- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -10/+152Too bad you bought a RAZR period.
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -5/+115Alex Albrecht is awesome. If it were not for him Kevin wouldn't have said so much. Thanks Alex.
- tbeseda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+59true story. i love that guy!
he is always pushing kevin to tell/drink more! - berfmurret, on 10/12/2007, -12/+68did you even watch the video *****? it will have 2 batteries. (supposedly)
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+52"nohh dont make a phone call dont say "fuuck""
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35So you mean by someone who lives in his parents basement?
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26All I know is if I was Verizon and I was approached by Steve Jobs who said "I'm making an iPhone and am going to start out with 12 million units. You can either agree to let me do it my way, working on all cell providers and working with my software, or you can f*ck off and I'll just go with your competition..." then I would sure as hell make sure that Verizon was a part of this deal, even if I had to compromise some of my usual standards.
- dan4prez, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31I didn't know it was coming out so soon. (January)
- googlyguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27I love how Kevin chugged a whole bunch of beer before talking about the iPhone. Thanks Alex for making Kevin say this stuff!
...although I'm guessing Apple isn't too happy about it. - Mark_DeRidder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22If Verizon doesn't support the iPhone, I am dropping them. Finally.
- Zatko, on 10/12/2007, -11/+32OS 10 sounds boring. OS EX sounds badass.
- jshabad00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I hope it is just one physical battery, with user controlled virtual batteries... I mean, what a pisser to have your phone go dead and still have a fully charged iPod attached... assuming apple won't let you physically exchange the batteries...
- jackmaninov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17So long as the phone can draw power off both batteries and the iPod can only draw off one then I'll be happy.
- moet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16You have to have been a fan for a while Gdoubleod.
They have gone through stages of trying to keep the show more professional.
But they decided to just be normal and keep the show fresh, different and a little more home made.
I find diggnation to be one of my favorite pieces of media available. But then again Iv been a fan for many years, and tend to really like the two characters that are on your computer screen every week. - hanapbuhay, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24OS X.
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Download the entire episode (video) here: http://videos.revision3.com/diggnation/0074/diggnation--0074--2006-11-30--large.h264.mov
- mdshoreboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14hmmm... I have a feeling this was "fake leak" that Apple setup to get free press. Come Monday this will be all over the blogosphere and by Tuesday, this will be all over the mainstream media. You just can't lose with free press. Then all apple has to do is update their website after the announcement at macworld and they didn't have to spend a dime.
Besides, Kevin Rose would have edited this segment out after they filmed it. It's not live ya know. - DatoeDakari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@ BassCadet
Umm, where are you right now, looks like Digg to me. - zeroed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12But lets not forget the example set by palm...
My Treo 650 runs Palm OS, not some verizon OS.
Agreeing with Jeffrey, Apple is a big enough player to say to verizon, "listen, this thing is going to be big. Either you're on, or gsm it is." Verizon is going to be stupid not to jump on. - panique, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Having the 3 different radio technologies does not make this work on all carriers. Verizon won't let you provision a phone that they don't have their software running on, and I'm guessing they're not going to let Apple sell iTunes on a Verizon-connected phone and drain all the revenue out of their "Get It Now" music service.
- seanmac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Summary: Rose has seen it, but not powered on, slide out keypad, touchscreen, two batteries. Support for all major carriers. Release in January. Maybe wide screen.
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13not really.
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The irony of the first section of the video with them mocking a story where the description is the same as the title.
Copy and paste FTW! - tbeseda, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16this may be a dupe, but i'll digg it for the specifity and brevity.
- gstuartj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Use Digg River or http://tinydigg.com
- SonofMaug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Hey flag, how do you know its a c rate phone if no one has seen it yet? And overpriced, can you say treo? IF it has half the functionality people say it will, it will still be a better deal than a treo @ $249-$449. Kiss off, trollboy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10BBBBBRRRRROOOOOO!!!!!!! Do us all a favor and go buy yourself an ipod or something. Instead of being a jealous prick and flaming the hell out of all the Apple articles, just go buy something Apple. Its that simple. Seriously, for all of us. You'd do the whole digg community a favor. You'll finally get your ipod and be cool like the rest of us. Cause we all know that you really want to be cool, but you can't for some reason so you take it out on all of us.....or you're a Microsoft Evangelist.
Either that or kill your Apple feed, please. - Rhine23, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13It's so they can move all their units this Christmas, and the stick it to everyone announcing it as soon as the 14 day return period is over on the ipods :)
- nbeighley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11come monday...i think somebody at apple is going to get fired. kevin might want to re-consider the 'drinking while reporting' thing!
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10We're sure he was sober? I don't know whether to give this any credibility at all.
I'll never fully understand the appeal of Diggnation. I stopped listening to the podcast after that horrible Las Vegas show where they blathered on in a state of drunken incoherence for about an hour. Sorry, but I'm interested in some informative and informed tech discussion, not a frat party.
Yeah, yeah, I know all you Kevin fans will bury my comment, but I don't care. I had enough of this site owner worship at Fark which is what drove me away from that site. But go ahead and worship. You might get to stand first in line at Kevin's dollar-a-kiss booth at the next live show. - googlyguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@thefutureisours:
It would definitely be nice to have that function built into some popular phones, although there's already a mobile version of the Digg site, so you should stick with that. - timusca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Is this slide-out keyboard QWERTY? If not, I don't care if its slide-out... doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I'm hoping for QWERTY and buttons not so small that my huge fingers don't push 3 at a time.
- iZealot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If the dark tipper is right he better watch out for Steve's Apple Ninjas!
- danr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6perhaps a combination stylus/dialing wand?
- cliefan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9ah, the beauty of gsm...
- jonknee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Not to mention you only need to support 2 technologies... GSM and CDMA. Cingular and T-Mobile are GSM and Verizon/Sprint/Alltel are all on CDMA. Apple could sell an unlocked GSM phone no problem but CDMA carriers have a lot more control and can ban phones from their network. Kevin didn't seem to really know anything at all, he sure doesn't know about phones. So I'd take it all with a grain of salt.
- GregR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7don't buy it then - all the more for the rest of us.
- ElBob, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14@HateStation: Nice assumption there chief. What about those of us who have been using macs all our lives and call it OS X. Or the people who run Macworld and call it OS X. Its a personal choice, and if you have a problem with me saying OS X you need to get a life.
- elfuego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think Apple can breathe easy... he didn't say THAT much, and what he did say was just enough to make me hold off on getting the Treo 700p I've been eyeing... if it's got a full keyboard, it might have the web/email functionality I need and if it can play video to boot... well, this might become a must buy. Especially since it looks so good.
- hackajar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8You can say all the rumors you want and not get in trouble, nor release your sources name:
http://www.eff.org/news/archives/2006_05.php#004698
So what's the details Kevin! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ya this isn't exactly new, analysts have been saying since mid october that there are two phones, a slim ipod like music phone, small version and a larger smartphone with a keyboard like input device. So I'm definately more inclined to call this a bluff for publicity either on Kevn Roses' part or Apple's. This info has already been pseudo released.
- hanapbuhay, on 10/12/2007, -12/+16FUMA
- ElBob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Good theory, but what about that whole middle ground where YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Kevin didn't want to screw his friend over, since that would be kind of a dick move.
- meanreal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Just PR and fully approved by Steve ...
- notorious., on 10/12/2007, -14/+15It doesnt' matter if it "sounds better." OS EX is wrong. It's pronounced Mac OS Ten.
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=mac+os+x+pronounced&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
The least you can do is pronounce the product name correctly. - WolfwoodX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That comment is all the proof you need that ddn3d is a ***** moron who isn't aware that not everyone gets a throbbing hard on as much as he does when it comes to mobile communication network technology.
- AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So basically it's an HTC phone with extra flash memory for music.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was going to block this flag564 guy the other day, but I enjoy a little laugh now and then, idiots give the world color.
Click here to hear the iPhone start up >>>: http://www.whitwell.ndo.co.uk/musicthing/sounds/macstartup.mp3 - snax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's great that we have this info now, but I felt awkward watching him reveal it. I don't think he should have blurted it out - I feel sorry for his source.
- gaqua, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Could he have been any more vague? "They're going to be doing some very unique things. Like, if you think of Apple doing something and you're like 'Would they do it that way?' They're going to do it that way."
Thanks Kev! Sure clears some things up for us. -
