- MiddleOfNowhere, on 08/31/2008, -9/+122What a slimy, disgusting "article". So this passes as journalism at Forbes.com these days?
"Yo, Jobs, just in case you're really sick - fulfill all my little Mac fantasies before you kick the bucket, mkay?"
This little ***** columnist tries to top his colleague at Bloomberg by using a rumor and a column about Jobs' health as a platform to let the world know what Jobs "has to do" before he dies.
A tablet computer? The iPhone is close enough. I have worked with touchscreens, and I do not want to see my own finger traces on an expensive, large 15.4" display all day.
A TV? Why should Apple go into a business with low profit margins and dozens of very effective competitors where they don't control content?
A remote control? Macs came with slick, minimalist remote controls. Now why should Apple waste its time and brand power on developing remote controls for other companies' products? There isn't a lot of fame to be earned in this business, as developers of universal remotes probably will tell you.
A digital book? Maybe one day. But with the Kindle's not-so-spectacular success story, I see half a dozen other areas for innovation before Apple does something here.
And the last one - just hot air, showing this wanker isn't able to think outside his little Forbes cubicle.
I mean, seriously: How low can you sink? "Hey, I am just some cynic ***** writing for Forbes, but see how I get my ten seconds of Internet fame by telling Steve Jobs about my really cool tech ideas!"
What a despicable hack. Maybe he can get a show at Fox. - utexas112, on 08/31/2008, -12/+866. Fix iPhone software version 2.0
- Nicoon, on 08/31/2008, -13/+59No.
- LiamIsOnFire, on 08/31/2008, -20/+636. Make his products affordable.
- daRoach, on 09/01/2008, -3/+27Steve Jobs is going to DIE?
- rydawg61, on 09/01/2008, -3/+26Copy and Paste on the iPhone would be nice
- macaca, on 09/01/2008, -5/+26Revokes AT&T and makes iphone open for every carrier.
- wackattack, on 08/31/2008, -6/+24There is only one thing Jobs need to do before he dies. Build iClone!
- benroy, on 09/01/2008, -1/+17He should switch things up.
Try wearing a blue shirt with black pants. - darkane, on 09/01/2008, -2/+18Just breathe.
- tdskate, on 09/01/2008, -2/+16What a cheap ***** article!
- BrendanSheehan, on 08/31/2008, -7/+20I think this health thing is getting a little out of hand. In all likelihood Jobs is perfectly healthy. First they kill him off, and now they are planning his list of things to do before he dies. He'll probably live till he's 90.
But if we're making lists I'd like to add to it:
6. Get the iTunes team to rewrite iTunes for Windows. - simplenation, on 09/01/2008, -1/+13did Forbes.com finally get the memo that we hate their slideshows?? or is this a fluke?
- spudsstuff, on 09/01/2008, -1/+12Here's hoping he doesn't die anytime soon.
- iburyfamilyguy, on 09/01/2008, -1/+126. Ride a dolphin
- BedPost, on 09/01/2008, -0/+11Finally, something more expensive at launch than the PS3 was!
- vrta, on 09/01/2008, -1/+11To Copy and Paste stuff?
- uthallan, on 09/01/2008, -13/+237. Not inject hidden software into products.

- buddhistMonkey, on 09/01/2008, -5/+14Steve Jobs revolutionized the computer industry, the movie industry, and the music industry. He's paid his dues. Anything we get from him from here on out is gravy.
- fuzzy889, on 09/01/2008, -3/+12That article ***** sucked.
- energyblue, on 08/31/2008, -7/+15That's 7. after the fix iPhone suggestion from utexas112.

- brad016, on 09/01/2008, -3/+10Dugg down because Steve Jobs can't die
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -10/+177. Video Game Console.
- BrendanSheehan, on 08/31/2008, -1/+8That's not a remote, it's a power manager. Forbes means a TV remote I suspect, which they probably shouldn't have made a separate point, what with them mentioning a TV and all.
- MadOgre, on 08/31/2008, -6/+12Yes, Forbes must write Job's Bucket List.
Funny, two hot Mac Genius Chicks at the same time are not on this list. List fails. - inactive, on 09/01/2008, -0/+6Correction: Video Game Console that is under $6000 dollars on launch date.
- Kelmon, on 09/01/2008, -0/+6@SecureXeC
Actually, I think Jobs was originally a technician so he may indeed have written code during his early days at Atari. However, it's clear that this sort of thing wasn't his strong point. Wozniak definitely was the technical whiz but Jobs was the one who was able to sell what was produced. In this respect they both needed the other to succeed. Given this it's hard to say who had the "real brain", if such an accolade can really be applied.
There's a definite attitude in the technical community that seems to suggest that those involved in sales or marketing are lesser individuals but the fact of the matter is that they are usually necessary. If no one is selling your great product, is it really that great? - znicket, on 09/01/2008, -2/+8This was in terrible terrible terrible bad taste.
Journalist rule #14
Don´t use a person´s death or impending death as a springboard for a fluff article. - Soave, on 09/01/2008, -6/+126. Make an advertisement that praises Apple products rather than immaturely criticizes Microsoft products.
7. Stop wearing turtlenecks. Seriously, why? - oveedrx, on 09/01/2008, -2/+8buried for waste of bandwidth / space this piece of garbage article takes up on the interwebz
- chkdg8, on 09/01/2008, -1/+6Shame on the Apple blog community for fueling articles like this. The title alone shows extreme lack of class and disrespect. I swear, journalistic integrity has gone out the ***** door in this country.
- davidfremily, on 09/01/2008, -2/+7Buried for *****
- Rocksea24, on 09/01/2008, -2/+7He needs to clone himself so Apple isn't SOL when he actually does die.
- junkwheel, on 09/01/2008, -0/+46. Paint a self portrait
- jermm, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Considering how well it worked the first time...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandai_Pippin - CCmachined, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4No dude. seriously, if Apple did this, OSX would explode in popularity.
instead Apple are a software AND hardware monopoly (of the non-Windows commercial computers). its a monopoly of the niche left over by Microsoft's software monopoly. the PC industry is wide open for anyone to make hardware. this drives innovation.
Linux isn't any monopoly. "monopoly of a wide variety of freedom-driven open-source operating systems" is contradictory. besides, BSD, Solaris and other systems exist. Linux is just the kernel. - haydesigner, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Won't we all?
(no, really... I have no idea what the answer is...) - ATLien74, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4'HELLO WORLD! I"M A MORAN!"? Oh the irony! And in CAPS as well. :-)
- eschompthis, on 09/01/2008, -2/+6how about he ***** doesn't care what you unappreciated ***** want and leaves apple to worry about his health
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3Steve Jobs didn't code. He was the business man. Wozniak(sp?) was the real brain.
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3Wait, this guy is an idiot.
4. A Digital Book
What e-readers [referring to Amazon Kindle's] lack is a crafty business model, such as Jobs has constructed for putting content on Apple's iPod digital media players.
If the Amazon Kindle got something right is the business model, the way you can buy a book everywhere without signing a contract with a wireless company is just perfect. If Apple puts out an E-reader it may become more mainstream than Amazon's in less time but that's not due to iTunes, is the Apple halo effect. - TheCash, on 09/01/2008, -0/+36.a: include a non-gimpy version of bluetooth in your iPhones that actually supports A2DP like every other effing music phone on the market already does.
- chevyorange, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3I don't know why they dugg you down. It is the only reason I have yet to buy an iPhone. I can afford it, I just hate to give money to the company that bent over on a whim and gave it all up without a fight.
- mytCbumps, on 09/01/2008, -6/+9Stupid MobileMe on my PC. I download iTunes and this MobileMe crap shows up in Control Panel!
