- TEHxINTERWEBS, on 03/31/2008, -33/+136Has Vista ever won anything?
- 4pple5auce, on 03/31/2008, -22/+124Vista's enterprise features won't be very useful until Server 2008 is adopted. The same thing happened with XP and Server 2003. This article is a joke. Would it be fair to ask mac fanboys how SharePoint stands up to its Mac equivalent? Oh, there is no Mac equivalent. How about Microsoft Dynamics, where's Apple's version of that? Corporate customers... please, maybe for graphic design companies.
- DiggOrNotToDigg, on 03/31/2008, -9/+81If I am not mistaken, this article is written by Gregg Keizer who wrote a book called "Using the Macintosh for Everything"

Vista has won an award for the biggest disappointment of 2007. - estvir, on 03/31/2008, -14/+62Because as you said, you have a FEW Macs which are used for TESTING purposes.
- Evildudetx, on 03/31/2008, -3/+47I would love to know what 'corporations' they used for their statisics. I've worked for a large number of fortune 500 companies and none of them use apple products for anything other than very specific niche needs.
- DaffyDuck, on 03/31/2008, -4/+44Corporations rarely use pre-installed machines...at least ones with real IT departments.
- dilibau, on 03/31/2008, -25/+59lo and behold! plethora of Apple fanboy-isms coming your way, don't forget your umbrella...
- DiggLive, on 03/31/2008, -31/+64It won the hacking contest against Leopard.

- 6minuteabs, on 03/31/2008, -37/+64Considering how difficult it normally is to get a Mac installed in an enterprise environment, you gotta be a borderline fanboy to get it in the first place. Why should the office Mac user be any less drunk with love than a home Mac user?
- inactive, on 03/31/2008, -10/+33it's funny how mac users dismiss all the problems in osx. when osx gets hacked quicker than vista they're like meh.
- inactive, on 03/31/2008, -8/+31Vista lost because of an exploit in a third party application while OSX lost because of an exploit in Apple's own product Safari.
- gordonf238, on 03/31/2008, -14/+35Eh, don't act so surprised. Anyone who's used both systems can easily point out the one which yields least frustration.
- MrRad, on 03/31/2008, -6/+25My last office job was filled with half Macs and half PCs. There is no reason why Macs can't be used in a corporate setting alongside PCs, they can share files easily and both OS's can run most software you would find in an office. You don't need to be an obsessive fanboy to use a mac.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/31/2008, -8/+27have you heard of any (large) corporations migrating to Leopard? Hell that must be cheap and easy.
Despite Leopards merits, I think this article is FUD. - srg13, on 03/31/2008, -17/+34It's Microsoft that have the history of paying research firms to make misleading claims...
- daGUY, on 03/31/2008, -29/+46I work at a major corporation that is largely PC-based, though we do have a few Macs that are used for testing purposes. This is only one small anecdotal example, but I noticed that the Monday after Leopard came out, the Macs were already running it, while our PCs are all still running XP to this day...

- UltraMegaFilms, on 03/31/2008, -24/+40At the prices Apple charges for their hardware, this article would more appropriately called "Apple's Smug User Base Denies Buyer's Remorse". For 5 large, you better like it mother *****.
- rebotfc, on 03/31/2008, -4/+20Strange that the Air would be your first mac. I have usually considered it as a second unit due to its low power.
- DaffyDuck, on 03/31/2008, -5/+21It appears that several major news sources quote their research.

Google is your friend, by the way. - judsond, on 03/31/2008, -2/+18I do a lot, unfortunately. These tools I think in general are very powerful, but they do things people don't really want or need in most cases, and in such confusing ways no one uses their functionality. Google apps/docs does about 5% of what sharepoint can do, but that 5% is all people use sharepoint for, and google does it much better. Not to mention free alternatives like mediawiki... Depends on your needs of course, but I feel like there's nearly always a better alternative.
- GregR, on 03/31/2008, -19/+33Guess the hacker wanted to win the Mac laptop.
- inactive, on 03/31/2008, -4/+18I am easily seduced by shiny slim things..
- migitalwarfare, on 03/31/2008, -0/+14well, to put all this ***** to bed, Changewave is owned by Investorplace Media, LLC, which is owned by Avista Capital Partners, which is in no way affiliated with Apple Computers. That took all of 45 seconds to trace back to the parent company
- inactive, on 03/31/2008, -1/+15I'll take that bet. What do you want to bet?
- theWrkncacnter, on 03/31/2008, -9/+22or selling a superior product? no, of course not.

"Reply to this comment" - inactive, on 03/31/2008, -1/+13Wow. You are not gonna get hired as a manager by a big corporation any time soon. MS Dynamics are some pretty powerful set of tools that are almost essential these days.
- Chirp08, on 03/31/2008, -1/+13did you seriously just say the underlying code in OSX sucks?
- jeriqo, on 03/31/2008, -5/+17What kind of "enterprise environment" are you talking about?
I personnaly think a SMB network is easylier to configure under Mac OS X than Windows. - TastyLamp, on 03/31/2008, -5/+17I'd like to make it clear that this man in no way represents Apple users.
- j2002, on 03/31/2008, -10/+22Given that the only people who use macs are Apple or nothing people who would be satisfied in any event, this isn't that suprising.
- jeriqo, on 03/31/2008, -5/+17Source?
- ExSlashdotter, on 03/31/2008, -3/+14One of the reasons why we use Macs. Because as long as I'm using the current version of OSX, all my imaging is hardware agnostic.
Boot one machine into target disk mode (hold T), boot the other machine off that disk (hold option, choose the target to boot from). Just copy one drive to the other. - getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+11Unless your pc is a piece of trash already, you want Superfetch turned on, and Aero is a personal preference. It's best to leave Aero on if you have a gpu that will support it. People are misinformed into thinking the "eye candy" will slow your system down, but in reality the gpu is taking over all of the ui processing responsibility leaving the cpu freed up for other tasks.
- jack_of_knaves, on 03/31/2008, -3/+13So what corporate advertisement firm do you work for?
- jwkpiano1, on 03/31/2008, -1/+11Safari got hacked, you idiot.
- mannypdesign, on 03/31/2008, -7/+17Uh, no. Not really.
- wolfofwar, on 03/31/2008, -4/+13thats what she said
- alpha94, on 03/31/2008, -4/+13If you were responsible for the network you'd have a different perspective. It's kind of a big deal to change your domain over to a new domain controller running server 2008 64bit and then all the users onto vista 64 bit. A few mac's that probably aren't even on the domain that are there for testing are not of concern.
- inactive, on 03/31/2008, -4/+13Nope. Thats still goes to Windows XP.
- jeriqo, on 03/31/2008, -1/+10Life is inaccurate.
- BossKey, on 03/31/2008, -0/+9If you know anything about Ars Technica, you know their OS reviews are not about hype.
- Tanbo, on 03/31/2008, -4/+13I like OS X, I really do, but I am a heavy user of my current (PC) laptop so wear and tear of the machine is an important issue.
I'm not sure how effective AppleCare is, by the complaints I've read on here.
I've been using a Dell, and I have to admit I'm super impressed by how much they've improved their customer service. I've had issues with my laptop, but again I am a heavy, mobile user of the laptop. They've changed my screen when it zonked out. They changed my motherboard when I was having power connectivity issues. This was after about 2 years of ownership. Their reps were very friendly, and easy to reach and since I have onsite service, they would come wherever I happened to be at the moment and perform the repairs onsite (I'm never in one place).
It's really hard to find this type of service and if you are a heavy user, especially if you rely on it for work, it's crucially important.
I have no issues with AppleCare as I have not had the opportunity to try it, but I've read some non-flattering stuff on here.
In contrast, I was having trouble with my cable modem yesterday and I called Comcast. Talk about HORRIBLE service. But won't get into that here. - 4LeggedtriPod, on 03/31/2008, -9/+17All Mac owners are fanboys? Tell me you're not that stupid.
- vspazv, on 03/31/2008, -5/+13If you turn off User Account Control, the Superfetch service and the Aero interface Vista actually runs quite well. UAC is the cause of 90% of the issues people have with Vista when running or installing programs.
- TheSpook, on 03/31/2008, -2/+10...until operations asks IT to research third-party software for tracking misses in their plastic dish stamping press.
