First thing he said "it looks just like vista!". I was about to bash his skull against the keyboard but then I looked closer and *****, it did kind of look like vista. The wallpaper and then the...*sigh* transparent top-bar. I mean a wallpaper is a wallpaper but when combined with the top-bar to me it seemed mocking, until I saw it everywhere and realized they were serious :/

Some people I know skinned XP as good as they could, to make it look like Vista. This is basically just the same. If somebody developed a hack for the Tiger-dock that would make it similar to the dock in Leopard, I would use it. - cklol, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Hmm.. I took a better photo than that...

I, myself, am a huge Apple fanboy, and would buy pretty much anything they release simply because of the logo; However, this image strays from their usual "minimalistic" persona to mirror a beauty found mostly in Windows.
Apple's definition of beauty is found in simplicity, not in the commercially aesthetic. By this, I mean what most people see as beautiful, such as the image in question. This different take on what is beautiful is why Apple does so well, and why they've overcome so much within their years. Apple appeals to those of whom despise pink, glittery Myspace layouts, and prefer a couple buttons here and there.
In all, I believe Apple's strong point was simplicity. However simplistic this image is, I feel it strays a tad bit too far from their usual standpoint, and follows too closely the path taken by Microsoft. I'd hate to say it, but Apple can do better than this. =/ - palmerized, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I agree that this looks WAY too much like Vista. I always look to Apple for some kick-ass "Aqua" type of wallpapers. And, for Steve to say that people put their digital photos up there anyway, well, how many people would use a photo of some grass vs. pics of their kids, or a beautiful landscape, etc. I really do find this selection odd. When you see Apple apps like iPhoto, Aperture, etc demoed, they always have fantastic "lifestyle" shots -- IMO, if they wanted to showcase putting your own digital photos up there then they should have used something like that.

I'm not a fan of the background, I'll continue to use my own stuff. And as far as the transparent menu bar goes, I really hope that's adjustable, because I'm not a fan of that either, especially when the drop down menus aren't even transparent. - razit3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4it looks like vista wallpaper
