Rumors, rumors and more rumors. Last time I got caught up with hype there was only a new version of itunes and a slightly bigger video iPod. - Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -6/+36They do have a Rumor category, its called the Apple category.
- marix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Im sure it was a well informed exec from the apple rumors forum right?
I hate these stupid speculation topics. Totally worthless but dugg to the top due to apple and ipod in the title. good game. :-/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25DANCE PUPPETS DANCE!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Mmmm . . . waffles.
- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15This is just a reiteration of the trustedreviews sham. Buried as inaccurate.
- Scott2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"If it's a rumor, then what is the patent for?"
Many companies own patents that aren't in use, or are planned for later development. - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Many would call me an Apple fanboy. Do I want this to be true? Hell yeah. But I'm not even digging it, because it's a completely worthless article.
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13And this one cooks waffles, butters them and adds syrup!
More damn rumors, speculation and crap. Still believe it when I see it and not before. Move along... - birch25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9it happens to the best of us. you are buying technology, though, and you should know by now you're not gonna be top of the line for long, no matter what you buy.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Apple iPod is the new purple monkey dishwasher
- asteron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10There is *NO SUCH THING* as a confirmation by an anonymous source. Anyone can be anonymous but it takes an authority to confirm. Saying an anonymous source confirms something is BS.
Bury this as INACCURATE. - darksheer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6ugh...forget the year of HD--this is the "year of iPod rumors"
- gabeN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I already bought one... I'm calling my friend Shens on it right now...
- CoSMoSYS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Agreed.
How much time until there's a 'Rumor' category on Digg? - mpancha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7b/c then you can hook it up to your Nikes and it'll tell you how fat you are getting as well.
iPod + iPhone + iShoe.... the trifecta is complete - perryge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Extremely well-informed and soon-to-be unemployed...
- MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You know what instills confidence in a report?
"This Account Has Been Suspended" - AugustZephyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't know if this is true (its only the gazillionth article on a full screen ipod), but if they build it I will come [and buy one]. Who's with me ?!?
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Again, this article's true title should read:
"Full-screen iPod, iPhone Rumored by 'Extremely Well-Informed' Apple Store Employee :) - jjesusfreak01, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14http://www.duggmirror.com
- zapatar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- halik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Lame and tagged as such. Well connected apple executives always leak new products...oh wait.
- markgl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is probably the 1000th article on a full screen iPod. Now since there have be a trillion articles on this. I'd say if apple didn't make a full screen iPod, they'd be branded as fools for not doing it. The more people expect something should happen, more likely it will happen.
So in saying that, I can't wait for a full screen iPod to come and it will, or else Apple will hear from everyone in the world about not having a full screen iPod. - ChristianD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Amen to that Brother! The very word Apple brings joy to the masses.
- dan0368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well seeing as he's "extremely" well-informed, I'll take this as fact...
- shadownight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Right, an well-informed Apple exec would surely go to a random site and say "The rumors are true! Full-screen iPod and iPhone". This is so very lame. Let me create a blog and state stupid things, and I bet I could get on the front page. Bury this, for Gosh's sake!
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6People will never take Digg seriously as long as crap like this is allowed to hit the front page.
Kevin REALLY needs to add an "Apple Rumors" catagory, so I can filter out this garbage. - spyder91, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Here's an actual example of a patent that may or may not ever actually be produced:
http://news.com.com/Microsoft+patents+body+power/2100-1014_3-5244766.html - cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2apple would have to be freakin crazy not to release something that looks as good as the widescreen ipod and iphone. i would buy both of them. as for battery life. ill just wait and see. if it comes out like this great if not. o well.
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Jesus, this even uses the same images from the last blog that made the EXACT SAME CLAIM.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Digg should block every apple rumor site as SPAM. It used to be cute, it used to be entertaining, now it's just plain annoying. - mkoby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is like the 3rd "Confirmation" in as many weeks. I think everyone has pretty much reached the point of "I'll believe it when I see it".
- TomFrost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is when your comment is inherently flawed :)
People at apple are smarter than the run-of-the-mill digg fanboy. I'm probably going to get dugg down to hell for this, but serious ya'll, think about this concept. A device that consists of one screen. The only control for this unit is touching the screen. You watch movies on this device. So after a month or two of deliberately wiping hand oils across the unit, you're supposed to be able to sit back and watch a move? Smeared screen, all those extra colors you get when oils are left on a screen... Yeah, no thanks. - hexydes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's just the way it goes. When I got my G4 iPod, everyone was amazed by the capacity and the control interface (all scroll wheel). Then the color iPod came out and that was a big deal. Then the video iPod. Now (potentially) the *true* video iPod. Tomorrow, it will be something else.
At some point, the best thing to do is assess your needs, buy into something at the best deal you can, and be happy with it. I love my G4 iPod; it plays music on my long commute to work. Would it be neat if it played video? Sure. My brother and my brother-in-law both have iPod videos, and they're cool. However, now they are stuck with that for a year or two until they can afford to move on, whereas I have had my non-video G4 iPod for a while now, and can get the new iPod if I so desire.
Technology is cyclical. If you have the latest and greatest thing now, you probably won't be able to be in that same position in a year (unless you're uber-rich, in which case, good on ya then). In two years, the people that had cooler stuff than you won't, and you probably will. That's just how it goes. Like I said, assess your needs, get something, and just be happy with it until you're ready to move on. - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"If it's a rumor, then what is the patent for?"
Apple doesn't want that Japanese company that made the iBob trying to legally sell full-touchscreen versions in the US :D - Feanor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This isn't like VHS/beta, because you can still play non-DRM'd stuff. Just rip all your stuff to something other than AAC or WMA.
- shaunrhussey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this story has been around almost word-for-word on some other site...the only difference was that the informer in the other story worked for an iPod accesory company not Apple.
- MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This is probably the 1000th article on a full screen iPod. Now since there have be a trillion articles on this. I'd say if apple didn't make a full screen iPod, they'd be branded as fools for not doing it. The more people expect something should happen, more likely it will happen."
Uh....yeah. Except the people clamoring for it have little notion as to the actual technical issues involved, nor the market for selling it, etc. Rule #1 of marketing may be 'listen to the customer,' but rule number 2 is 'don't *always* listen to the customer.'
As for that last part...if it were true, the Mini would have a TV tuner by now. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yo, can we call a MORATORIUM on the word "confirmed" when used in a Digg headline referring to anything Apple while written by a person younger than the age of 13?
Just a thought. - iAlex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thought Hostgator could handle it. Bad Bad.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wouldn't want a full/touch-screen ipod. Fingerprints would get everywhere, as well as scratches. I think Apple is betting that people will get iTV and not use their iPods so much to watch content.
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iPhone and WS iPod rumors are getting to the point where they require their own category on digg.
- r3zonance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, cos an Apple Exec is really going to jeopardise theirnice well paid job for a rumour.
Less Execs than there are employees, so they'd be easier to root out. - daGUY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not buying this one. I do believe that a new iPod will be coming out in time for Christmas (it's due for a major refresh and that's the best opportunity), but I'm reluctant to believe any of what this article says because they also claim that the iPhone will work with an iTunes subscription service. Jobs is known to be vehemently opposed to any subscription models (at least for music, since you can "subscribe" to TV shows), and I don't see why his position would change just because of the iPhone. There already ARE phones with iTunes (RAZR, etc.) and no subscription service was introduced with them.
Also, the full screen interface leaves a lot of unanswered questions and possible problems. How do you prevent the display from wearing down? How do you use the player without looking at it? One of the reasons why Apple ditched the all-touch interface of the 3rd gen iPod in favor of the click wheel for the 4th gen was because people preferred tactile feedback. It would seem odd for them to revert back from that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One thing i can say, apple will meet the consumer demand, iphone would sell alot, even if it wasnt that great, so it would be worth it for them to create it. Apple finds a demand , and fills it
- jomolungma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All of my stuff is ripped to FLAC, which can't be played by half of these players anyway. And why should I have to buy from iTunes or [OTHER] and then burn them to a CD and re-rip them into FLAC just so I can get cross-platform capabilities?
- P5ycHo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Waar rook is, is vuur .....
- chrism1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish I knew someone that I hated at Apple. (other than Jobbs) Then, I could put up B.S. rumors (like this one) that allegedly came from their department.
It would be so cool to see thier head on a stick in front of the Apple headquarters.
Oh, by the way When you are at the apple store paying for the "i-Phony" let me know. - moondog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think its kinda funny how the ouput of the supposed new video ipod is 480p and the Wii output is also 480p...mobile wii anyone? Just pack a large extension cable.
