- unknownsoldierX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+107MS didn't copy the Mac trash can. They improved upon it. It's a recycle bin. It's...um, better. More eco-friendly.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -5/+102"back then"? It was only 11 years ago.
note to self: get rid of denim shirts. - AirPortPanic, on 10/12/2007, -26/+121
Interesting. I guess PC's will always be relevant and Mac's come and go like fads. - XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+91On Seinfeld Jerry had a Mac, the episode in which Elaine met the Bizarro Jerry, Kramer, George, and Newman Elaine goes to "bizarro Jerry's" apartment in which instead of the Mac there is a pc. Gosh I feel like such a nerd knowing this.
- halfgoonhalfgod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+90My eyes hurt from looking at that fashion abomination! Did people really wear denim shirts back then? Blargh!
Interesting, but the shirt (and hair) (and the watch) (and especially the hair) loses points. - dkm201, on 10/12/2007, -1/+77The Mac guy is way dorkier.
- thelab101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+69reducto ad seinfeld: Given enough time and knowledge of the show, the probability of a real life occurrence being directly relatable to an episode of seinfeld moves towards one.

- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -7/+72Loses points? Are you kidding? I'm making fashion notes right now!
Got to find a wacky watch.... - picto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+61Man that Mac is one denim jacket away from a Canadian Tuxedo.
- Actionjakson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56That pc pales in comparison to John Hodgman.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+57I'm not a mac fan, but this ad seems to slam on both of them. Basically it told me that the PC guy is uptight and no fun and the mac guy is a tool.
- drmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50Why does the mac guy have his hand down his pants and a dodgy looking smile
- FTLJohnson, on 10/12/2007, -20/+66PC's - still in style, and still using applicable technology... (unlike a "phonenet cable")
edit: wow, thought this was a longer thread... sorry for comment abuse. - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -12/+58So.. they've been insulting and demeaning their competitors/possible customers for 11 years, eh ? Or is it 12 years with the infamous Trash Can poster ? ;)
Amusing, anyway, the hobby for the Mac addict is right on and seen daily on Digg. :P - solemnraven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46LoL i remember when earrings were cool, and by cool i mean if you were Budnick on salute your shorts.
- UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49I was never a fan of Macs, but the wacky watch just won me over. I'm picking up an ibook tomorrow so I have an excuse to wear my Homer Simpson talking watch and my jean shirt from 7th grade again!
- airmann90, on 10/12/2007, -6/+48I only WISH I could get my hair to look like Seinfeld's, or better yet, get a crazy watch like that!
- moisie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44Not that there's anything wrong with that.
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42It kind of backfires on them that 10 years down the road the "hip" one always looks more ridiculous. A guy with that style nowadays would probably inspire people to think he is a stay at home dad or a yoga class instructor. Noble professions as well, but definitely not "cool."
I am sure it will be no different with the modern mac ads. - waveman216, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40zip drive, lol
- PradaPete, on 10/12/2007, -13/+47as with the John Hodgman ads, this too makes me want to switch to PC immediately and burn every Apple product in my household.
There's nothing worse than sourcing your self-esteem from external things like which computer system you prefer, and Apple Inc. makes a whole lifestyle out of it.
Snobism is not going to help you sell machines - that's why your market share still doesn't explode, even with Windows running on your machine.
And yes, I use Apple only but would still prefer the pc guy's haircut and sense of style - ericrous, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32The "PhoneNet connector" was yet another in a long line of Mac fads that let Mac users assert their hipness over those foolish PC users with their un-hip "Ethernet cables." Like most such great Mac features, it was promptly abandoned about 5 minutes later.
- DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+37Dude they both look gay, the mac guy looks like he is aware he is gay and is out of the closet. The PC dude looks like a raging ***** just waiting to fly out, and jump in some fullblown drag action.
- datsclark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28http://www.macmothership.com/gallery/newads5/AppleWin95.jpg
Incidentally, I found that here: http://digg.com/apple/The_Apple_Ad_Slamming_Windows_95_for_copying_the_Mac_Trash_Can - mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29Oh, I guess denim is out now? I.. uh.. gotta go change clothes.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24I remember 1996. I would have laughed at someone wearing a denim shirt.
- raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+36Those stereotypes are way wrong. All PC _fans_ I know tend to look more like what Apple wants to portray as Mac guys.
- raz98, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23the mac dude looks kind of gay
- ericrous, on 10/12/2007, -11/+30Macs aren't fads! They're timeless, just like the Jerry Seinfeld haircut!
- neohx_7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21The Mac guy should be wearing a black turtleneck with those mom-jeans.
- ucg1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19It's not an ad. It's the magazine itself making fun of both of them.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18The "dodgy looking smile" is because.... his hand is down his pants.
- Jahandar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I'm not certain, but it's a good bet that now, 11 years later, flyers are given to alert neighbors where-ever he moves.
- kineticarl, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22@frozenwookie:
Stereotype update!
Mac's Belief: Thinks Steve Jobs is God. Bill who?
PC's Belief: Knows Steve Jobs thinks he's God. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16wow. niether of those guys is getting laid... by either sex... anytime soon.
- drgruney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15What in the world is a PhoneNet connector?
- frozenwookie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17kinda interesting how all this time later, they still don't have any new stereotypes
- poxonyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I agree. The "PC" guy looks like he's a member of Kraftwerk, who are awesome of course. A timeless look. The Mac guy looks like a mid-90s Jerry Seinfeld wanna-be.
- xtoph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16http://digg.com/apple/The_Apple_Ad_Slamming_Windows_95_for_copying_the_Mac_Trash_Can
- Rodzirra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Our company's Christmas "gift" to all employees last year was a denim shirt with a company logo on it.
Guess how many times I've worn it. - misterinvisible, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14It almost seems more like a commentary on both users than just a Mac ad. Was it a picto-editorial or something?

- orlyfactor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14That episode was on last night here in NYC - now that's a weird coincidence....or is it?
- ratbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11He looks like Jerry Seinfeld's flamboyantly gay twin brother.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Sorry mac, but my rule of thumb is dont trust a guy with an earing ;)
