- OSJunky, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5actually, it is
http://9to5mac.com/o2_out_of_iphones - tico24, on 05/10/2008, -2/+28Except it is. I just walked in to my local o2 store and was told they have "loads" in stock.
- indiekiduk, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2yeh i heard that too
- Drizzit, on 05/10/2008, -7/+1Yeah my baby sister's friends cousin's brother's dog told me they have tons. I believe it.
- acidandspatter, on 05/10/2008, -0/+7Both of Peterborough's O2 stores told me they have iPhones in stock. So did 02 in Lincoln. Buried as inaccurate.
- punkcat, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1yeah the article is *****, out of iphones means at the online stores only, not in retail.
better article on it at Ars.

- SpookyApplePie, on 05/10/2008, -2/+4It was the evil mutant killer Squidwolves who took them all away
- Millsee, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Hahahahahahahhahahahahhhhahahhahhahhahahahahhahahahahahhahhaha
- TheBigSquid, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3That would be my children. I once mated with a she-wolf.
- iziizi, on 05/10/2008, -0/+7there is the 16gb version on their website...http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphonetariffs
8gb shown as out of stock - mikephimikephi, on 05/10/2008, -4/+2Strange move.
I would have expected Apple to offer EDGE iPhones as their entry level device, and HSDPA iPhones for more tech savvy consumers. Similar to their MacBook and MacBook Pro offerings. Perhaps it will only be the case here in the U.S.?- blackjack75, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Except that it doesn't make any sense. It's cheaper to build them all the same and any crappy nokia phone has 3G nowaday. 3G is like a minimum requirement nowadays, much like having SMS support (don't get me started on MMS).
- Raian, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2What type of business advantage does apple gain by tiering access to the network. The macbook doesn't come with a 56k baud modem, and the macbook pro with ethernet.
- DelMonte, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1The Macbook pro does have built-in ethernet, you must be thinking about the Macbook air, which require an external ethernet dongle.
- Shadowgamers, on 05/10/2008, -2/+6£169 for a swiss-knife phone?
- blackjack75, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3I can guarantee you we still don't have these phones (legally) in Switzerland. Plus there's no chance you could survive alone in the forest with an iPhone as your only tool.
- Shadowgamers, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3With the iSwiss however...
- passedoutghost, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0I could with my phone. It's got gps so I can get the ***** out as fast as possible.

- warrior007, on 05/10/2008, -12/+3yesterday i had submitted by mistake http://digg.com/apple/Europeans_get_drunk_to_have_ ... in wrong topic ( Apple ) ,
but today i had submitted in correct topic have a nice day - brutalsponge, on 05/10/2008, -7/+12...and nothing of value was lost.
- CarzorStelatis, on 05/10/2008, -2/+33So what? iPhone sales in the UK (and the rest of Europe) have been rubbish - 3G coverage is ubiquitous here, and a phone without 3G isn't a proper smartphone in most people's eyes.
- snugsoho, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4Not only that but the iPhone is ridiculously expensive, for £20 p/m you can get a Nokia N95 (for free) with unlimited data, tons of call and text allowances from networks such as 3. Whereas you have to pay for the handset to get an iPhone and the tariff is absurd - add to that the fact that 02's 3G (not that it matters to the iPhone anyway) sucks as they haven't paired up with any other network like Orange, Vodafone, Virgin, 3 and T-Mobile have to ensure near blanket 3G coverage.
- Twinnie, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Don't forget about the two year contract and the crippled bluetooth.
- acidandspatter, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5Well it's not been too bad actually. According to http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/01/27/fu ... the number is about 350,000 so far, and remember in some countries its not been on sale for even 6 months yet.

- heystoopid, on 05/10/2008, -7/+1Oh no not another Iphoney story , please take it out and bury in a deep hole !
- momsshizzle, on 05/10/2008, -9/+2I guess Apple is starting to realize that the iPhone really does suck.
- bigandy, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3...however they have realised that nothing will ever suck as much (or as well) as your mother.
- kayjay, on 05/10/2008, -9/+2who gives a *****? ill pass until the iphone is as good as an ordinary windows mobile cellphone.
- bigandy, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4have you actually used it? i loved my WM6 phone, but teh iPhone (despite its faults) is far better than any of my (5+ years of) WM smartphones ever were.
- kayjay, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0no gps, no tcpmp. etc.
only basic functionality is provided. you cant install apps etc.

- WombleSlayer, on 05/10/2008, -11/+2Who really cares? It's just another overpriced Apple product which is now off the market.
- bigandy, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3it's sold out, you *****.
- dinkola, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3Its still for sale from 02. See http://shop.o2.co.uk/accessory/Apple_iPhone_16GB Labelled as being in stock.
- uzusan, on 05/10/2008, -0/+22Yeah but are they available in UK%2A or UK%2B?
- TehJoe, on 05/10/2008, -7/+2Excellent news! Maybe now my Mac-obsessed friends will shut up for a bit
- RetepNamenots, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5There are loads left; buried as inaccurate.
- stikkitjim, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3there are loads left - I got mine a few weeks ago, some stores said they haven't even shifted the first deliver they had back in November!
- ajaypathak, on 05/10/2008, -7/+2that's a real bad news for uk iphone lovers :(
http://readerszone.com/microsoft/download-security ... - cjmal, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1stop the ***** presses!
- mattosnell, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2I just got mine stolen 8gb iphone and the order has been put through for a new one (they said for tuesday) i hope i dont have to wait ages for a new one even if it is more swanky with 3g i was happy with edge (i guess) and im missing it already, will let you know if i get a new one soon!
- Binome, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2PROTIP: Nobody cares.
- ericaas, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0Well.. very bad news..
- bumblefoot, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1really?
the o2 shop up the town has some in, the carphone warehouse staff practically jumped on me trying to sell me an iphone when i went near them, and thats being "unavailable"?
they need to drop the price down another £69 or so before most people i know would even contemplate it though - hiro, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1*****, you can walk into any O2 or CW store and they have loads. Where did this idiot get his information?
- mrjeffery, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2They had plenty left in my local O2 store this afternoon. I still ended up getting an N95 8GB though - for free.
- Azimuth1, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2"Stock of both the 8GB and the 16GB Apple iPhone models, have flown off UK shelves"
Buried as inaccurate. - maddogz433, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0What this basically means is that if you don't want an iPhone, and you have one, sell it on ebay.co.uk. you can make a butt load of cash in seconds
- 8ballblack, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0If Steve Jobs is going to show the new 3g Iphone on June9th, how long after that will it hit the shelves anyways? (Serious question) Just thinking if waiting in line should be worth it?
