- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+46I've just tried this and it works with ALL of my iPod formatted videos. It even loves to stream my podcasts too.
- Blizaine, on 10/11/2007, -5/+38now if the folks that release torrent TV shows in 720p X264 format, would change to standard 720p H.264 we would be all set.
I don't really understand why they would use X264 when there is no visual or size benefit over H.264... If they would start encoding with standard H.264, then people could watch the content on AppleTV's, 360's, and PS3's. - thejokell, on 10/11/2007, -9/+35OPTION - Shift - K
;-) - shadownight, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Great news. It's great Microsoft finally allowed QuickTime video, and that Nullriver stepped up and updated Connect360.
- hyperfocal, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19This will work with the xbox360 core system, which costs exactly the same as an appleTV.
- Darcy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17What's ironic about that?
- invinciblechunk, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Yes, forget Klingon TV. Just type it out, the way sites like Wired do: "Apple". Why? Because THE APPLE SYMBOL IS NOT OFFICIAL UNICODE.
- Buschaga, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Yes, it works with my non-iTunes Store videos as well. Beautiful! I've long been a fan of Connect360 and this free upgrade makes me glad I bought it.
It's so nice to have all your iTunes playlists ready to accompany you during some Burnout or PGR 3. - vapblack, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17No, TV
- Nitro420, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14nullriver told me in an email the next version will transcode xvid and divx on the fly for use with connect360
- lithuin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14@gsnedders
Pffft!!!!! How about YOU get better Unicode characters!
Yeah... That's what I thought... PUNK! - MegaSilver, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Why does it always show up as "?tv" to me?
- ct2000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Getting a lot of 69-04-C00D36C4 - unable to play content messages - oddly if I burn the same content to disk it plays fine...
- MasteRR, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17Euro TV?
Stop using the damn Apple symbol. It doesn't show up on other systems. - padrien, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12My H.264 videos play for 30 seconds and then freeze up or crash my 360 using this program, anyone else experiencing the same thing? Anyone know a workaround?
- pathy, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19Did you leave off 'Jobs' from the end of that post?
- pseudo.hero, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13@Gee4orce
They are the same price and if you go with the 360 you also get a game system. - wang1011, on 10/11/2007, -13/+22Blasted! I got excited but it's only for macs =(
- scruffles, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Unless you are overriding you're fonts at the browser, you're using Arial -- the digg css specifies it specifically. Arial doesn't have the apple Unicode character. Safari recognizes that and replaces the font for that character. Firefox (even on the mac) doesn't. To tell people use choose a new font to properly view a website that specifically sets the font is kind of ignorant.
- noogiewoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10no, but there's XBMC for the old xbox, Assuming your xbox 1 is modified you'll be able to run that.
It'll struggle playing 720p+ content though, as the cpu isnt fast enough to decode most formats properly - Darcy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8You can't expect it to play protected content.
- ezikiel2517, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8...and cables
- trogdor282, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16It's a 'reserved' character that OEMs can use for whatever. Here on linux it looks like three lines. Please stop using it on digg.
- FritzsCorner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I am personally streaming my videos to the 360 through a WinXP session in parallels using the Zune software. The videos include the DVD cover art I applied using iTunes and don't stutter or skip a beat. I know this isn't an ideal solution for everyone especially those with PPC macs but for me it is way better than connect 360. I tried the 3.0 demo and I also had the problem of video stopping after 30-40 seconds. Connect 360 also doesn't support a folder structure (not that I know of at least) and will only display all your videos in one giant list so you can't easily organize them by Movie, TV Show, etc.. If you currently have your videos in different folders like most people probably do the only way I found connect 360 was able to stream all of these was by creating aliases for every video and put them in one folder. Another minor complaint is that connect 360 doesn't support video cover art but like I said this is just a minor complaint and not a big deal to most people. Don't get me wrong, I love connect 360 for it's music and photo sharing abilities, but for me personally the video sharing feature is just a little lacking right now. I have no doubt that these problems will be addressed and at that time I will spend $20 and buy a copy.
- xboxing, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I dugg it, although the streaming of my MPEG-4 movies wouldn't work. They work fine if I burn them to disc and play them directly on the 360, but the same exact files will not stream over my network using Connect360 v3.0. I put a note in to the developer and they were prompt in giving me this response:
"its cus its a bastard
were looking into it though :D
if we find a fix we'll put it up an update on our website/rss" - lunarworks, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Which makes you wonder why the Klingon symbol is...
- YaDontWannaKnow, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Will someone please finally explain how to write that apple logo symbol?
- eth3l, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Your wife's computer sucks. I have installed it on laptops and towers (homebuilt and Dell's) with no problems.
- ambientsound, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6The same situation occurs for me as well, and it seems to apply to any Quicktime format. The movie either freezes after partial playback or brings up an error code of 69-04-C00D36C4. I thought the problem might be that I was watching podcasts downloaded through iTunes, but downloading the same podcasts from other sources yielded the same results.
Among the podcasts I've tried are Macbreak, Cranky Geeks, Tiki Bar TV, the 1up show, and various large and small sized revision3 podcasts. I find it hard to believe that all of these files are incompatible. Does this sound like the same situation for the rest of you? - steevo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5no Divx or Xvid only MPEG 4 Video in mp4 or mov containers
full details here http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/2007/05/09/spring-07-video-playback-faq.aspx - halohunter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Do DivX/Xvid files work?
- NoodlePants, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Yes this is happening to me. I emailed Nullriver support and they are looking into it. They say the program is being picky about what it can play.
- lithuin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9EuroTV? I get question-mark TV, I guess as in "Why buy this thing TV?"
ZING! Kidding... kidding... - theonlyvlad, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10I assume that this doesn't work for any bought iTunes store movies/shows. That would be the crux of this issue, and Apple (sorry don't have the fancy key for it) TVs biggest selling point.
- toxicityj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7it only works with macs, right? or am I reading the page wrong?
- toxicityj, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8you must suck with computers then. I've been running Vista problem free for months. but like you said. this is xbox discussion.
- moose_diggs, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8guess what.... most people dont have their computer anywhere near the TV.. dumbass
- muzzymate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Is there any suggestions for streaming TV shows? While it works, it simply lists the name of the episode alphabetically (no show information or sorting) with all the other movies. Is it possible to have nested folders through this sharing method (either in the Zune, WMP11, or Connect360 software)? If so, I'd love to see that in 3.0.1 update.
- markdr123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It's always been a black rectangle with a white crown and '04' for me.
Weird... - elv1s77, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I watch Divx on my xbox360 all the time. http://runtime360.com/
- PueSi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4He as referring to the original Box, ass.
- rtilford, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4this happens to be fine if you want a jet engine running!
- liuping, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4no cover art. videos are list alphabetically, not by series, episode, or anything else. it sort of works but it is an unpleasant experience at best.
Slideshows are horable too, the cross fade suck, you have to pick a sone in one set of menus, then go over and pick a folder to play pictures from.
AppleTV is a much more pleasant experience. especially if you made slide shows in iPhoto, as it will use your music and ken burns settings during the slide show. - Nitro420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I have the same issue. All of my encodes from ffmpegx work great but my encodes from handbrake don't stream. The weird thing is that if I put my handbrake encodes on a thumb drive and use that in the xbox360 they work perfectly.
- fbogner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Don't forget iTunes Store Files are DRM protected and not supported
- EricJD, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Question Mark TV... hmm..
- rick, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Works beautifully.
- adrenaline33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Don't forget that everyone on here pirates their videos
- Boofster, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5So is there a Windows version or what?
- FritzsCorner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The new version of Handbrake has an Apple TV preset that works great on the xbox 360. I have over 50+ of my personal DVD's encoded using this format.
