- GeckoSlayer, on 08/02/2008, -1/+6I feel really sorry about you US people. Australia is actually in front with something *yaay* We have a world-leading standard in SOMETHING. With 99% population coverage with 3G service, and the *current* fastest network in the world!
Ah, but I feel we're going to lose all of those titles as soon as japan tells us what they've been using the last few years.. - swimtwobirds, on 08/02/2008, -0/+5sigh.
- bradthomas223, on 08/02/2008, -0/+4I recently took the iphone plunge and have so far been fairly satisfied. I have noticed that in my area the AT&T voice signal seems to do the wavy in and out thing from time to time. With my Sprint service the signal was clearer and stronger with no wavy stuff. But I didn't get an iphone for the voice I got it for data and safari is awesome for web surfing on the go even without 3g in my area.
I would have to say my chief complaint is the volume of the speakers which really surprises me since the 3g model is suppose to have alot better speakers than the original. Both my previous phones (treo 755p & razr2 v9m) blow the iphone 3g away on speaker volume and clarity. Kinda disappointing because I always feel like the speaker volume is set on half all the time.
But again safari is awesome! (And yes I have used opera mini and I do not think it is as good) - swimtwobirds, on 08/02/2008, -0/+4whats the idea there? you socially retarded, stunted, pale,
withered tool. that was seriously annoying and it crashes the browser. - shank2001, on 08/02/2008, -0/+2I didnt have a first gen iPhone, and I was sad that they got rid of the metal back... BUT I have changed my mind. I dont have a scratch on my black iPhone, anywhere! And I have not been gentle with it. It is very resistent to scratches, unlike the metal of the first gen. And it does feel a lot better in your hand. I really like the new look now.
- yeskia, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1We may have 3G, but we don't have carriers who seem to want us to use it... without paying heavily for it.
- coldfusion1970, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1I guess you never noticed the newer features like 3G and GPS.
I can assure you that they are there as i'm using it right now. - inactive, on 08/02/2008, -3/+4***** OFF
- srg13, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1Prices aren't great though - the cheapest iPhone plan is around $40 a month ($20 service and $20 for the phone for an 8GB) and that only gives you $100 meg...
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1and it's the smelliest one sixth of the world's population too
- shinew, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1And I feel sorry for you australians. I just came back to the US from Australia and your data plan there is ridiculously expensive. $69/month with a 250MB cap for iphone? no thanks!
- Heidenreich12, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1I had the pleasure of using an iPhone since it came out over a year ago, and was quick to upgrade to the 3G. The biggest problem I had with the first generation iPhone was the sound quality. You couldn't hear your ringtone go off at all when it was in your pocket. This article talks about how much better the audio is with the 3G phone, and i'm happy Apple listened, and fixed that (though, i still think it should be a bit louder).
I will say, with the new one, it feels better in your hand, but your more likely to drop it. If you are in the heat and your hands are a little sweaty, that plastic back will make it slip right out of your hand (dropped my first iPhone 3G and cracked screen 2 days after its release). But overall, I really like it, and would recommend a case.
Great review from Apple Insider! - afajem, on 08/02/2008, -2/+3I couldn't get past the iPhones that are seemingly making out.... (queue porno music)
