! ROX ONN M$! YEAH! like applesuxleo sayz!!!....vista touchscreens are gonna ownz all!!! YEAHHHHH WOOOOOOOO.....Vista roxerz dudez..itz like gotz these cool screen things called GADGETS, not widgets...and oh oh oh and like it has muthphuken supersearch from hell like spotlight, but better because it's different color and well yeah....rulez on MSCS fansz!!! Oh Oh Oh and and the VISTA is gooona like NOT support EFI fimware, instead use old BIOS and thatz cool cause we don't like dualCore quad zeon intel anything...and the supercool new database based filesystem winfs Won't also be in Vista, but that's OK we will just polish the turd to make it look better and sell it. So besides these things you can bet it roxxxxxxz duderz.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah look at how the Apple Store online goes down for an hour or two after the Keynote, then imagine what kinda bandwidth you'd be looking at to stream video on top of that.
- ignorantcow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had a dream last night. The keynote had color coded "tickets" to mark each "stage" of it, the iPhone was revealed first- with motion sensing capabilities to "enable dynamic gaming".
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They've tried in the past and bandwidth just wasn't up to the demand.
- kyoung989, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Tuesday.
Wednesday if you live in the Marshall Islands. - idean360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe they are trying to build some traffic for their fan sites, and of course save money. I bet half as many poeple download it a couple hours later. Bandwith is expensive.
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Yeah look at how the Apple Store online goes down for an hour or two after the Keynote, then imagine what kinda bandwidth you'd be looking at to stream video on top of that."
It goes down because Apple pulls it down while they update it...notice how none of the rest of the site ever goes down...
And may I note, Apple is the company pioneering digital video downloads, if anyone can find the bandwidth for this, you'd think it would be Apple..and adding a small fee of say $4.99 for the streaming keynote would see A LOT of the pressure taken off the servers... - clinko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The last few years i've been using http://hdivo.com to put a few autorefreshing feeds at once. I'm sure i'll do it again this year.
- bvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it means it starts specifically at noon. hehe
- xistboi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would like to put my hat in the ring for live coverage...
http://uneasysilence.com/macworld - longofest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1macrumors will also be supplying live (well, 1-3 minute delayed) photos, using the same AJAX technology that powers our text feed (so you don't have do constant page refreshes).
- ThePerchik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Tuesday the 9th I think
- bvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Thats at noon, Eastern and specific time.
- jsnell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Every web site under the sun will be doing live coverage. Why is this diggable?
- KyleGoetz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Buried as inaccurate. The article is accurate, but the submitter implies that the keynote is today (or whatever day he originally submitted this article).
- ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1digg down
- technophobe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0ffs it's not until Tuesday, I've just sat down with a brew to watch it.
- applesuxLeo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Listen to "Mr Apple" Leo LaPorte rave about the new features in Vista...and he also admits some Mac experts love it too http://www.twit.tv/ww
Then take a look at what X BOX 360 will do at CES http://www.gizmodo.com/
Dean T. of the Mercury News just made an oops and leaked some Xbox 360 announcements Microsoft was planning on dropping next week at CES. Not only does he mention the improved Xbox 360s with 120GB hard drives and HDMI ports, he also talks about the use of the Xbox 360 as an IPTV set-top-box.
The leak says Microsoft's IPTV services will have instant channel change, multiple picture-in-picture, broadcast shows, video on demand, and DVR functionality—gotta use those 120GB for more than just trailers.
Sounds like Dean Takahashi's getting a Takahating from Microsoft tomorrow. – Jason Chen
