- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Which is a good thing, you dont want intel cpus with out intel chipsets. And I am sure Apple and their engineers are going to design the board but intel is going to make the chipsets.
- TWiTarmy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I don't know how much it's going to save them [but]...Intel pays to have Intel Inside on the computers."
wasn't there just an article saying that Intel was dropping Intel Inside?
Whatever, I believe the article (though I'd like to see it confirmed by ThinkSecret).
I'm planning on getting one of the new mac minis if they're going to be how ThinkSecret says they are. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i like the idea of cheaper macs, because of the handover of motherboard designs etc to Intel, means less costs for Apple, plus the millions intel pumps out to manfacturers for displaying intel logos on products, this move looks good for apple all round
Cheaper macs all round?
I guess we wont know until they come out. - kelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The ONLY thing important to Apple+Steve Jobs is asthetics - the whole thing about apple is that it's DIFFERENT."
WTF are you talking about? Apple has had faster computers, better bundled software, more integrated software, better engineered hardware and a better designed operating system. They also happen to make more aesthetically pleasing hardware. Why some people think that aesthetics is the only thing that differentiates Apple gear totally escapes me. To top it all off, they offer all this for significantly less than what an equally equipped PC would cost.
Apple isn't going the extra mile simply to be different, but to be better.
"Making apple just another PC would be against everything that makes Apple APPLE"
But there's so much more to Apple gear than a motherboard and pretty hardware. Once you recognize that, you will realize the reason why so many people are so passionate about the company and its products. - Gobblieguk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article isn't anything new and spectacular. We've all known and have been waiting for this for a quite a bit of time now. It is just a matter of time until we get to see these new things! Mac World in January??? Maybe at least a demo with production delayed for a bit. Who knows....but its going to be worth the wait no matter how long!!!
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Cheaper Macs coming to a Apple store near you!
I told you. - flake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wonder who will do the manufacturing? Foxconn does Intel brand boards and they've seemed to be very high quality and use conservative times which makes them very stable.
Sounds like a real win for Apple. Dugg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i suppose people will be relucktant to buy the new macs, because they will want to know what the outcome of this introduction will be,
Ill be waiting for a few months at least - BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ryyguy, they're only developing the motherboard. Not the whole computer.
- deepsub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@7of7
Apple? A monopoly? ha ha ha
Since when? - okto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If AppleInsider says it, it MUST be true! That's why we've seen three different remakes of the Newton and a video iPod that came out in 2003!
- ryyguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1While the article has some interesting things to say, any "Industry Analyst" that thinks, even for one second, that Apple would put out "plain 'ol pc's" instead of their "white boxes", is a certified moron. The ONLY thing important to Apple+Steve Jobs is asthetics - the whole thing about apple is that it's DIFFERENT. Remember their old ad campaign "Think Different"? That isn't going to change. Making apple just another PC would be against everything that makes Apple APPLE
- TheD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+014 more days...
- relpek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Possibly one of the most unreliable rumor sites out there.
- Apparatus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's hoping that Apple expands its product offerings once the Intel transition really gets underway and gives consumers the option of buying an expandable/customizable tower priced between an iMac and a Power Mac, because at the moment, the gap is just too large between the two.
- NidStyles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It'll be interesting to see the new Powerbooks. I'll be getting one at least. I thought about grabbing up a dual G5, but I want to make sure it's going to be until '07 before the intels come in them before I grab one.
- inkhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Foxconn, also does the current IBM Apple motherboards to jack***,
- hiro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Can't wait 'til Bill buys Apple, adding the few nice Mac touches to Windows will make an unbeatable operating system. Got to to wait nearly 5 yrs yet though : (
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0As is yours EmilyLizardo.
We support the company. Either it be Motorola, IBM or Intel, we standby Apple. To quote Steve Jobs
"More than even the processor, more than even hardware innovations we bring to the market, the soul of the Mac is its operating system." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What? No 'Mac sucks' comments? Where are all the Gates-lovers with baseless comments? What has become of Digg.com?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0> You can pay $130 for OSX just so you can feel legal
Please, tell me where I can buy this mythical Beige Box release of OS X for intel processors?
Yeah... that's what I thought: You can't. - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0New rumor: Apple is actually going to use AMD 29000 series processors, the Intel speculation is a diversion! Also, Mac OS XI will be based off GNU/Hurd, and the new Apple design aesthetic will be based on Art Nouveau.
- Jorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ummm.... Macs became "Power Macs" when they switched from Motorola to IBM Power PC didn't they?
IBM owns the *Power PC* brand, so why are they still using *Power* in their branding?
Jorgie - SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0No one forces you to buy apple hardware. You can pay $130 for OSX just so you can feel legal, but download a cracked version that works on a generic industry PC.
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I don't really care how cheap Macs become, the bottom line will still be that they're made by a heartless monopolistic company that refuses to allow it's software to run on anything besides its own proprietary hardware.
- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0there will always be mindless sheep that will buy an iTURD if it came from Apple AND it was nice looking, truth be it. I have a Mac and a PC, I'm not all that impressed with Apple, not as much as I should for the price. One mac works flawlessly and one *****-itself about once per month. Both the same G5, I gave up on my mac mini and sold it, its too beginner and too slow for me, but would be great for grandma.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0What a ***** embarrassment.
Who the hell would be stupid enough to buy one of the turds.
It is hilarious to watch the Mac loonies trying to brag about Intel and their roadmap cuz Jobs said so in front of real x86 fanboys. The x86 fanboy reactions are priceless... - theuber1337, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Doesn't change the fact that apple computers are teh crap.
Remember kids you can't spell Crap...ple without Apple! Yeah! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Who cares? :)
