- shakabrah, on 11/15/2008, -0/+43shazam does NOT identify songs hummed by your friend.
- zendegany, on 11/15/2008, -1/+27Good list. I'm lost without Shazam
- alphabetagaga, on 11/15/2008, -1/+21Byline if you use Google Reader, Twitterific if you Twitter, AirMe for loading up pictures straight to Flickr, Wikipanion for iPhone formatted Wikipedia, Aurora Feint, Now Playing for finding movie show times and info near you, LuxTouch for Risk. Those are the best from what I've gotten.
- Galaxylander, on 11/15/2008, -0/+13Midomi, not Midori, why does everyone call it that...?
- hopenobodyknows, on 11/15/2008, -2/+11winterboard and pda net are missing for some reason
- coldfusion1970, on 11/15/2008, -0/+7Then you've clicked the wrong link.
- nikki2300dk, on 11/15/2008, -1/+7Awesome!
- AngelX, on 11/15/2008, -3/+9Paying for things?! Get with the times, my friend.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -6/+12One word: Mazefinger. Just trust me.
- alphabetagaga, on 11/15/2008, -0/+5I ar stoopid :/
- mucko, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4Now Playing for movie showtimes/reviews and DVD release schedule.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/15/2008, -1/+5Don't forget backgrounder. Makes the normal apps a lot more useful! Well, when they work well with it at least.
- Invid, on 11/16/2008, -0/+4You're doing it wrong. I have over 50 apps on my phone with no slowdown or crashing (aside from Safari - get on the ball Apple!).
Do a restore, set up as a new phone and resync. That should clear up your problems. - Moosejoose, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4This list should have Jaadu VNC instead of VNC lite. Jaadu can connect to your computer over the internet, so you can work your computer from anywhere with cell phone signal.
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4b/c midori is alcoholic and delicious
- jakatak, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3I dig on "Say Who" which allows me to voice dial people. Not just by name, but by which number. For example, I say "Call John Smith mobile" and it will dial John's cell number instead of his house. It's never failed me yet.
- cerealjynx, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Seriously! Where's the NES and Genesis emulators?
- alphabetagaga, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Isn't that one Midori then?
- ElAmo, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3WeDict: free dictionary stored locally (no network needed), with good definitions.
Stanza: eBook reader with many free classics to download.
FireMail: Widescreen typing for email or notes.
WikiAmo: Free Wikipedia app that saves every article you view.
iTranslate: Uses Google Translate to translate any languages. Easier to use than the online service.
Cuberunner: Awesome 3D game to show off the motion sensing.
Labyrinth: Another fun motion tilt game (get the LE free version). - alphabetagaga, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4I think it's the Skype over WiFi option which sets Fring above Palringo in their list. I personally just use the regular old AIM app, since that accomplishes a lot of what I want to do anyway.
- Jambi, on 11/15/2008, -2/+5I'd like to add Stanza to the list...best ebook app out there. (free)
http://www.lexcycle.com/ - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -3/+6#21: I AM RICH
- benitojuarez, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4I was distracted by something shiny.
- enntee, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4No Beejive?! I know it's $16, but it's an awesome IM app.
- HigherLogic, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2Read the instructions, you have to get drunk first.
- darkciti2, on 11/15/2008, -1/+3Clearly. A snowboarding snowfall app as essential?
How about TipTap for dinner tip calculation?
Or a measurement converter like Units Convertor?
Or Flashlight (for SOS distress signal)?
Or Beer Counter (for keeping count of anything)? - DelMonte, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Byline can automatically download and store web pages linked by RSS items (complete with images and everything).
This is a great feature, especially on an iPod touch, or if you have an iPhone without a data-plan (or a limited one like in some countries). It enables you to do some off-line browsing which is nearly impossible with mobile Safari, since it will erase cached pages when running out of memory. - 1nhuman, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Agree. One error in their comments though, you can't hum songs too Shazam. Well you can, but it won't recognise it.
- traxen, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Agreed. Beejive is awesome. Found Jaadu and Beejive on the same day and said WTF! .. and then ok.. and I'm happy now :)
- DefaultGen, on 11/16/2008, -1/+3Dugg up for posting a non-reply comment as a response to a highly dugg, early one so people would read your comment.
- kupa, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2can't wait until they give us the ability to batch upload books to the device, the app is just amazing though, and getting better. horizontal cover flipping ftw!
- AngelX, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2I'm addicted to CubeRunner
- handler, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Simplify Media is the best app I've ever used, I just discovered it...wow!!!
- cknyan, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Good list, except for Pageonce Personal Assistant. It keeps your personal information on their servers; passwords, etc. Never trust apps like these in the first year.
They could have bumped the list to 25 with great apps like Acculfuel, DSL Reports Speedtest, Units, GraphCalc, and Quickvoice. - omarciddo, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Mazefinger isn't as fun as it looks.
- badtzmartin, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1I think Evernote was a glaring omission.
- TimeIsTissue, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1the app i use, which serves the same purpose of shazaam, has that feature. i think its definitely better than shazaam. its called "midomi"
- Zybergod, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1I liked Pano.
- ElAmo, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1don't leave lots of apps running. many (like safari), will safe stuff when you quit, and it probably fills up the memory.
- Araya213, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Wow, yeah that is a great app! Sharing 18,000 mp3s on it now!
- Invid, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Movies is a different, inferior program.
- traxen, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1I recently bought Jaadu and it's a very solid app. Lite VNC gets you inside the computer you want.. but other than that.. it's more of a struggle. With Jaadu it translates into flying ;)
I have no trouble clicking what I want or using complicated keyboard combinations. Quick macros are also availible depending if you access a Win/Mac machine.
The price can scare you off .. but it is the best VNC for iPhone out there. If you have a need to vnc, do not skip this one.
P.S Combine this with SSH tunneling and you can reach a whole office with ease :) - groundlevel1, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Can't find that one. Is that unlocked only?
- jakerudy7, on 11/16/2008, -1/+2correction Wikiamo for Wikipedia
- ElAmo, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1FYI, the IM+ lite does widescreen IM and all the same IM clients. I really don't see why someone would pay $16 for Beejive.
- pigducksheep, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1I have pandora, shazam, and bloom out of that list... ill have to clean out some unused apps and get some of those "essentials"
Also i think the number one must have app is fieldrunners. The best iphone game. - funnygreen, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1routsey is the best in sf!
