- FruitBoy, on 01/04/2009, -10/+19Cool. I got my macbook pro from the apple refurb store, and they sent me the wrong one. Luckily, it was a higher spec one (with a 1920x1200 screen), and so I kept it!
- shoff88, on 01/05/2009, -7/+16Not only is it MrBabySpam, it is also just a stupid story, a link to a blog about the refurb mac store...
Buried. - johnjohn71, on 01/04/2009, -10/+18buried...
- jrm125, on 01/04/2009, -6/+13Seriously...i picture this fat ***** with wires running straight from his cheeto-crumb covered body straight into his pc.
- sanderton, on 01/05/2009, -3/+10Isn't burying because it's a power user submission just as contrary to the ethos of Digg as digging because a power user shouts it?
- ddaman308, on 01/05/2009, -7/+13Bury The Baby Man!!!!!
- Braxo, on 01/05/2009, -0/+5They just keep the insides. The cheap shell and non-working parts are replaced.
They just recycle the goods parts. - MacParrot, on 01/05/2009, -3/+7Why?
- MacParrot, on 01/05/2009, -4/+8All I've bought from Apple over the last 5 years has been refurbs. It's a great way to pick up a Mac much cheaper than retail
- sassypoch, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3I understand that powerusers suck but I read and enjoyed this article without looking at who submitted it (like I do every day). I saved 80 bucks buying my 16gb iPod touch refurbished from the Apple site. It's an awesome deal. It's good that more people can find out about this.
- santaliqueur, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3A Mac Pro is cheaper than its alternatives. Some of us use our Macs for real work.

- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3Bury the power whiners.
Looking at your comment history your only purpose here is to complain about submissions. Go back to Reddit. - ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -2/+4Funny how Digg hates on the "power users" for mindlessly digging so many stories regardless of the content, yet is happy to mindlessly bury them, even if they are interesting articles.
Digging and burying should be based on CONTENT, anything else, regardless of your reasoning, just goes against how Digg is supposed to work. And frankly, it's a little immature to throw such a fit over something so insignificant. - GraemeNorway, on 01/04/2009, -0/+2The problem with that is that you can only remove scratches on the front, not the chrome back...
- javaroast, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1Instead of whining about this issue you should be working on the quality of your site. Somehow you've managed to get on the submission train and after reading a few articles it definitely isn't about "quality content."
- airwalkery2k, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1This is in the UK.
- Geek180, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1I bought a refurbished Macbook Pro and it took several trips to the Apple Store and about $1500 worth of repairs to get it working 100% properly. I don't think I'll ever buy refurb again.
- xjosephko, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1I don't think this applies towards refurb iPhones. My gf has had 4 refurb'd 1st gen iPhone and all of them (even the current one) freezes and require a hard reset to get the phone working again. I bought mine new and it hasn't had any problems like that (with a year of abuse its been taking).
- Chongo, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1I have had great experiences with refurb macs. The only thing I can suggest is to give the device a thorough inspection the second you get it and return it if there are any dents or scratches on the corners. I have read horror stories where someone brings the new refurb in to get fixed and the apple store refuses because they think you dropped it.
- satori3000, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1when you buy a refurb you buy someone else's problems. I realize some are fine, but many fail, and isn't that way people buy apple in the first place, to try and avoid the failure of PCs?
- clickmyface, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1refurb-store is not affiliated with apple in any way. It is a middle man trying to make money out of nothing. Contrary to what this article states, Apple has had a refurbished and clearance section for old products on their page for around a decade. Bottom left of the main apple store page.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals ... - leontes, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1Anyone who buys a refurb without applecare would also go sledding without a sled.
- Macintoshreader, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1***** MrBabyMan. ***** article.
Also, buried. - kooredaan, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1FTA: ".....in fact, I just did – sell a six-year-old laptop for close to $400."
Hmmmm. . . . Seems like that is what happens when hardware stays relatively the same in a non-free market of the Apple world. - Geek180, on 01/05/2009, -1/+2Are you eight?
- raydeen, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1Oh yes, let's worry about how it looks, not how it performs. Looks mean everything.
- MacParrot, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1The article doesn't state that this is a brand new thing, just that it used to just be one day a week. What are you getting so worked up about? There are probably lots of people who don't know about the refurb store or how it works
- j.carcinogen, on 01/05/2009, -1/+1OSx86
- clickmyface, on 01/05/2009, -2/+2why? because its complete *****.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals ...
Apple has had their own refurbished section on their site for YEARS AND YEARS. This article is flat out lying.
Buried. - joshuaer, on 01/05/2009, -3/+3"the refurb store was only open on wednesdays for a long time" when was this every Mac i have was purchased from the apple online store refurb section including my ibookg3 yes i still have it, G4 tower. G5 Tower, Macbook 16 itouch, and Macpro. Never one time in the last 10 years of user the apple store has it ever been open only on Wednesday. I can check my order dates on Monday when i get to work but i do not ever recall waiting to buy them because the store was closed.
- RedS0x, on 01/04/2009, -2/+1Haha, that's actually pretty cool.
- andrewpmk, on 01/05/2009, -3/+2Just buy a new PC! A refurbished Mac costs just as much and is no different (other than Mac OS X).
- nonstop87, on 01/05/2009, -2/+1Well then he is counteracting at least one person who did that, and I'm assuming at least one person did that.
- gfxlonghorn, on 01/05/2009, -2/+1This is useless knowledge, everyone here already knows about this *****.
- TokenBlack, on 01/05/2009, -3/+1MrsBabyMan
Get it? He's a woman! - chrissku, on 01/05/2009, -4/+2Mrbabyspam
- Landonr, on 01/04/2009, -3/+1I got a refurbished 80gb ipod classic from apple and it seems that they repolish them and clean them up so they look good as new.
- adamb10, on 01/05/2009, -4/+1Buried for a power user.
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -5/+2***** THE HATERS
- Leo21k, on 01/04/2009, -8/+3I dont worry that refurbished items may break easily, I worry that they'll be badly scratched.
- RudeTurnip, on 01/04/2009, -9/+4I saved $500 getting my MB Pro as a refurb from Apple. The model had only come out a month or two earlier, so it was basically brand new.
- javaroast, on 01/04/2009, -7/+2Stop the Techradar insanity!!!!
- RoroCo, on 01/04/2009, -11/+4Good luck claiming anything under warranty. "Sorry sir, but that is not the computer you bought from us."
