- KMartSheriff, on 04/12/2008, -4/+26Hi, John Mayer here. Yeah, sure, I'll digg it up.
- daRoach, on 04/12/2008, -8/+25Do Mac users have do do a lot of bug reporting?
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -3/+19OK, that's it. I'm starting every single bug report with that phrase from now on.
- ShempRider, on 04/12/2008, -0/+16THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.
- renatoc8, on 04/12/2008, -1/+14I dugg you down and it went down to -4, seems you've met your nemesis.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -3/+15that shouldn't be funny, butt it is.
- catachip, on 04/12/2008, -0/+11If your MacBook crashed a 1000 times (although I don't believe for a second it has), then you need to get it taken in for repair. Because obviously there is a major hardware defect. Either that, or you have a major defect.
- humanerror, on 04/12/2008, -0/+11YOU ARE THE LAST ONE
- Smills, on 04/12/2008, -0/+11Now I don't know what to do!
- SSUK, on 04/12/2008, -3/+13In before *****
- TheKrillr, on 04/12/2008, -5/+14Every use should have to do a lot of bug reporting. Sadly on most systems when something crashes there's no dialog to submit a good bug report, and nobody knows how to use them.
Let's face it, all software has bugs and all software WILL crash at some point. Modern software is simply too complex to NOT crash. It's just a matter of when, how, and what caused it. - thedinomeister, on 04/12/2008, -1/+924 hours says your 20 bucks will get old.... in the butt.
- jgerry, on 04/12/2008, -1/+9You shouldn't have to use a celebrity's name just to get good service.
- Rizzler, on 04/12/2008, -1/+8I'm trying this too. Only, I'm going to try this with Microsoft. Oh, and I'll probably say I'm someone else. Bono maybe? Well, I've seen him on iPods. Who isn't controlled by apple?
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+7Hi, I'm Steve Jobs. Fix this, or you're fired.
- jetboyterp, on 04/12/2008, -4/+11You're not my John Mayer, buddy!
- evfinkelstein, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7I'm surprised this wasn't a rick roll.
- polyGone, on 04/12/2008, -2/+8That is actually my name. To make it even weirder, I use a Mac. Odd......
- Sabazou, on 04/12/2008, -2/+7And jokes are supposed to be funny
- xtraa, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5I don't want to know what 'Steve Ballmer here' would do to my mail.
- omaryak, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4It couldn't be that he included an e-mail address, could it? Going out on a limb here...
- pigducksheep, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4There is if you happen to be John Mayer, which is a lot of people apparently.
- leahpee, on 04/13/2008, -0/+4Hi Apple. I'm better than John Mayer. Do you want my autograph?
- gtluke, on 04/12/2008, -10/+14apple commercials told me that mac products don't have errors, whats going on here?
- mal1964, on 04/12/2008, -2/+6This is good!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns0tW4c95aM - Rikkochet, on 04/12/2008, -2/+6This isn't an automated crash report - someone is going out of their way and create a trouble ticket. That's way, way, way too much work for any paying user. Make it work or adjust your dev process until you can. There's no excuse for software to completely crap out.
- A developer that doesn't make excuses - roarus, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5"I'm ***** Ben Affleck"
- TheGooseyOne, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3That's enough, John Mayer.
- TheKrillr, on 04/12/2008, -3/+6It's called a joke. You're supposed to laugh and shrug it off, not take it personally and seriously.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Great...so much for having Apple Support all to my lonesome.
- Atomic1fire, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3how bout somebody use the name for every company
see what happens - wkcrazyhorse, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3You is a ***** grammer!
- mal1964, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3Eric Roll?
- TaylorTAP, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4LOL, everybody is gun shy over youtube links now. No, thanks to RickRoll & 4chan. It was 4chan that started this crap wasn't it?
- jessestay, on 01/21/2009, -3/+5Hey, John Mayer here. I see a new fad to replace Rick Roll'ing...
- FIoR1Da, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2Hi, Peppy Hare here. My MacBook is doing a barrel roll!
- ronfez, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Did anyone tell you this is John Mayer calling?
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3If you've written a detailed enough account of the situation, there isn't any need for a follow-up. And as someone else pointed out, the only way Apple would know how to contact you is if you specifically gave them contact info in the bug report. I'll bet most people just hit "Report" or "Ignore" and restart the app.
- djholybolt, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I Loll'd my pants reading that one
- philippantoni, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I personally think that Microsoft is a pretty ***** product too.
- PueSi, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah as somebody else mentioned, maybe the RAM crapped out, that's one of the main reasons you get BSoDs (or Kernel Panic messages).
- anonm, on 04/12/2008, -5/+7once everyone starts doing this, Apple will fix it to another phrase. Bury it to keep the secret secret! (Oh wait nvm if gizmodo has it, the secret is lost...)
- DNABeast, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Nah, You're thinking of Ben Lee. John Mayer's totally personable.
- Pimpalicious316, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1I actually did this on a mozilla crash. i didn't get any reply from the bug fixer people, but it may have provided a good laugh for them.
http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/1bacc1 ... - TheKrillr, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3It was, if only slightly.
- TheKrillr, on 04/12/2008, -3/+4*A developer that's in denial about bugs
Most popular software is used on such a variety of systems in such a variety of circumstances that every bug cannot possibly be accounted for and tested for. If you really think that you can, you're in some pretty bad denial. Yes, there are coding and testing practices to minimize the number of unforeseen bugs, but there will ALWAYS be bugs which you cannot test for.
Anyone who uses software and encounters a bug SHOULD go out of their way to make sure the creator knows about it. Whether you've paid for the product or not. Even more so if you've paid for it really, because you're paying for someone to fix them.
Also on a majority of systems there are lots of reasons for software to "completely crap out." Incompatible/broken libraries that are not under the control of the software creator, incompatible hardware when it comes to apps which access graphics cards and the like, compiler options that may create instabilities with newer processors. -
