- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Shut up Goat. You go on every Mac related story and spam it with your trolling comments. If you hate Apple so much, why don't you leave it alone?
- Malakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Shiira uses the KHTML rendering engine so it will render webpages identical to Safari. They're simply trying to make a better Safari than Safari.
- fredsterss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16son, if you dont have the quartz framework you've got bigger problems than using shiira.
- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I agree, Shiira has the most potential of any other browser. I've tried them all. Safari, then Firefox, then Camino, then Flock, then Safari.
Shiira is just too buggy now, a rock-solid version could make me leave Safari for good. - fraggle35, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Forget the blog, go to the Shiira homepage
http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en - a3r0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I injured my neck while trying to look at those screenshots. I demand compensation.
- miken32, on 10/12/2007, -3/+157 comments and it's down. I don't think changing your software is going to help you! Try changing your server...
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Shiira is a dolphin fish, not a ***** samurai.
- tabledesk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12This. is. amazing.
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Is the browser itself rotated to the left a bit? I'd have a stiff neck if it were.
- Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Trust me, something will be done about it. For now, use mirror: http://duggmirror.com/apple/Introducing_Shiira_2_0_Browser_Visual_Preview/
- luckyjonny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Sounds too much like She-Ra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She-ra for my liking.
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4(i'm using it presently)
i like Shiira better than safari
this little thingy at the bottom is amazin... It's like graphic web page tabs.
it doesn't, however, have a solution for importing your bookmarks. But i'm sure they'll include that in the final release - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They should really get more people working on this.... they've been developing this thing for almost a year and I really want to use it without fear of my computer spontaneously combusting.
- shadownight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Shiira 2.0 looks like it'll be the best browser, only... for now, it's unusable. But when everything get working, it's gonna rock. There is so much more innovation in Shiira than in Safari, it's amazing. I'm sticking for Safari for now because it's nice and stable, but I hope Shiira 2.0 will make me switch.
Sure, you can get these features in Firefox. But I tried Firefox for two weeks as my default browser, and while it's great on Windows, on a Mac, it doesn't feel right. At least not for me. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This blog is BS. He claims Adobe CS2.3 will be Universal which is totally inaccurate. The whole 'g' rising up thing is a copy of www.5thirtyone.com
- evelian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The big deal is that someone decided to blog about it...
at any rate, I dugg it, because I did not know about the 2.0 Beta, and I have been wanting something similar but better (i.e. free) than OmniWeb for a while. - OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3FireFox < Shiira
- manofsilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess I'd have to try it ... but judging from the site I can't quite see what makes this so much better than all the rest.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used to use shiira for a long time instead of safari (during it's pre 1.0 phase) and there wer a few things that drove me to Camino but I think that 2.0 will make me switch back because I did like a lot of things about t. I just hope they kee the side dock/bar an option.. that was my favorite thing about the browser.
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't get it. Shiira 2.0 was a big deal like a month and a half ago. So was the visual preview that was put up by one of the developers.
- ajamison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They need to clean up the Shiira forums....spammer heaven, and nothing useful comes out of there. I recently got very tired of how slow Firefox runs on my Mac, and looked into Shiira...and while it was ok, I'm interested to see what the changes will be. For now I'm sticking with Camino. :^)
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was blogged by one of the developers. That's far more important and informative than this.
I can use the screenshot tool too. - gaoshan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I heard Shiira described as 'Safari with the training wheels taken off'.
The only way to get close using Safari is to download Webkit nightlies but even then, Shiira takes advantage of features that are on the absolute cutting edge of Webkit development. Really a joy to use though it is still very much a beta product. - stewacide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Love this program, especially the full-screen mode, but the 2.0 "beta" is EXTREMELY buggy in my experience.
- KMartSheriff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2lol, owned
- Irfit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Shiira's code its like camino's. Just for OSX, but its open source, feel free to make a windows version=)
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2it's too buggy to be amazing. yet.
- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6http://duggmirror.com/apple/Introducing_Shiira_2_0_Browser_Visual_Preview/
Too bad its still digg affected, check the mirror. - protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I've never had a problem with bugs in Shiira and I use it all the time. I was trying to find a good browser to use that was Universal, and found Shiira on digg, so I gave it a shot, and it worked really well (especially the convenient sidebar).
As long as it works as well as it does for me now, I'm really looking forward to this update! - Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh, I can totally see the similarities now. Shame on me.
- vprice509, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"Introducing"?
- Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Site back up, online, and running.
- radiantm3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Someone already introduced and blogged about it a little over a month ago and it hit the front page on digg: http://www.digg.com/apple/Meet_the_next-generation_browser_for_the_Mac_Shiira_2.0
Nothing new here. - fak3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I downloaded it, I ran it, nothing. Dropped to the commandline and ran it and get this:
dyld: ./Shiira.app/Contents/MacOS/Shiira can't open library: /System/Library/Frameworks/Quartz.framework/Versions/A/Quartz (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Trace/BPT trap
Looking into it, I have no Quartz.framework directory, do I have to install that sep? Would like to check it out, let me know if anyone else has this issue. - Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I think it's dedicated server time...
- dawtmike, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3As long as this isn't the memory hog that Safari is I will gladly switch over.
- teitoku, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Man, PLEASE explain why 2.0 is going to rock because the current version is trash.
- ferrell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Why the digg down? Do I have to spell it out for you?
Shiira / Sharia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharia
I thought Digg readers were a bit more clued in than this.
Samurai? WTF? - septicmadman, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4What exactly makes this different or better?
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I don't know about you guys, but I love Omniweb. Worth every penny for the power browser.
- KevinLiu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3I had to tilt my monitor to look at the screenshots :)
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Where's the He-Man web browser?
- MSTK, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0...there's a mac browser business? Doesn't make much sense to me. Wouldn't it be more productive to just create things for both PC and Mac insetad of restricting it to the smaller market?
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Sounds

- bilbus, on 10/12/2007, -18/+0Lame
- Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -31/+7I think you Diggers will be happy to hear I re-designed the blog yesterday and switched to WordPress, so the site shouldn't crash under heavy traffic anymore. Enjoy!
- goat77, on 10/12/2007, -33/+7Wow, full screen browsing!
Seriously, almost all of these features have been around since IE6/Firefox 1.0 (with extensions), minus a bit of eye-candy.

What is Digg?
