- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Apple: I got something to tell you, Intel.
Intel: What's that?
Apple: You know that PC you've been with? I was with him all night, sharing files, pictures, raw data--
Intel: WHAT YOU SAY ??
Apple: That's okay, you can have him. He's dull online anyway--
Intel: Wha--that's my MAN you talkin about! *jabs Apple in face* *gets pulled by guards*
Audience: JERRY! JERRY! - semvhu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good grief you people are NUTS! You waste time and breathe bashing one computer camp or the other when you could find something halfway productive to do instead. Just use what you like and don't put someone down for not being like yourself.
Grow up, people. - crawdad62, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From reading the article it looks more like Intel knew exactly (or close to it) what was going on in the ad. Then when the heat came down (and this is conjecture on my part, from "other" PC makers) they took a step back trying to distance themselves a bit. Playing both sides so to speak.
Admittedly I'm a Mac user but I don't think I've ever ragged on Windows. I just prefer not to use them. But come on it's a freaking ad. It ain't gospel.
That's like being offended because Coke says they're the "Real Thing" (or whatever their slogan is now) when you know in your heart Pepsi is the best. Get real. It's corporate America at it's finest. Nothing to see here...... move along. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I sure wish someone would have an opinion on the whole Mac vs. PC thing. It's been over 20 years since the Mac came out, and I still can't get anyone to say which one they prefer, or why.
- stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Ok... look at your average Dell box and tell me it's not dull. The ad is just calling it like it is. I like it.
- waxdart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I figure that there will be a review soon showing that Mac getting its doors blown off by an Athlon64 notebook."
Wow. And you just so _completely_ missed the point. - dhakbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone who thinks style is important in a computer purchase is a retard.
That is all. - dykesat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ouch. Seems like Apple makes for a strange bed partner.
How could Intel not predict that Apple would use this type of ad campaign? How else would Apple differentiate itself from PC-Intels? - xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I don't like corporations like Apple and Microsoft that don't care about their customers"
Being a FORMER Windows user I can say Microsoft don't care about the average/home/power user/creative professional customers because Microsoft's idiotic CEO Ballmer said thathimself, But I do not know about Apple, Apple DOES listen cause I hear them all the time saying "Well since a lot of you requested (insert cool new addition)" all the time! I rarely hear Microsoft say something like that just "Since our ENTERPRISE customers blah blah blah we added a lame feature".. And please if your gonna BASH at least make sure you have actually tried the product and have a clear understanding about the company your bashing, I specially hate the one liner comments with profanity!!!.. - joeyjojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This looks like a fishy scheme to get media attention and publicity"
Isn't that what advertising is? - il0vemymac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@xipher:
I couldn't agree with you more...

It is simply a matter of personal preference. Why people can't live with that is beyond me.
Oh, and Matt.Rubin, what the hell made you so bitter? - ConradB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Intel vs Motorola.IBM is now out of the way. Intel one (with a slight problem called AMD)
Now it's back to the big game.
Apple vs Windows. It's back on! - Polymira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I figure that there will be a review soon showing that Mac getting its doors blown off by an Athlon64 notebook."
Dude, different kind of processor for a different task ... go get an amd64 laptop, and watch the heat come out and the battery die in under 2 hours - xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0JKFAN is an uneducated Troll look at all of his comments, get a life and while your at it go read some books "it'll make you smart" it amazes me how stupid people use profanity extensively to make them look smart and yet they just make themselves look like ignorant idiots...
so bottom-line I would make two assumptions it's either your a teenager or two your dropped out of school... - jedijome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1is my pc dull?
is windows boring?
sure it is, but i'm too busy playing games and doing assignments to spend time looking at the dull boring case or even notice it.
with a mac once you're done with your work, umm yeah you can go check out the case. ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was a stupid ad by Apple and I'm an iMac owner. If any platform is 'customizible' it's the PC platform. Hundreds of case designs, mobo prefs, lighting, paint, fans, etc. The list goes on and on. Jobs needs to come back down to Earth.
- starmanjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>Audience: JERRY! JERRY!
:D indeed. - metamongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh please. it's not intel's ad. when are these corporations and their PR flaks and other assorted shils of dubious credentials and intelligence going to stop issuing righteous statements and retractions about ***** everything? it is so ***** spineless and lame. cowards, all. no digg.
- hotwaterham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""If i only do dull stuff on PC's then maybe I don't need the new MacBook.
Thanks Apple for making buying decisions easier for me!"
If you are being serious, then that's the stupidest thing i've ever read. not only did that make no sense, but it's obvious that you don't know what you're talking about."
It made sense to me. What the original poster was saying was this; "Apple, if you think that PCs are dull and that everything done on PCs are dull then why would I need to switch to an Apple computer? Clearly, you must think I'm dull, Apple, because I'm content with my PC."
...Also, it's probably not a good idea to insult the intelligence of other posters when you don't understand things. - chevyorange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"If i only do dull stuff on PC's then maybe I don't need the new MacBook.
Thanks Apple for making buying decisions easier for me!"
Sounds like you had your mind made up already. Alas, so do I. When the 17" is rolled out there will be an encryped transaction between Apple and I over the internet and my bank account will go down about $3k.
And I'll love every minute of it! - starmanjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>All this is going to get your current customers (like Dell) to finally take the leap and start putting AMD >processors in their machines. All this to get your processors in a brand that gets 5% of the market. Good >going.
ok. we correct the FUD once more. the people that decided these market share things finally figured out that market share at the cash register doesn't equal installed user base. macs are estimated at around 25% of the installed base. market share at the checkout counter is less because Macs don't break like PCs... you need to buy 3 PCs for every mac you wear out. - bantam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think the ad is very true. Over the Summer i Bought 2 macs i sold them both off 2 months ago to use the money towards a Intel mac. all i can say is this. Those 2 months without my mac sucked, and i am happy as hell to get my new mac book very soon.
- Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was a cheap shot.
Embaressing if you ask me.
Childish - agarc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL. "Apple has no right!"
No right? Are we joking here? Why are people so offended? It's advertising... They have a right.
My point of view: it's not the PC that's dull; it's really the operating system that resides in most of them. As a web designer, I have to say that the interface around your Photoshop and text editor can affect your work environment. I have always felt that the Windows look and feel was "dull." This isn't usually a problem, but if I have a choice, I'd much rather work on a Mac OS. From the looks of Vista, Windows will be imrpoved, but I still like how "clean" the Mac OS looks and feels. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
But I don't get all defensive and hateful when people try to convince me that Windows is great/better... Weirdos!
As far as gaming goes, I think more games will come out for mactels... Call me crazy, but I see more and more people switching to Linux and Mac OS. Competition is good! Let's not all become Windows drones... - trancepriest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Through my indepth research... most PC users have no style and are poor. Having a Windows box nowadays is like being a member of the third world.
- foohookups311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha i love it apple is the underdog company that is finally showing signs of life and will breakout in much success even past the mp3 player market
- smeager, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0-polvo- : Mac's were always PC's (Personal Computer), it has nothing o do with the hardware thay runs it. Hell Linux is a PC just as Windows is.
- AngryPunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...people are just starting to buy their THIRD Mac? Are you really that asinine that you are saying the average Apply pathetic fanboy only buys one Mac every 10 years?"
I've only bought 3 macs in the last 20 years... first a Mac Plus, then a PowerMac 7500, then the eMac im using now. - corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha when I first saw the Ad on the keynote, I was like "Has Intel ever seen this before? And do they know what Apple is saying about their life's work?"
dugg - polvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how people are saying PCs are dull and whatever.
Aren't MACs now technically PCs. They both run off the same processors and similar hardware.
Now Windows is dull but will that hold up against Vista? - jefftheworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple is definately a better operating system and does have a lot of good programs for film, audio, and other creative projects but it still doesnt have the support program-wise that windows does. Most of the major tax, stock and investment programs, as well as games, and 3d design programs are only available for windows.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Congratulations, Intel. Now you know what it is like working with Apple. You should have talked with Motoroloa. Apple is going to treat you like they treat their customers. Like blow up sex dolls.
All this is going to get your current customers (like Dell) to finally take the leap and start putting AMD processors in their machines. All this to get your processors in a brand that gets 5% of the market. Good going. - piznut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beige box makers.
Who the hell sells beige boxes anymore? What mainstream PC mfgr has sold a beige box in the last handful of years? Apple marketing is counting on the continuing ignorance of its customer base when it comes to anything and everything outside of the little niche they have carved.
This isn't to say that Apple products arent somewhat innovative and that their software doesnt have a place...it is, and it does. They apparantly realize that in order to keep their current customers, it pays to have them stay in the dark about technology outside of the Apple world. This isn't new at all. - starmanjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0of course intel knew it. intel was all but saying it themselves. why does intel NOT like Microsoft. because microsoft required that they make backwards little chips to put in dull boxes... to do dull little tasks. they are very happy to jump into bed with apple... the microsoft relationship was abusive.
- timbtwisted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's funny. Settle down Intel, it's not like your customers car. OH NO they called me boring, ha whatever, it's a good ad
- Latentk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THis one is so great, I liked the Ad, and I am an avid PC user. Though I am also purchasing a Macbook, I thought it was great. No hard feelings Intel!
- Jay2005, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah, the ability to play games is pretty ***** dull, isnt it. macs are great, but only if you just need a web and email machine (yeah, im being a douche. they do other things. eat me)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0any one got a torrent for that ad
- smeager, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its funny to see this kind of reaction from an ad (a successful one at that, creating noise is the main purpose right). The idea I get from it, in the sence of being dull, is the applications that once only ran on Intel x86, now will run the more popular Apple Software Suites (iLife, iWorks, Final Cut Studio, Aperture, Logic and all of its other software) and of course Mac OSX. Now being able to use the power of new technology.
You have to remember that this ad wasn't a direct attack against PC user's, even the manufacture's. Most of these comment rwmind me of the my daddy is better then your daddy fights you got into in grade school.
Oh and for everybody who says "My PC isn't dull because I can play games on it", that wasn't even the idea of the add. A majority of the PC market is business based not personal/home use. Thats what they were getting at. - Raian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is Digg becoming slashdot? this is a troll festival-- It's a stupid ad, and a statement by Intel to cover their ass from companies like Dell-- Do you fools actually care that much about advertising??
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"If i only do dull stuff on PC's then maybe I don't need the new MacBook.
Thanks Apple for making buying decisions easier for me!"
If you are being serious, then that's the stupidest thing i've ever read. not only did that make no sense, but it's obvious that you don't know what you're talking about.

^ *coughcough*mentallyretarted*coughcough* - ImpactedColon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Reporting all Flames. Tires of fanbois -- if you need to believe in one OS over another (and that goes for you too, Linux) go to computer church, and stop preaching to me.
- matt.rubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Then if apple thinks their all that they need to go head to head with alienware and/or Voodoopc to compare "style"

That doesn't look so beige to me............... - dogbyte_13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The PC / AMD fanboys, probably just can't afford a Mac"
Sorry man my PC cost $3,000 2 years ago Fully loaded AMD 64 system that smoked any intel at the time!! So dont go spurting nonsense about things you have no clue about!! Also do i want the new Macbook pro? damn skippy becuase OSX is a nice OS compared to any crap that M$ can come up with. - kwoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Talking about ads is just another way to advertize.
- soaring, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Intel just trying to save some face. Like anybody other than OEMs would be offended by that ad!
- jamester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0matt.rubin: core image, man. Mac has plenty of power in the graphics department.
