- mianos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's interesting in that it highlights some of the differences between OS/X and a common Linux/Unix system. Many things are common.
- selphishnerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4wow thats intense. more than i was expecting.
- ciphex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3excellent read.
- JNitz36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now I need to see if my roomate will bring his osX laptop to the apartment so I can tinker with it. I read osX was based on bsd, and I never bothered to find out how they actually differed. For a while there, i was ready to give up due to a large amount of articles on the same old topics, but this is a great read. And at the tail of the article it lists a few resources for more info. Although some are just man pages, at least now I know what man pages to read when I get the opportunity.
- codemac, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Well organized article.
- iopred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Did anyone else notice that the magic number was 0xfeedface?
That is unbeleivably awesome. - juandesant, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Indeed, CFM support is deprecated for Intel applications. The only CFM applications which can be executed on Mac OS X are PowerPC ones.
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3nicely written.. digg because i was always curious about this
- omnivector, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1jar files have the magic number 0xcafebabe
- sdfisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All Mac OS X applications use Mach-O? No. Looks like it's been corrected in the article already, though.
Does anyone know if Mac OS X/Intel supports CFM for native executables? It doesn't seem like there'd be any point. - nayr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool. Always wondered about that, +digg.
Guy needs new colors, though! - a7bat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I really like the OS X manner of executing applications. Klik is a similar method of application installs on Linux systems. It's still in its infancy, but it needs more support from the community.
Have a look: http://klik.atekon.de - brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, you see, that's the title of the article. As far a Slashdot...so? I didn't even know it was there. My friend linked me directly to the blog.
- Huwawa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I like ELF better, but still a nice article.
- MacMixMaster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I'm not diggin' the lime green color; however, the article is nicely written.
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0No digg. Direct title and link rip from /.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+7This is why Apple will take over Windows!
