You can just see music, videos, podcasts, booklets etc. - jessejanderson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe it's just bug fixes and stability.
- cipnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1'software update' is an osx app :p you're all not reading
ty, +digg - reverb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15.0.1 is now on the main iTunes download page:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - M3wThr33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Podcasts AREN'T in the MUSIC library.
Go to view and pull up the category listings, then click "Music" and podcasts are filtered out. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Windows version now available. Go.
- d3designs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man... my cd burner still doesn't work with iTunes 5.0.1.4!
It worked fine with 4.9... but every since 5.0 it won't let me burn.
It just keeps saying "Disc burner or software not found..."
And it shows the burner in the burning tab!
Very ANNOYING!
Come on Apple, you can do better than this! - Motobike_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Under Windows:
Help -> Check for iTunes Updates
yields:
"This version of iTunes (5.0) is the current version."
No digg."
The automatic update is always the last to come through. If you were to actually take the time to download it and run the installer you would see that it is version 5.0.1.4 - kingofallchili, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15.01 is now out for OSX, but not for XP. I just 5.01 for my Mac, but the 5.0 under XP is claiming that it is still up-to-date.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iTunes 5.0.1 features several stability improvements over iTunes 5.
Official word from Apple. - dolphumous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I updated from within iTunes 5.0 it said "A new version 5.0.1" was available and I just DL'ed it.
WinXP - Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+05.0.1 still doesn't even launch for me on XP. Now waiting for 5.0.2. :-(
- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"To toggle podcasts on and off in the main library make sure you have enable the Show Search Bar, under the Edit menu."
AWESOME! I didn't know about that! Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it isn't very obvious and it's something a lot of people will miss. - listerine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm having a very hard time loading there download "frame" on there website, is anyone hosting the file?
- imeep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple, i'm losing your respect.
When i open 5.0.1 it says "iTunes failed to install some files, please reinstall."
I'm so sick of this crap. Back to 4.8 i go, and setting up my library again. ><
Unless someone knows a 4.9 installer.. That would be MUCHLY appreciated. - gorkon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want the podcasts in the playlists. That way I can mix music and podcasts together. What I want MORE is the ability to load podcasts via autofill. I guess it would be ok to have a switch, but I would not use it. I like being able to see the podcasts I have not listened all the way through (since the podcast menu updates when you listen to ANY of the file where as in a playlist it only updates play count when you play it all the way through (or trick it to).
- XorSystem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The new firmware for my I-pod photo changed around a couple of features.... for instance, when in 'Now Playing' mode, when you click the center button, it goes to the seek menu, then album art, in the previous version, it was vice-versa.
I also had my I-pod freeze for the first time ever with this new firmware... never had that issue before, I hope it's not a recurring thing. - Cyrus89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does anyone else have problems with itunes and adobe album starter 3 cos i can never get my photos on my ipod
- abyssknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just installed it (5.0.1.4 Windows), and I can finally check and uncheck the darn Outlook sync boxes without it crashing. Although, it still will not sync correctly. It stills yields the -50 error code. Oh well... at least I don't get crazy crashes anymore.
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1^ xbmc, I agree that podcasts should not be in the library. It makes it very messy... they should at least have a way of toggling that off.
- xbmcrules, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Got it
Podcasts are still in the libary
Darn - StarSaber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bad it did not fix the problem of podcasts downloaded from iTunes store not appearing in my playlist. I hope they fix it in the next one. Or else give me my 4.9 (which worked great) back.
- O5ci11ator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just installed it but it didn't fix the problems I was having. iTunes still crashes everytime I access the music store. It was working just fine with 4.9. Back to the drawing board Apple!
- Donut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iTunes 5.0 worked fine for me except for the Search function being a little buggy. but the podcasts were fine. i didnt have them listed in my library as most people claim.
as someone said before, there needs to be an update for the ipod , so the folders work on the ipod.
cause i still have to letter and number my playlists to appear in a specific order. and the folders help keep it organized. but once it transfers to the ipod, its a big mess. - LinkinJunior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just curios, does anyone here get display problems with the new iTunes?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not sure if I want to download this. iTunes 5.0 crashes on opening and it fuxored my Quicktime Pro installation so bad that I can't even uninstall QT7.
I hate apple. - Kennils, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish there was an update for the iPod that allowed you to use folders for playlists. Or is this already out? I'm not really sure.
- mikeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still doesn't let you add album work to a bunch of songs at the same time. You have to play each song and add the artware in one at a time because the artwork window just "Nothing Playing" and you can't add artwork even if you highlight them all.
- ThomasNewman1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to go to Apple's website to get the 5.0.1 update, now when I click 'About iTunes' under the help tab, it says version 5.0.1
- ndm007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 M3wThr33 can you explain what you mean by going to view and selecting music to get rid of podcasts from the libary. do you mean just enable search bar?? any way of iTunes always doing this.
- TigerClaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it me of the search for the podcast isn't working, Every time I type in a keyword or such, It doesn't find the podcast, For example, If you type Engadget, It's supposed to find anything associated with that word, But doesn't, I get blank results, same goes for any other.
- pinc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sweet, itunes still crashes when i load it, even with the new version.
- Donut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you check it now within iTunes 5.0, it says there is an update, and you can download it from there, OR go to the apple site and get it there. either way you go, its just gonna download the installer.
like ' vikramkr ' had said. thats why im trying to upgrade to a Nano, cause with the Mini being replaced, i worry that they wont have firmware updates for it in the future. - febryle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0We also really need a iPod firmware update so that smartplaylists update again. That drives me nuts.
- Codom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ITunes 5.0 was released too early, especially on Windows.
- Mike_G_NYC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://appldnld.m7z.net/content.info.apple.com/iTunes5/Win/061-2097.20050920.VKPwS/iTunesSetup.exe

ok digg, if (s)he's a mac user, (s)he wouldn't have known that windows wasn't updated. - hypercrypt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"podcasts should not be in the library. It makes it very messy... they should at least have a way of toggling that off."
That would be great!!! - mepcotterell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have iTunes 5.0.1.4 on Windows
- Gorbash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yet when you run the iTunes updater it says it is current.
- hasbeenhere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If you go to CHECK FOR UPDATES in iTunes it still says I have 5.0.
- tdamore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow, I didn't realize that a software patch was front page news around here...
- Doomhouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0damn i was gunna submit this story.. but i was 8 hours too slow... boourns hahaha
- triumph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just got it through software update!
- davidd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0so does this fix the problem with itunes treating podcasts as part of the libary, because that really sucked with 5.0
- dkoolaid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0apple.com now hast version 5.0.1
