- Neolite, on 10/20/2008, -3/+78Sweet! Live video streaming over 3G, then the battery dies 20 minutes later.
- divinediva, on 10/20/2008, -3/+58Looks exactly like the jail broken version .
- seans9, on 10/20/2008, -1/+51I hope apple actually approves this app
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -8/+44Kevin Rose and the iPhone, the only thing that could make this more attractive to Diggers is if it featured Kevin Rose having a threesome with two Playboy bunnies and Steve Jobs films it on his iPhone while he's reading a cracked.com Top 10 list of the Biggest Boobs in History.
- MalDON, on 10/20/2008, -2/+31Why wouldn't apple accept it? You don't give people internet access and then complain when people use it. ATT just needs to take the dick form their ass.
- jako91, on 10/20/2008, -4/+32looks awesome.
good to see stuff from jail broken apps going official - bradleyjx, on 10/20/2008, -1/+21...as portrayed by an XKCD comic inside a Zero Punctuation review.
- clesch, on 10/20/2008, -1/+16i accidentally the whole Kevin Rose
- elie195, on 10/20/2008, -0/+15I agree, well stated. I think AT&T should let us use our "unlimited" plan, or not charge us the ridiculous $30/month.
Hey, the phone has WiFi, which is what I use most of the time anyway. Why don't they let us use that "unlimited" bandwidth that we're paying so much for? Does AT&T restrict how much bandwidth you use on their DSL plans? No. (not yet at least).
We should be able to tether. We should be able to use VoIP (not just over WiFi). And we definitely should be able to stream video if we want. Stop charging us ridiculous fees for "unlimited" bandwidth if its so ***** limited to not let us do anything useful with it. - clesch, on 10/20/2008, -1/+14And why would Apple allow this (as the first video recorder, not to speak of AT&T being worried about the bandwidth usage) in their store?
- michaelpinto, on 10/20/2008, -3/+14Wish it worked with older Edge iPhones - but still looks very cool...
- Diganta, on 10/20/2008, -0/+11But can it record video locally and compress it real-time h.263 or MPEG-4 part 2?
- nunofgs, on 10/20/2008, -1/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1CPKhAxPyU

- jun2san, on 10/20/2008, -2/+11= instant head 'asplosion.
- subtle, on 10/20/2008, -5/+12Yeah, what's next? Kevin Rose takes a dump?
- kragil, on 10/20/2008, -1/+7I thought accessing the camera wasn't permitted??? Isn't that why there are no Video-apps??
- joerod, on 10/20/2008, -1/+7i wish they would have this for youtube or facebook. i wish they would also have an official video camera for iphone too, come on its been proven that it can be done what are they waiting for?
- zephc, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6Oh, that's cool, but I was hoping it was http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4g5AS3Y7AtA he was going to talk about.
- huggybarrel, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6thats what people said when webcams first hit the scene..
what do you care what people do? just don't watch them - Elranzer, on 10/20/2008, -2/+8That'll never happen. That would involve Kevin Rose having a threesome with females.
- Juaquin, on 10/20/2008, -1/+7I like the newb commenting on the stream towards the end - "what the f am i doing wrong"
Live broadcast fail - bmxposer, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5http://qik.com/blog/247/qik-on-app-store--clarific ...
"I want to clarify the questions that are being raised about Qik coming to iPhone App Store. We are looking into this, but at present are not sure when and how this will happen."
They haven't figured out how they are going to get into the App Store yet... It's my understanding Qik is using "features" that aren't available/not permitted in the SDK. Video recording for one is completely absent in the iPhone. Maybe with the release of the new Nokia 5800 including Qik, Apple will hopefully jump on board with video and live streaming. - sangosimo, on 10/20/2008, -1/+6it does work with older edge phones. You can still get it on cydia if you have a jail broken phone.
- IsaacCubed, on 10/20/2008, -2/+7Well if he said it, it must be true.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5while slamming protons together.
- Otto, on 10/20/2008, -4/+8Wow, live video over a slow overloaded digital network... What can possibly go wrong?
- Dystisis, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5The only thing that could make this more attractive to Diggers is if it featured Kevin Rose having a threesome with two Playboy bunnies and Steve Jobs films it on his iPhone while he's reading a cracked.com Top 10 list of the Biggest Boobs in History, as portrayed by an XKCD comic inside a Zero Punctuation review. This review would have to be discussed in a hilarious episode of Jon Stewart while Obama and Ron Paul were guests and made out.
- Otto, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4Again, what can possibly go wrong?
The app don't scale, is my point. Wait until lots of people are doing it and watch the network go straight to *****. It was not built to handle this sort of data traffic. And they ain't going to expand it any time soon, because it's easier to simply block these sorts of apps and dump heavy traffic users rather than lay down tons of bandwidth.
Look at what Comcast is doing already.. you think telco's won't follow along? - huggybarrel, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4no, you make a website that makes you millions, and you sorta do whatever you want.
- uknowwhoibe, on 10/20/2008, -2/+5Get over yourself. It's just cool, new technology. It's technology that's moving in the right direction. Don't be so luditious.
- Speed, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3keyword: official
- coder_cotton, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3yes.
- mindsnare, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4Lighten up douché. Go out front and tell the kids to get off your lawn. What the hell do you care how or why people want to do it?
- Blizaine, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4http://qik.com
for Kevin's videos go to: http://qik.com/kevin - Speed, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3pyrates: what dininediva and CalinSchue said was that it is exactly like the jailbroken version, not that it is the jailbroken version.
- shuffle, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3You obviously haven't seen a live diggnation. Say what you will about the show and Kevin himself, but I don't think his popularity is waning...
- nickarodriguez, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3yah I use the app all the time on my EDGE iPhone, there is a really long buffering process if you take a long video. But it works over EDGE.
- makkaveli19, on 10/21/2008, -0/+3hey, well paying $30 for a gig of data is ***** retarded. ***** you rogers.
- GregFD3S, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Light Saber.
...And for an awesome app. - Chewie67, on 10/20/2008, -2/+5This isn't conceptual. Qik is already doing it, and has been for some time now. The iPhone app hasn't gotten wide release (since it needs a Jailbroken phone), but the Nokia version -- using the same network -- has been running for at least 6 months.
- dullnation, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3You can do a closed beta via the app store for a limited number of users, so he's probably part of that.
- postitnote, on 10/21/2008, -0/+3You are limited to downloading apps from the app store that are more than 10 MBs only when you are on WiFi. It doesn't mean that the applications can only use 10 MB of bandwidth...
- yabos, on 10/20/2008, -4/+7One thing that is bugging me about the iPhone is the 10MB limit for downloading apps or updates over the cellular network. These types of applications use so much more bandwidth I don't understand why they still limit you to
- paranoiabacon, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3But will it blend?
- dn11, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4signs point to yes
- cuco, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2And Sarah Palin delivers a speech while one of many bittorrent sites gets shut down by the RIAA
- Chewie67, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2No, you can't because....
....yes, it is saved to Flash video on the www.qik.com web site. - uknowwhoibe, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Will it work on the original iPhone if you're connected to WiFi?
