Why are you asking us?.. you should've have read the story before submitting. - quomen, on 07/23/2008, -10/+50Ok, am I really seeing this article? Why don't we ask how his dog is doing too. Hey Steve Jobs, is your dog doing fine?
- diggB, on 07/23/2008, -1/+39His dog had a ruff day ...
- NerveBand, on 07/23/2008, -7/+40Stockholders who might think Apple will lose direction if Steve Jobs is not heading the company at his full capacity.
- dnields, on 07/23/2008, -26/+57Who really gives a *****?
- Kyan, on 07/23/2008, -12/+41Hopefully, you will die and stop making stupid comments.
- Palaceguard, on 07/23/2008, -4/+30***** cancer is not a ***** joke, no matter who has it.
- ferrell, on 07/23/2008, -8/+31"Hopefully, he dies"???
WTF?
What kind of ***** says something like that??
Dugg down and blocked! - thailand1972, on 07/23/2008, -0/+20It's just a hunch, but I predict Steve Jobs will die one day.
- Firehed, on 07/23/2008, -4/+21He's a vegan. What else would you expect him to look like?
- grantmc1, on 07/23/2008, -1/+16ROFLMAO 10/10 for creativity on the second one!
- bicycleman, on 07/23/2008, -20/+35He is a buddist, which believes in dieing to yourself so that all your problems go away. I think we are seeing the advance stage of advanced buddism.
OR
He could just be following his marketing teams instructions to become as thin as the Mac Book Air for the next commercial. - Hess10, on 07/23/2008, -1/+16the stock's gone all the way back up
- ladbroke, on 07/23/2008, -0/+13If wall street wasn't so busy playing games with the stock, no one would give a damn about this. It bothers me that ever since Apple's resurgence, people have been expecting to play by Wall Street's rules, e.g. putting out product timelines, becoming a more open company, because stock values are all about taking information into account.
Apple has never played by those rules. Why the hell would you expect it to now? The people that invest in Apple aren't looking to invest in a company with a future, they're looking for the next bubble to ride, and that's why it can lose 10% of its value in a day over ***** like this. - bubut, on 07/23/2008, -1/+14I see Steve as more of a cat person.
- ExSlashdotter, on 07/23/2008, -2/+14The reason you're seeing this article is because steve jobs IS apple. He's unique in the industry, and investors are afraid that his successor won't have the same....whatever-it-is about them thats made apple what it is.
When steve goes, watch the stock price drop like a rock.
(and i'm an apple semi-fanboy) - cthielen, on 07/23/2008, -2/+14This is fodder. The issue came up because of a misunderstanding from an AP reporter sitting in on a financial call: Jobs was absent from the call, as he is not involved and never participates in these types of calls, and an investor inquired about his health, as it has been over a month since Jobs was last seen. Apple's response that Jobs' health is a private matter is the same line they've been using for years.
In short, there is no news about his health, and it merely came up again because an AP reporter mistook a regular conversation to be a piece of news due to heightened interest in the subject over the last week or two. - thehemi, on 07/23/2008, -2/+14He's the main driving factor behind Apple's success.
If he were to abandon ship, Apple could go downhill. - AlexanderBlue, on 07/23/2008, -2/+12Funny, but very dark.
- VandyB, on 07/23/2008, -1/+11YES.
(someone else post no and let digg decide.) - vhold, on 07/23/2008, -0/+9Billions of dollars ride on his health.
When you head a publicly traded company, you have an obligation to your shareholders to be forthcoming about anything that you know that could have a large effect on the stock price. If you don't like that, then you shouldn't head a publicly traded company. - shutaro, on 07/23/2008, -2/+11Your face takes market share away from Linux!
- bodger, on 07/23/2008, -0/+8Yeah, he really is the Apple core.
- peaceninja, on 07/23/2008, -4/+12buried. bill gates lived the american dream, and he created a foundation. people are constantly dogging on this dude which is ok, but to wish that he has bad health, c'mon!!! you are an asshat.
- Meursault, on 07/23/2008, -1/+9People who remember the state of Apple before he returned.
- dchoward1977, on 07/23/2008, -5/+12El Jobso is fine. He's a vegan and is aging, he's never going to be a fat old man...
- aliguana, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7ok, can we quit it with the "is he, isn't he?" stories now? you're making ME sick...
- TomFrost, on 07/23/2008, -1/+8He's been a vegan for awhile. In a year, he went from healthy, full, and energetic to downright frail. His nutrition is more of a constant in this situation.
- dstory, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8Steve doesn't to disclose anything. There is more to Apple than Steve, granted he is the most visible extension of the company.
You don't see Disneys' stock dropping even though Pixar is the only good thing at Disney Movies these days. - PueSi, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7What marketshare?
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8When Steve dies, Apple will still be making good products. OS X will continue. It's not like the man writes all the code and lays out all the PCBs. I don't own a bunch of macs because I'm in love with Steve Jobs.
- lexbaby, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5You don't think the Disney resorts, the other Disney Studios (Touchstone and Miramax), Disney Channel, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, ABC, ESPN, the Muppets, Walt Disney records, Hollywood Records, the Disney Store, et al. have anything to do with Disney's stock value?
- banmaster, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7When was the last time any of us was the public face of a $135 billion company who has had cancer in the past and was too pig headed to have surgery to easily correct it, instead going on some woo-woo ***** diet for 7 months and then finally getting 'real' treatment because said diet was a loaf of crap and did nothing?
- banmaster, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5You need to go over your history again. Jobs never created anything, it was all Woz.
- TomFrost, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Sir, if I could digg you twice, I certainly would. Well said.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5***** asking if the ***** CEO of a ***** company has ***** cancer isn't making a ***** joke about it.
- Homerr, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5I'm sure Apple fanboys would like a stool sample for analysis.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -18/+22Didn't Apple just release a new cool widget that tracks the spread of Stevie's cancer in real-time?
- Iwantawii, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6Yes.
- banmaster, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5No, apple would die a 2nd time with no Jobs, and would stay dead this time as Jobs utterly refuses to have anybody groomed to fill his shoes when he departs.
- briLo, on 07/23/2008, -11/+15Do you guys really give a *****?? When was the last time Steve Jobs was worried about you being sick, having cancer, AIDS, Tuberculosis, the Plague or the Black Lung?
I don't mean to be harsh, but honestly who ***** cares?! - charlesray, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6People are asking if he is healthy because if he is not, Apple is pretty much doomed. It's a little bit important. Also, the guy is a moron and initially refused modern medical treatment for a condition that is easily treatable.
- xtal3, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4He'll come back as a tasteful reproduction of a Gucci coffee table
- Nightfall, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5Ladies and gentlemen....we have a Linux fanboy! One with no class or taste on top of that.
- bradleyland, on 07/23/2008, -2/+5Are you serious?

$145 billion market cap. Steve Jobs is the guy that brought Apple back from the dead. Investors "care" deeply about his well being, as it is tied directly to their finances. - FredFredrickson, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3We can rebuild him — we have the technology.
- Jibberwalk, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Jonathan Ive is more than capable of filling Job's shoes.
- bbqsalad, on 07/23/2008, -1/+4You suck.
- nullcodes, on 07/23/2008, -2/+5To the idiots who are saying "who gives a *****" .. people who invested money in Apple "give a *****" because without Steve they're concerned that the MONEY that the invested could be lost since Apple may no longer perform as well.
In other words, people give a ***** about their money .. which is in the hands of Steve Jobs health.
Others care about whether they will continue to get well designed products. And then there may also be a few people who *gasp* care about the health of a fellow human. I think most of the "concerned people" are investors though.
Now understand? Good. - livet0ski, on 08/17/2009, -0/+3http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/23/stev ...
