I own two myself. iPods are cool and trendy, but I didn't feel like as much of a fanboy with just one. So I got two! Maybe jobs will visit me tonight like the toothfairy!
[Apple Fanboy 2]
I've never had a iPod or Apple product break. I own 8 and owning what is obviously a better product makes us better and richer than those winbloze luzers.

some people must, and their the same idiots digging this lameass story - Darc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have purchased 5 in all myself. 3 were for me. 2 were gifts.
1) 20 GB 4G (Black/White).
My first iPod -- the day my life changed forever. Sold it to my friend and bought...
2) 60 GB 4G (iPod Photo).
I had this iPod for exactly 14 days. Then I returned it to the apple store and bought...
3) 60 GB 5G (iPod Video).
I. Love. This. iPod. (Although fullscreen FTW).
4) 30 GB 5g (iPod Video).
I bought this for my sister's 30th birthday! She loved mine. So I bought her one. 2006.
5) 30 GB 5g (iPod Video).
I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loved mine. So I bought her one. 2006.
If they do the full screen video one, you better believe I'll spring for it!
BTW. I don't *really* care if you digg me down for my iPod history / life story. This is a multiple iPod story. People explaining how they have or have had multiple iPods just support the story. So lets quit digging them down. Isn't that what comments are for? K thx. - nirvaerozep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I hear if you get only one more iPod, you'll be less of a prick.
- bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6stark,do you want a medal now?
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Press menu and center button for 5 seconds. It'll reboot. You don't have to wait for the battery to run down.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why do I care which iPods this guy has? Honestly, so what?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always stuck w/ one ipod but since I started running, I figured running with a harddrive in my hand isn't all that sensible so I got a new Shuffle for xmas. I'm sure it'll last and it just seems perfect for running.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i smell apple advert on msn.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2slow news day.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nope. No broken link fixer. Just delete the songs from your library and readd them by dragging the folder from the disk to the word "library" (used to be an icon).
I've found that many people, like yourself, have a lot of problems with iTunes because they fight it. If you let it organize your music for you, you won't see broken link icons. If you want to delete a song, delete it in iTunes and answer yes when it asks to delete the on one disk.
I've found that people without preconceived usage models, like my parents, have even fewer problems with iTunes than young people, who ask "why can't it can my torrents folder" and stuff like that.
It's a good program. It's not perfect. I personally greatly prefer it to MusicMatch and Winamp.
And although a few things get better when buying off iTMS, none of the stuff you mentioned does. And you'd have to deal with DRM. So I'd recommend against it. - Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Im just digging this up so people can read the hilarious responses people are telling to the ones who try to "show off" how many different iPods they own
- mastersquirrel3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"But his larger video iPod — while too bulky for everyday use"
WTF too big, god dam did this person ever see a 1rd generation ipod. - operator99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hmmmm...I mean I think its about the music that is on them...not how many you have...
- PhillyMJS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't get my 3G 30GB engraved, and I kept the box and accessories pristine with the thought of selling it in the future when I upgraded-- like the article says. But when I actually got my 5.5G back in October, I decided to keep the 3G and just leave it in my car connected to the stereo. It comes in once in a while to sync, but that's it.
I gave two nanos as gifts this year, so one of my friends likewise now has a second iPod-- she needed the nano to use the Nike+iPod kit I also got her, since it wouldn't have worked with her existing 4G.
~Philly - jayleb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gotta love Winamp..
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2he needs one everywhere he goes... isn't the ipod portable? wouldn't one suffice?
- hottKarl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2omfg.
Lame. But worth a bury. - jpaolini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WinAmp. Use it, love it.
Seriously though, I think WinAmp (with the iPod plugin) offers far more options and is much easier to use than iTunes. I've used WinAmp since the early days, so I'm used to its interface. When I first got my 80GB Video and installed iTunes, it was a bitch to use and just didn't work smoothly. No such problems with WinAmp, and more options to play with.
And no, buying music off iTunes Music Store will not make things any easier. - fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure apple's stockholders thank you for your purchases, keep it up
- smeep2k4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I bought an iPod for my mother for Christmas. I have to say, the iPod is pretty easy to use. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the iTunes software. Maybe I've played too much with other pieces of software and they all generally do the same things in a similar manner, whereas I can't get iTunes to do what I want it to do. Where the hell is the broken link "fixer" or "remover" feature? Seriously, Apple, you people are supposed to be the user interface people. You make things easy (I have no Mac, and only used one once, but was able to figure out how to do most things within 5 or 10 minutes). iTunes is way too clunky for me. I much prefer Musicmatch to iTunes. It just seems to do more things than iTunes when dealing with raw mp3's. Perhaps if I bought music off iTunes, things may be easier.
- MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is too weird. Not sure why some people would want to collect expensive electronics as a hobby, but it takes all kinds I guess. I've bought three. I started with a 4gb mini that I was pretty happy with, but had trouble using it with the FM transmitter I had (plugged into the cig lighter with bendable metal and it kept falling over when I turned sharply). Got a first gen 4 gb nano that I still use. No problems or scratches (I use a decent case) for well over a year. Sold the mini to a friend for 50 bucks when his 3rd gen hard drive died. Lastly, just bought my wife a 2nd gen 4gb green nano.
Since I mostly use it in the car for podcasts, I saw no need for the mega 5 or 5.5 gen. Plus I think the screen is too small for video (same problem with the Zune IMO). If Apple comes out with an iPod with at least a 4-inch screen I MAY consider getting one depending on the price.
These are entertainment devices. I find it amusing that someone would keep buying new ones just because a new color came out or it was bumped up slightly in the storage department. Find a DAP that works (not necessarily an iPod), use it until it doesn't work anymore, or there's a compelling enough reason to get another. Stop buying stuff just because it's prettier than what you already have. - psylence, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Once all the electrons are used, you can't really play much more with it so you need to buy a new one or re-charge your existing one.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, i bet you feel really special buying an MP3 player with no screen when you can get a sansa with a screen and the same capacity for the same price.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This guy must have been highly affected by Steve jobs reality distortion field.
- Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course one ipod isn't enough. All of the other ones broke just outside of their warranty.
Digg it down fanboys, but 2/3 of the people I know (myself included) that owned an ipod had it break just outside of warranty. What kind of durable product is that? - *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I've no idea. When I try and add a picture Digg accepts and displays it for a few hours then changes it to my name!!
- 574lk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i have one, my first,
a 30gig video one,
i use it in the car (for video or music) through my car audio via a rear connection on the stereo and i use it in the house on the main amp and on headphones, saves booting up the pc just for music and i can keep all my music on it, except for any lossy audio though which is a shame.
its cool, but i dont need another.....yet. - bickdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the softs (iPod+iTunes) sure suck, but the hardware is good.
can't wait for being able to listen to music on iPod Linux... playing doom is not enough. - questlove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Two iPods is the new one iPod
- AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2My first iPod was a 1st generation shuffle, I used it while I worked out and ran. I had wanted an iPod for a while, but didn't trust a hard-disk player for my runs. As soon as they came out with a flash based player, I jumped on it. When they came out with the nano, I did that as I really did miss the display but still wanted a flash player. I gave the shuffle to my Dad, who used it for a while until he forgot and left it in his jeans and washed it...
I still have that 1st generation 2GB nano that I use for my runs (with the Nike+ sport kit) and workouts, and I got a 30GB when they upgraded them this year. I thought about the 80GB, but my laptop only has an 80GB drive anyway and my music and video collection is only about 23GB total, so 80GB seemed a little overkill. - Shens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0since when does one person owning three ipods grant an article on msnbc?
- Kallius, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Congratulations on being Apple's wet dream. And for pandering to a company that regards an iPod Shuffle as a "stocking stuffer" (yes, this is how it was advertised locally. Naio21 has got it right).
- kevmann16, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1To add to my comment above I do think it is stupid to buy more than one of the same type of ipod but not to buy the different types. "iPod" to "iPod with video" to a future "video iPod" seems like a natural progression if you have the others but to buy a say a "iPod with video" and the new "iPod with video G2" would be a waste because the upgrades are not worth the money.
- latisha1903, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I only have a 5g 30gb ipod. sold my ipod mini a few months ago.
2004 when I got my mini,it's what made me finally get a mac. got a pbg4 that next april (05).
love that i converted. - NiteShok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What a douche. I regret owning one iPod. It's a clunky piece of ***** when trying to update my music with iTunes.
- *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Well not really, I'd have happily kept my 40GB model for ages, at the time i thought it did everything I wanted it but I've realised I get a lot of use out of the video function on long journeys. So its worth upgrading for me.
- jpaolini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hmm, what you're saying makes sense. That's just the thing, I absolutely do fight iTunes, even when I used to use it exclusively for all my music. I don't like it retagging my stuff, I don't like it sorting things, I don't like it "analyzing" my collection.
I've already sorted out my 60GB of music the way I like it using Tag&Rename (best program ever made, for those who have not used it) and I don't need iTunes screwing around with it all.
That said, your post makes perfect sense to me. I guess for a less advanced computer/iPod user, iTunes is the way to go since they want iTunes to manage everything automatically as best it can. - jimmah82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+030gb but never watch vids.. shuffle for the gym
- xsecretfiles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I can't get NO ..Satistaction
oops I did it again? - cbiz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11st gen windoze version, love it, still use all the time (a gift from my mother inlaw?!)
2 silver mini's (one I gave my son - one was free with purchase of Apple computer) wife uses everyday
1 black nano (stolen)
1 white 60 gig ipod video (home system)
1 new shuffle (gift) and plenty of itunes gift cards (I use allofmp3 and gomusic.ru) but what the heck...
can't wait fer da phone!!!!! -
