- scootscr15, on 02/16/2008, -1/+55well, lets take a quick inventory. There's 1, then 2, next is 3, and low and behold there's 4 right there before the number 5.
- yhan, on 02/16/2008, -2/+31I have two wishes:
1. That apple doen't fix prices for applications, so individual devs can charge what they want (in. ex: a bunch of free good quality apps)
2. That apple doen't deny apps into the iTunes store just because they don't like them (ex: Skype for iPhone, alternative browsers,..) - phoomp, on 02/16/2008, -3/+293. That Apple doesn't require apps to be installed through iTunes and has a solution similar to Installer.app
- seaners, on 02/16/2008, -1/+13i think that was a royalty to skyhook wireless for the locate me feature, but iPhone customers didn't need to pay it because some of their contract goes to apple anyway
- Gm7Cadd9, on 02/16/2008, -0/+8 Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.
- techresearcher, on 02/16/2008, -2/+9Is Jailbreak 1.1.4 imminent?
- LumpOfCole, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6Ever since Macworld we've known the SDK is launching at the end of February, and that's two more weeks away. Putting 2 and 2 together, that probably means 1.1.4 at the end of February.
- locojones, on 02/17/2008, -1/+6Oh my god, you mean 1.1.4 is going to follow 1.1.3? What next? 1.1.5? Get the ***** out!
- automate, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6Apple is doing nothing of the sort. Its the excited fans who are herarlding each update with such fanfare. It sucks that Nokia fans do not get this excited, but then that is their problem.
- mmgrinberg, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6The site http://tiny-code.com/ now redirects to http://developer.apple.com/iphone/devcenter/
- NaziHatinChimp, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Gee I hope so. After my iPhone got ***** up I have been scared to jailbreak it. They said that the SDK should be out near the end of Feb., and that is still what I am hoping for. Anyone know if the Super Nintendo Emulator works good on the iPhone because I sure would like some games on the go (ie. Earthbound, Mario RPG).
- max1018, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6Nah, this is probably quite real, I mean it makes sense for them to be working on the SDK with Apple. What would they gain from lying about it anyway? well maybe the attention. Only thing I might think is stragne is that a big release such as this should be named 1.2, rather than 1.1.4.
- DaMacGamer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4That would be nice, but will never happen. Apple is going to want as much control over this as they can have.
- node3, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4Another? There has never been a paid upgrade for the iPhone firmware.
- dizilbdog, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Yeah I know I just hate how it's like a wait and wait, and how it's been somewhat closed. It's just annoying how we have to just sit and wait for Mr. Jobs to release another update. Where as with Palm Nokia Sony Ericcson, you can just do what you want.
- bjornski, on 02/16/2008, -8/+10EVERYTHING Apple does is done with great fanfare.
"Oh look! Steve is wearing a different shade of black turtleneck today! HOO-RAH! He farted! New at MacExpo 2009, 'au de Steve'!" - MikeMayer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't 2.0 imply a major revision-such as a firmware targeted for a new hardware revision? Perhaps not available for the current iPhone... but maybe so..
- LeonardNimrod, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3Apple releases more updates for that other OEM. What you hate is all rumours that fly around more weeks and months before the updates. If you don't like it then you may not want to read articles relating to Apple.
- fluidfoundation, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Percolations are imminent! Cease your ingress!
- johnpaul191, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3Then stop reading Apple news+rumor sites (and maybe Digg?) and stick to Apple.com for facts. They do many things surprisingly low key.
- MikeMayer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I was suprised how well it worked... But... No Sound and Graphical Problems.
But hey-- Its like playing with SNES emulators the likes of ~1998 or so :)
RPGs are probably worth playing! (not fast enough for fast games) - Ploosheeta, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Is the progression of time imminent?
- ThomasPalmer, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1SDK one week away!!!
- jasarien, on 02/21/2008, -1/+2And this has never happened with ANY other company ever? Get over it.
- jasarien, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1If Nokia customers were as pleased with their phones as Apple customers are with theirs, then maybe there would be a NokiaExpo. As it stands, there isn't because there'd be no demand for one. It'd be a relatively empty event compared to an Apple Expo.
- LeonardNimrod, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I expect 1.1.4 to be a tame update from the user's POV as there won't be anything superfical for them to see. It will merely allow, along with an iTunes update, the ability to purchase and load applications from the iTS.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Pic of Tiny code: http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachment ...
- drifter, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Yes, it works great, some games still have bugs and crash but its still cool. http://youtube.com/iphoneblab I have a video showing how to install it.
- starphish, on 02/16/2008, -1/+2Software doesn't generally go up in full increments for minor updates, which is what the updates have been.
- jasarien, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1You didn't have to pay for the 1.1.3 firmware update (ie. the "wiggly" icons as you put it). You payed for the privilege of having the applications that were previously only (officially) available to iPhone owners.
- automate, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1What benefit do you expect from 2.0? Just for the name?
- funsutton, on 02/16/2008, -10/+11I remember when someone said 1.1.3 would come with copy/paste.
I am sure this is about as accurate. - DaMacGamer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Wasn't there a report that apple was having some sort of even near the end of February? Everyone is assuming it's the SDK (and hopping they will announce a 3G iPhone at the same time).

iphone 3g Jailbreak Apps | Unlock your iPhone 2.0.1 v2 Firmware
http://www.24timepass.com/technologies-stuff/unloc ... - phinn, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1For a 2.0 we would have to except something revolutionary. Not even talking 3G... Something even bigger, like... Copy/paste support, or I daresay MMS!
- ivan15, on 02/24/2008, -0/+1is this FAKE STEVE resurrected
- sakuraz, on 02/17/2008, -1/+2"lo and behold"
- lupinglade, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1surely its going to be 1.2...
- phelim, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=49801 ... the guy from tiny code just said a lot about 1.1.4
- mattottam, on 09/29/2009, -0/+1From that link..
"I never denied I was the guy who ran Tiny-Code.
I just never came out and said it, why draw any more attention than has already unfolded?
I had no intention of causing wakes, but since my repo has let's clarify things.
One: Yes, I have a copy of the Apple SDK for the iPhone targeting firmware 1.1.4.
Two: Yes, Tiny-Code.com was ordered to be removed from operation by Apple, Inc because by releasing firmware versions and stating I had possession of the firmware and SDK was apparently a violation of the Non-Disclosure Agreement I agreed to when I accepted a copy of the SDK and firmware.
Three: Yes I was wrist-slapped by Apple and won't be included in any further firmware beta's or testing/coding.
And finally, Four: No I cannot disclose any more about anything without getting into more trouble, stating the above is ok because well let's face it, there is documented proof I already have and Apple already backhanded me for it.
I don't have a date for when the SDK should be available, even if I did, I couldn't say more than I have.
Sorry for the confusion and sorry I can't update my repo anymore, at least not until the new firmware is out.
PS: The link to apple dev center, that is just to stop the "where did it go" questions. Apple didn't ask me to, I just did.
Regards,
Kelly" - brad016, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1lol, I lov it
- viruz, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Is iPhone firmware 1.1.5 or 1.1.6 imminent? I think so .. I'll even bet on 1.1.7 is going to happen as well.
- ThankTheCheese, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1I hope 1.1.4 isn't required to use third party apps. I recall an article earlier that said 1.1.3 was third-party app ready, which makes me wonder if Apple will release a 1.1.4 on the relase of 3rd party apps just to make it harder for people with unlocked 1.1.3 phones to take advantage of the new features.
- max1018, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1Considering me and a friend were the ones to find out and pass on to Macenstein, i would call that pretty reliable. I'm afraid the best you can get of Tiny Code is mirrors and screenshots now as they have gone down.
- EH90, on 02/22/2008, -0/+0http://macenstein.com/default/archives/1148 It was fake
- sholt, on 02/19/2008, -1/+1What about a key managing client on the device removes control from Apple?
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -3/+3hey apple! hurry the frak up!!!
- Chiphort, on 02/18/2008, -1/+1not me buddy,
it went from 1.0 to 1.0.1 to 1.0.2
then from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 to. 1.1.3/ now I think
that it will go 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 to 1.2.3.
we will see
no - kodek, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1If it was a royalty to Skyhook, then why did they make the rest of the features part of the $20 upgrade? Why did we have to pay for the lyrics, the wiggly icons, weather, stocks, etc..?
- Four20, on 02/16/2008, -4/+4mine now
