- Azohko, on 07/14/2008, -2/+41Banana Phone!
- rocke86, on 07/14/2008, -3/+38They're not bugs they're features. Just for early adopters.
- Coded1, on 07/14/2008, -1/+35rocke86: We are from Apple's marketing department and were wondering if you would consider employment with us ....
- pinab, on 07/14/2008, -4/+31Early adopters need to expect these kinds of issues. It's no secret that Apple's Rev. A products are often riddled with bugs.
- jpaolini, on 07/14/2008, -1/+24Ding dong ding dong ding dong ding!
- Nothlit, on 07/14/2008, -1/+23Except that this is not "Rev. A" for the iPhone.
- Zippo, on 07/14/2008, -1/+22It grows in bunches
I've got my hunches
It's the best, beats the rest!
Cellular, Modular, Interactive odular! - ISurfTooMuch, on 07/14/2008, -2/+22Banana Phone!
- DivisibleByZero, on 07/14/2008, -2/+21This report is pretty speculative.
"Some iPhone users have reported that the hidden firmware changes the screen hue, fixes app crashes, and washes your car!" - hagfish70, on 07/14/2008, -0/+14You ok, man? Take a deep breath.
- timusca, on 07/14/2008, -3/+16Are those used for blue teeth?
/bad joke - Phipman, on 07/14/2008, -2/+14He's just angry because no one came to his 11th birthday party last week.
- championchap, on 07/14/2008, -0/+12So he's meant to carry both around when one should be able to do the job?
- Azohko, on 07/14/2008, -1/+12Another case of Internet Win
- optimo, on 07/14/2008, -0/+10I'm not your buddy, friend
- Nothlit, on 07/14/2008, -0/+95A345 is the firmware that comes installed on a fresh-out-of-the-box iPhone 3G.
- Rumdizzled, on 07/14/2008, -8/+17Not surprised that Applefans are so anal about this.
- Pyromite78, on 07/14/2008, -0/+8He said "anal".
XD - phoomp, on 07/14/2008, -1/+9If Steve says that pee-coloured displays are the best, who are we to question?
- pixas, on 07/14/2008, -8/+15I digg this. But the white point temperature is not the only thing that bothers me. Compared to the first iPhone and the iPod touch, the 3G screen is so maxed out in contast and saturation, it's not even funny. I used my iPod Touch as a simple mobile portfolio, the iPhone display is simply to screwd up to do that anymore.
- wTheOnew, on 07/14/2008, -4/+11You don't need to include his name if you're replying to him. At least you used the reply button which is more then some people can manage.
- shutaro, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6Nope, everyone else's teeth are too blue.
- diggymow, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6There are two versions of 5A347. One with a 1,2 prefix for 3G phones and one with a 1,1 prefix for EDGE phones.
- nicc, on 07/14/2008, -1/+7the 1,2 prefix works perfectly on my Edge iPhone
- jroussell, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6i'm not your friend, guy
- sickb13, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6Apple is too pussy to admit they have problems. At least Microsoft doesn't try to slide their fixes under the radar. The absolutely pathetic part is that somewhere, some Apple diehard is arguing with someone, denying the fact that update ever happened and that the iPhone 3G is the greatest cellphone to come out, ever, and that Apple engineers are so smart that it's impossible that there were problems; there were features that Steve Jobs hadn't explained to the infidels yet.
- MacParrot, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6You misunderstand the reference. The "lead" he's talking about are all the paint chips he ate as a kid leading him to comment incessently about products he thinks he doesn't care about.
It all makes sense now. - bpapa, on 07/14/2008, -3/+8"It's no secret that Apple's Rev. A products are often riddled with bugs."
you make it sound like it's an Apple problem. Most software and hardware companies have these problems. Software dev is not simple. - Stoyanov, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6lead != led
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4On mine too.
- championchap, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5He has buttocks where his face should be.
/ignoring the obvious - MxM111, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4wTheOnew: You think Apple's marketing department knows that?
- nbcaffeine, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4yeah, that would kinda suck. My touch has just sat on the desk since i got my phone. Luckily my phone either doesn't have or I don't notice the yellow.
- etx313, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4I'm not a guy, buddy.
- DD00, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Ah gotcha.
- JKVM, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4You're completely right. The problem is, that's not true on every phone. My wife has a white 3G, and it looks great. Slightly warmer than the 2G iPhone, but it looks good.
My black 16GB 3G on the other hand is yellower/greener than hers, more saturated, with much higher contrast. It looks horrible, although it does make video "pop" a bit more.
If these two different 3G iPhones have different white points, saturation levels, and contrast levels, one of them is defective. I'm just hoping the defective one is the oversaturated phone with the contrast maxed, and not the one that looks good... - masterc, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4http://www.instantrimshot.com/
- SPECOPS, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4If xxx57 a beta version, why is it when you perform a restore, it's not using the release version xxx55?
It's "hidden", but any normal non-geeky user who wants to "clear" their phone, will get the beta version via this method... doesn't make sense that it's a beta. - DD00, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3You'd really have to look at it next to an old phone or your touch to see it. The screen doesn't actually look yellow, just more so than the old versions.
- AdibT, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring...
- nsheikh80, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Didn't work for me.
- lickmyback, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3If people weren't lame enough to wait in line for 3 days just to purchase a phone, then a slight yellow hue to the screen might not seem like such a big deal.
- clamhead, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3brilliant post filed under "no sh*t"
- jpaolini, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Banana Phone!
- etx313, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3Hand Banana hammock phone.
- srodolff, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2The most glaring statistic was that 38% of buyers were upgrading from an existing iPhone.
That sucking sound you hear is all the money that Apple stole from the fanboys pockets. - Pyromite78, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2iPhone 2g was buggier than all hell so it doesn't surprise me that Apple would release another even buggier version. Mine got to a point where the screen locked up ALL the time. I couldn't answer calls that came in at all. I had to send them to vm then call them back. I eventually gave it away and traded up for a BlackJack II
