- Archon810, on 10/12/2007, -7/+126I thought Apple released Mac OS X a long time ago... guess I am wrong.
- Sagags, on 10/12/2007, -23/+111Am I the only person that has no idea what Joost is?
- Tobbz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Just a FYI to the mac users.
The client only works on Intel Macs, no support for PPC (yet)
I copied the release notes from the site, and here they are:

Joost beta for Mac Intel is here! posted by: Daniel Salber.
Mac Intel users, rejoice! Joost for Mac Intel is now available in beta version. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. With the help of a handful of great people, we were able to leverage both the tremendous work done by the Client team for the Windows version as well as the cross-platform power of Mozilla. As a result, we have a Mac version that looks very much like Joost for Windows, while behaving very much like a Mac application.
Many thanks to our courageous alpha-testers who provided useful feedback and helped us squash the last few serious bugs. Still, let me remind you: it's a beta. There are a few bugs left (read the release notes). And please report any new bugs you find. We'll send t-shirts to the submitters of the best bug reports!

More:
Starting with this release, we also have a Mac OS X version available. The following issues are known in this first beta release:
Joost can be slow to start up, and may flicker in the Dock during startup
In some circumstances, you may see two copies of Joost in your Dock. (To be precise, if you put Joost in your Dock from the Finder, you will see two copies when Joost is running. The alternative is to use "Stay in Dock" to put Joost in your Dock.)
Some text is not correctly spaced and difficult to read (e.g., the "Coming up next" display)
When Joost is in window mode, the text of the user interface may be barely readable depending on window size – you may want to resize the window
The shortcuts described below are not completely working yet – try using the Windows shortcut if the Mac shortcut does not work
Other than the required differences on OSX the Mac OSX version of Joost is functionally identical to the Windows version and it is our aim to keep them matching each other in functionality at each release step. - Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -17/+35@sagas
Try here - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f7/Joost_03-blog_OTF_MyJ.jpg - and here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joost . That's the wonderful thing about the interweb - you can search for things instead of just asking! - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It is funny how the "invite only" concept make people crazy to get in.
Seriously, if Joost were a free for all app, most people here would have used it for 1 hour max and moved on, I mean, don't you guys have a TV with much better picture quality and a gazillion channels in it already? - MadMan459, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@ Ireland - All you did was apply to be a beta tester, they have yet to actually activate your account and "let you in." It could take time, especially if they got flooded with applications after making the front page of Digg.
@ psychometry - Why do you have to be such a douchebag? - jhonizzle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21i think everyone that is asking for an invite should get signed up for shemale porn site's
- Wandel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15People don't like beggars.
- illegal_op, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18Welcome to 7 years ago...
- ElegantFiend, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16How good is the picture quality?
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12You know there's a beta for Windows already, right?
- Matix947, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12"What is Joost™?
Joost™ is a new way of watching TV on the internet, which uses new and established technologies to provide the best of both the internet and TV worlds. We're in the process of making it as TV-like as we can, with programmes, channels and adverts. You can also see some things that we think will enhance the TV experience: searching for programmes and channels, for example, as well as social features like chat. There are many more new features to come!" - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Not much different from the standard .avi stuff you download on the net.
- penneyisok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Both of you are not even close

There are no positive digged comments and theres currently 678. Not only that but this story 146 days old and all comments are still being dugg down. This was the first digg-down-athon (or w/e you wanna call it) - Jjcd7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Woohoo, they kept the adverts.
I did ask for an invite, but I read below, and I don't want any shemale porn. - mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@Ireland:
I applied a month ago. Doesn't mean they have to accept me as a beta user. Not all betas are public and open. Relax. - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6There's no point downloading the client if you don't have a valid login and password to use it.
- camkerr, on 10/12/2007, -12/+15I just picked up my iMac, and sold my windows machine. I'm happy now cause I was seriously considering installing bootcamp just so i could use my Joost again, now i dont have to. =D
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@extremer
Not even close. For a true digg-down fest, see here: http://www.digg.com/playable_web_games/Chaos_Theory_Very_simple_very_addictive - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"@ Ireland - All you did was apply to be a beta tester, they have yet to actually activate your account and "let you in." I applied 10 days ago when I say it, if it went OS X they should have contacted me. I'm sick of trying at this stage, they can go shove it now. - aswitcher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No joy here - looks like 250 went quick for the Mac.
- samsara1981, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they want me as a tester, they can make it an open beta. If you expect people to work for you for free, at least don't make them jump through hoops first.
- CelebManX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Joost (pronounced ‘juiced’) is an interactive software for distributing TV shows and other forms of video over the Web using peer-to-peer tv technology, created by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis (founders of Skype and Kazaa).
http://logreview.info/?p=3 - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -19/+19Here's the download link: http://downloads.joost.com/downloads/Joost-0.8.0.dmg
Remember, you have to be signed in for it to work. - bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4anyone gonna upload the dmg/installer so we don't need invites?
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1thats just a nine inch nails song
waste of time
anyone mirrored the real dmg/installer? - blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10Hi, I am looking for a shemale pornsite, any links?
(Secretly hoping to get an invite to Joost instead) - deanau, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2No its not - Hes LIEING!
- jonr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Joost is different, I've been beta tester for some time now. The UI and design is more geared towards TV screen rather than computer screen. It is still somewhat rough, there are bugs in the sound/video streams, but it definetly has potential.
- ocha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Joost seems really interesting and I cant wait to get a chance to try it.
Which is interesting because there are so many YouTube/video broadband competitors and companies now. I really want to see how Joost differentiates for the others. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5You are a disgrase to private trackers, inviting people you do not know anything about.
- frankietears, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wow, that site is ugly.
Blocklist-a-go-go - rubah, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4@mejogid
sometimes people like to have *people* explain things to them, rather than go to a dictionary site, especialy when it's something that might benefit from a personal endorsement on the explanation.
telling people to look it up on wikipedia is just being a prick, can't you be polite enough to give two lines, rather than paste two lines of link?
it's just a little pet peeve of mine, I guess. - sephiroth4, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Yes, I have hd over air, dishHD, and bittorrent, but I still want joost to test for myself. I don't care what Google says, what you say, or what reviewers say, I still want to try JOOST for myself. S4!+ like this article and all the digg downs for trying to get a hook up makes me want to stop using this cheesy fanclub bookmark site. Stop being so petty and trying to put the next man down for trying to get ahead. Share and spread the love and stop actin' like a politician.
- brianwyrick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I have posted a couple of review posts.
http://digg.com/apple/Joost_review_on_Intel_Mac_Mini - Pingspike, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Intel is easier to write for, tho apple did do serious stuffs to make it easier to make universal binaries etc. Dunno why this isnt universal tbh. Sucks cos i have a ppc mac and cant try it. not reading any gumf on the website i just downloaded it (btw its frikkin Hyooj!) and tried to run it. *bling* you do not have an intel mac blah blah.
Arse. - Cougarcat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Why is this Intel only? Are they planning a PPC version?
- jnaeff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm interested in a invited. Who can help me... PLEASE
jnaeff(a)naeff.biz - sephiroth4, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1digg
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1invite for nixfu.nixfu at good ole gmail please...thx
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Sweet, now I don't have to boot Windows just to watch Cosmo Warrior Zero anymore :D
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5I await the Linux version...Well, I guess I await the time when I'm accepted to the beta first :P
- zachws, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1No PPC support? GTFOH. It's called tvrss.net. Warning though: just got a nice e-mail from HBO. People, find your private trackers, enable encryption in your torrent client (if it doesn't support it, DELETE), throw in safepeer for added psychological support and ta-da!. Otherwise it's a slippery slope...
- spinesplitter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0this reminds me of the nintendo revolution
why change a cool sounding name for a "stoopid" one - andrewd2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I got in on this early, and quickly realized it was Windows only. Now the Mac beta is open I was able to score the Joost.dmg for mac, and it is Intel Mac only...grrrrrr. So running this .dmg on my ibook is futile. I am waiting patiently for a PPC release so I can actually use my beta tester account.
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1if someone does upload it, let us have your username and password
- billizm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"...and posting 'Me Toos' like some brain-deal AOLer"
- Weird Al - poetic_folly, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Hey if anyone has an invite to it... email me! Check themotoguide.com for my email address. :D
- Techchef, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4You would think the "DIGG Family" would help one of there own to get a Invite...Instead of being so negative about it...Com'on help a brother out....
Exec.chef@gmail.com - Takuro, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I'm not about to beg for Joost, but they do seem ridiculously stingy. I signed up for their alpha program months ago and I haven't heard from then since. Now that my e-mail is already in their database, I can't sign up for the beta program. Great.
I can't believe that out of the people who did manage to get the beta or alpha that nobody leaked it so far. It's almost enough to wonder if the program even exists in the first place or if it's some marketing scheme. I don't know a single person who was actually accepted as a tester.
Conspiracy. Blah. :P -
