Five New MacBook Configurations for Tues, May 15th?
macrumors.com — Tuesday, May 15th is the most recent date-on-the-calendar for those awaiting Apple notebook updates. Questionable rumors posted last week indicated that we would see Apple laptop updates this week, while other rumors pointed to "sooner than expected" laptop updates.Despite varying claims, the f...

- muaddib420, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32biggest *wood* is if Apple updates the sorry intel 950 graphics processor.
- sdrawkcaB, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12But what about the Macbook Pros?
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Apple just doesn't have competitive graphics options, does it? There's where they make their margins.
- kocharoches, on 10/11/2007, -20/+3dugg down cause of *****-erotic comments! i am embarrassed you people are Mac users!
- JamesBrown, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13I'd really like Apple to introduce a 15" MacBook. The 13" screen on the current model is just too small, but to get the 15" inch screen you need to spend $1000 more for the Pro.
- twit987, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2the new macs will come out when they ***** come out.
you guys are worse then my 6yo brother having to look at his presents days before xmas morning - Talez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If they were to put a new graphics chip in the MacBooks, $20 says that they get either the X3000 or some variant of the GeForce 8500. X3000s are decently fast and 8500s have full H.264 decoding offload. 50 bucks says the next version of the MBP has a 8600GT/GTS for this very reason.
- Heembo, on 10/11/2007, -17/+3OHH! A Mac book Pro with 2 gigs of ram, core 2 duo, a solid nVidia card with an eSata drive + 100gb for under 1000 like I can get at Dell? HAHAHAH APPLE HACKINTOSH ALL THE WAY!
- TheCheeks, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6@Heembo
the last thing i would want is a POS Dell. all the kids that still have PCs get Dells and those things fall apart QUICK. No one likes a wobbly screen cause of a weak screen hinge, i see that way too often. - EBFoxbat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Apple Web Store is down... something's going one!!!
- sancho, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Hey Heembo, got a link to that Dell?
Didn't think so. - zongamin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Agrred - I bought a cheap Dell a few years ago - it is a complete piece of *****. Its cheap for a reason.
- schnuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1blimey, my finger is bleeding from constantly hitting the refresh button at the apple store page!
i going nuts, cant wait anymore. i will pop over to the apple store over lunch and eat my sandwich right in front of it! sheesh! - cwilson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2With regards to the negative Dell posts, I would have to agree about build quality. I've seen a few good ones, but most of the consumer grade Dell notebooks tend to have a cheap feel to them. I've seen a lot of cracks in cases and other battle wounds. I like Dell desktops but I am not a big fan of their notebook line. I wouldn't say they are POS, but I think myself (and probably many people here) demand a higher build quality from our notebooks.
In keeping with the Apple subject here, I don't stray from the Thinkpad line but if I did it would probably be an Apple. My only concern is the Intel video and the single button for the touchpad. I know Apple traditionally had one button but they even offer two button mice with their desktops now. It's time to put those machines into the two button world... - Ransomowris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.apple.com
It's up.
- iBenzin, on 10/11/2007, -17/+2*orgasm*
- IslandSaint, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32Now my year hold MacBook is TWO generations behind...
- Aliarse, on 10/11/2007, -15/+2@islandsaint (#6688141)
Dont worry about it, the hardware hasn't changed.
I'm sure its got a pretty, brand new case design though. :D - rcran, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27At least you didn't buy one of the last Powerbooks... Then you really feel outdated.
- daza, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Nasty, my mate just got his Macbook today. For his sake I hope they don't roll out any new ones :)
- dingmah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@islandsaint
The MacBook isn't even 1 year old yet, it was released May 16, 2006. Tomorrow would be it's first birthday... close enough :p - zweben, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I bought the last PowerBook revision (17"). I still I love it even if it is kinda slow.
- PathDaemon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@rcran
/me raises hand. A final rev PowerBook must have some special resell value or something... right?
In all honesty, it's an awesome computer but I'm gonna have to replace it to run IntellaMac or Windows apps as I move into college. - BZKyle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4My 1st gen macbook has been in the shop 7 times in 7 months... Whee...
- Aliarse, on 10/11/2007, -15/+2@islandsaint (#6688141)
- isit, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5Nice, but the source isn't particularly reliable. I wouldn't bet on it.
- potterboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, there is no evidence at all for it... except the apple store is down.
- phantomstealth, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I also wait with credit card in hand, if the macbook pro is updated.... we shall see!
- valkyries, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1hum i still think im gona wait till July or August to upgrade
- Heembo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3Just get a cheap dell laptop, cram it full of ram and HACKINTOSH it!
- mepawl, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1What does "reveals that the MacBook is approaching the end of its refresh cycle" mean?
Anyways, I hope that these rumors are true, would be awesome to see some improvement!- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You can extrapolate when an Mac is going to be updated based on Intel's processor roadmap, releases of OS X, releases of macs in the same class (laptops, conusmer desktops, pro desktops), date of last update, rumours etc etc
Macrumors buying guide seems quite accurate when it comes to predicting upgrades.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You can extrapolate when an Mac is going to be updated based on Intel's processor roadmap, releases of OS X, releases of macs in the same class (laptops, conusmer desktops, pro desktops), date of last update, rumours etc etc
- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -13/+11Five configurations? Let me consult those Mac vs. PC ads...
Huh. So is the Mac guy going to have to borrow PC guy's roulette wheel? This seems "too complicated."- theheadguy, on 10/11/2007, -12/+4You must really like those ads... And five computer configurations is way to complicated for you?
- rcran, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1ehem*kissass*eck
- SultanTravi, on 10/11/2007, -17/+1Why would you want a new mac anyways? PCs are the ones that can't run new a new OS. You should be able to get a $100 clunker from a used computer store and put OSX on it just fine.
- Glenn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Here's hoping for an Apple sub-notebook.
- Roger, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2New nano please!
- brutimus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+30Oh no, the 15th?! I can't buy gas to get to the Apple store... *rolls eyes*
- isit, on 10/11/2007, -14/+1How about you go the day after then?
- inspecality, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14What's up with all the commenters missing obvious jokes? Is it cause it's an Apple related topic?
Irony.
- killroyisaloser, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3And I just bought one two weeks ago. Figures.
- Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11When purchasing an apple product always check the Buyers Guide on Mac rumors: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/
- jewdiknight, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2What is the return policy if you just got a mac and a new one comes out?
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I wonder what percentage of these rumors turn out to be true...
- daFilms, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6...36%, but I just got an insider tip about a rumor saying that 78% of statistics are made up on the spot; but it could just be hearsay.
- itchytooth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16I just bought a MacBook a second ago. Literally, one second!
Oh well, into the trash it goes...- quantumHobbit, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12So where do you live so that I can do some dumpster diving?
- JamesBrown, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Cancel your order. Duh. I'm sure an order placed at 11:00pm PDT hasn't shipped yet.
- chris8535, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Mac users just don't get jokes... its like they don't understand anything unless Jobs explains it to them then tells them they can laugh.
- Dotcommer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5am... am i allowed to laugh at that? ...
NO! MR. JOBS! IM SORRY. PLEASE. DONT TAKE AWAY MY IPOD. I SWEAR I'll NEVER QUESTION YOU AGAIN!!! *Sob*
haaaave muuuuurccceeeeey on meeeeeeee *sob* - anonym41414, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Or, you know, it might not have been funny. That's a possibility too.
- everfresh59, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2BS, your not gonna see any updates until July...when Adobe releases the video sutie. I got my MBP about 2 months ago and finally made the switch. Although it's a scratch magnet, it's a really sweet looking one!
- everfresh59, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1*suite
- Gryffydd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12*you're
- Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Why Adobe? Didn't apple just release the Final Cut Studio 2 Suite? Apple could care less about Adobe right now.
- Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4so your saying apple does care about adobe?
your incorrect use of idioms contradicts the rest of your comment - Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Murdats, you missed the last two words of my comment "Right Now". Of course they care about adobe all I am saying is that they aren't going to wait for adobe to release their suite to update the line when they just released their own suite.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3could care less != couldn't care less
The first is wrong as it implies that you do care which is the opposite of what you're trying to convey.
- quantumHobbit, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I've been wanting to get a new MacBook after graduation. First it was waiting for Leopard. Then it was screw Leopard is bumped for the iphone. Now I'm afraid to order because a new set of MacBooks will be released teh day after I order. Meanwhile my current PC suffers waiting for a long over due reformat.
- dagamer34, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18I always find it funny that people start making rumors about the wildest things. 4GB RAM! 12" laptop with same specs as 15" model! Better video card! More battery life!
Please, quit asking the impossible. The current MacBooks and MacBook Pros are NO slouches, you people just seem to be falling victim to refresh cycles.
Faster, smaller, cheaper. Pick 2 out of 3 and move on please.- chris8535, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3actually you are wrong
XPS 1210 pick all three, rated the best laptop in existence by multiple magazines and websites. - Tippis, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2That's an easy pick: faster and smaller all the way. They're cheap enough as it is.
Or, as a friend of mine put it: a year down the road, your fast and cheap computer will be slow and worthless; a year down the road, a fast and small computer will at least still be small...
- chris8535, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3actually you are wrong
- InWake, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2well time to roll out the pennies.
- Codee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Man.
Only if Apple had a trade up program.
Now my year old MacBook Pro, has aged faster than Paris Hilton's dad. - gafasiesornivek, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Steve Jobs is a Macbook configuration.
- wildsnake, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Nothing will come this Tuesday. Only the iPhone in June and I heard they are already in short supply. No pre-orders.
- jbciii, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2ahhhh ! hope it happens.. but then again.. i just bought a macbook pro a month ago :-(
- Gee1004, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0No way
- bikeham, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0At what time (in the US I guess) can we declare this is another lame rumour? When do they update the Apple website usually?
- yacks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1macbooks are being updated soon.. very soon :) the current macbooks are discontinued models at the store i work at. but anyone can guess its time for an upgrade.
- phyll, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0i'd be a damn fool to think any different
- bikeham, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The Australian apple website is being updated.
http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebObjects/australiastore- lessew, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The Canadian and US online stores are being updated as well.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1UK store is down too. Im guessing they're all probably down.
- JohnHamlin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2ooh, so is the us store
http://store.apple.com
EDIT: sorry about double posting that . . . don't know how to delete comments - dombi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2According to the MacBook Pro page in Denmark, we can expect MacBook Pros with LCD backlit displays, GPRS modems and Quad Xeon processors... not sure yet what to think about all of this.
http://www.appie.dk/macbookpro/- dombi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Crap... nevermind. Someone played a prety good joke on some of us. The link is fake.
- timusca, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Could this be the flash-based MacBook?
- zongamin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Store still updating - glad I didn't order my macbook last week!
- potifar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Those motherf*****s. I just bought a MacBook a week ago, foolishly thinking they wouldn't update them until later this summer.
- vinhcenthao, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore
Oh yes :D Somethings going down today. - ultraalloy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I wonder what takes them so long to updating the store.
- potterboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Just a speed bump people. Nothing major.
- ultraalloy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1It's UP! NEW MACBOOKS
- zongamin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Increased speeds, Ram up to 1gig minimum, larger HD, slightly cheaper price.
Cool - but nothing major- kdjsmith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0From the Hot News page on Apple.com:
"Apple Updates MacBook"
"Apple announced that it has updated its entire MacBook product line with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of memory, and larger hard drives. Just one-inch thin, MacBook features built-in 802.11n wireless networking. It also includes a built-in iSight video camera for on-the-go video conferencing, a MagSafe Power Adapter that safely disconnects under strain, and iLife ’06, Apple’s award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications. With prices starting at $1,099 (US), the new MacBook models are available immediately. [May 15, 2007]"
US Store is still down, but the Apple.com main page shows the new MacBooks.
- kdjsmith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0From the Hot News page on Apple.com:
- potterboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What? The MBP product page has a We will return soon page? More than MB's?
EDIT: NM, all of them are like that
EDIT: The store is back down??? - mikelamb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1New Macbooks, http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=520F94DC&node=home/macbook/macbook
- rentz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1macbook updates and not much of one! what about the macbook pro!?
- sunebeck, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0New MacBook Pros too! http://digg.com/apple/Apple_Denmark_REVEALS_NEW_MACBOOK_PROS_2
- Frost9999, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Dear Apple,
I already have a recent MacBook. It's ok, but I need a powerhouse for Photoshop so I use a PC and WinXP. I would just pop in to your shop and buy a Mac Pro but err... they cost way too much. Please fill the gap in your product line and let me have a fast upgradable desktop/workstation class machine that will match my PC in spec, but not cost three times as much. - gamesector, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Did the store just go down again?
- vinhcenthao, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1UK store was up with new Macbook configs but now the store is back down. Come on Apple!
- speedyrev, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.apple.com/macbook/macbook.html
- mikae1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not much of an upgrade. Still GMA 950 graphics. I'll consider that thing when the GMA X3000 is in it.
- bedrock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Seems like it's just a minor update to use up some of the "old" 667MHz FSB Core 2 Duos they have (the newest ones, just released, have an 800MHz FSB - how soon will they be in the MBP?)... and to take advantage of the rock-bottom prices of DDR2. No new features though, which is a bit dull for a Mac update...
- beachchalet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I am hanging out for a super light one, along the lines of the Toshiba R200...1.9kg, 12.1". I've had my Toshiba for 4 years, so VERY long in the tooth, but still runs all the needed apps.
Eternal hope is:
1. super light - nkthen, on 02/27/2008, -0/+1http://www.totallink.info
