- Webteeth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Since the website is down and the duggmirror doesn't work, here's a zip file of the images. I'm not sure if any images were added after these images I have, so the collection may not be complete, but it's probably the best you'll get for now :)

I'm sure M$ has never put anyone out of business through competition... oh wait... - jesusfranco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16@ flag564
No one said it was the right thing to do, but as far as I know these days very few software titles are original. Its all in the best product, Apples implementation of these features are much better than the software it was inspired by, not to mention its free with the os. - WalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -17/+31I'd like to see xcode!
- TrentQ, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18http://www.duggmirror.com/apple/First_look_at_Leopard_Mac_OS_X/
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Just because it was submitted two days ago, doesn't mean it was promoted two days ago.
- ericnmu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11dead already?
- pierre, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12dugg mirror never seems to work
- alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Time Machine != System Restore
It keeps track of files modified, not system info. Yes it can backup your apps, but it isn't designed (as far as I can tell) to be used if your system becomes unstable and you need to roll it back. It's for "Oops! I hit save instead of Save As 3 days ago" or deletion of files.
I don't use system restore either, but backing up files to DVDs or an external is always a good idea :)
I'd love iChat to work with MSN. MSN is all us Canadians use, and I want to be able to actually use the webcam if it's built-in :( - richard5mith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This is quite common. The version used by Steve on stage has often been further ahead than the developer build released at the same time.
- melmyfinger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I love how you can bind apps to a specific space. One thing that I'm really curious about though: how does Spaces handle dual monitors?
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I'm really digging the grid spacing and guest accounts. :D This is just the tip of the iceberg for Leopard, however.
- chadseld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have a macbook. The video card is not a gaming card, but it is way more than enough for the quartz animations in Tiger and Keynote, etc... There are no new animations in Leopard (that I have seen) which would tax this video card.
- TechPedia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Sigh. This is what happens when you use shared hosting. Sorry for the crappy service. It won't happen again.
:(
Here are the images, if you're interested:

Feel free to spread them around.
Again, sorry about the downtime. Hopefully it won't last long. - incongruity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5(from: http://www.aeroxp.org/board/index.php?showtopic=5142&st=0entry58868 )
""Sharing accounts" are possible, with users being restricted via an access control list (ACL) to certain applications or files. Developers can integrate with this by restricting access to a specific piece of content by connecting it to a sharing account. Sharing accounts have no home folder" - alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Scroll up near the top for Webteeth's zip link.. Thanks Webteeth!
- vonnie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10What is a 'sharing account' (on the user account preferences)?
I'd like to see xcode and interface builder too. And more on 'objective c 2.0' - sharpeyed1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I believe early '07 is the ETA. A Macbook bought now will 99.99999% for sure run Leopard. Enjoy!

- TechPedia, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I've added some comments/descriptions. Feel free to ask for more screenshots, and thanks for the Diggs!
- thebrokenlight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Those aren't nearly all the features of Leopard. Apple is still keeping many of the features under wraps, including the new Finder interface. I would definitely save the judgement until we have more information.
So we'll probably see in a few months whether it's worth the upgrade or not. - hyperpasta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The only thing you have to look at are the cards that support the various graphics technologies and frameworks. The most taxing one in Tiger is called "Core Image", and that will work on the MacBook. The new one in Leopard is called "Core Animation", and will work hand-in-hand with Core Image. If you look at its preview page on Apple's site, it says that if your video card can handle Core Image, then it can also handle the new Core Animation.
So, in a word, yes.
The MacBook will fully support every single feature of Leopard with full graphical effects. You can buy one without worry. - yonah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does anyone know when Leopard is due? Do you guys think people (like me) should wait buying a mac? I want a macbook now ;)
- jurand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I forgot to mention...
THE ABOVE IS A MIRROR OF THE IMAGES!
I am updating the images as I am able to get more of them. - iheartbeer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So, with "spaces" is there only one desktop folder? In other words, are the files on the desktop in one space the same as the others? I've only seen screenshots (from apple) with the hard drive on each.
What about desktop pictures, same one for all? - alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was going to ask the same thing Yonah. I'm worried if I go and buy a macbook that Leopard's animations etc will require a better video card.
Can any dev at WWDC confirm?
I doubt it but it just seems that if your on windows or osx, needing the newest video card for the next gen OSes is something we can't escape. :( - rkettner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, I was wondering this too... I don't know of any good mac software for managing dual monitors. For my PCs I use Ultramon... but have yet to find something like it for Mac. You know... so you can hit a mouse button or keyboard shortcut to flip apps from screen to screen. Does anything like this exist for Mac? I wonder if spaces will allow you to allocate a space to each monitor, and then flip them independently.
- danielwsmithee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I doubt it will. The only thing I have ever seen is dragging windows from screen to screen. My guess is spaces will handle the second monitor with the first monitor, and you will have double wide spaces on your grid.
It would get really messy like that though with 3 or more monitors especially if they are different sizes. - danbedford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Spring Loaded Dock folders!!! Fiiiiinally!! Lot's of cool stuff in this article, but the spring loaded dock folders is HUGE for me.. :)
- alantocheri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice thanks for the advice. Now to decide on whether to get the student discount + free nano, or wait till macworld, hope they release an upgrade and just get the student discount .... *sigh*
- matt.rubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah a apple but not like 13 apples a day
- circa1978, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did anyone notice the RSS icon in mail during the keynote. I'm pretty sure that is new.
- TechPedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've created a simple html page to view the content here:

With luck, everyone clicking the original post link above will be properly redirected...
Thanks again for your patience and interest. - TechPedia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I was in SF for the first time, with a corporate credit card and covered expenses. Yet, what did I do? I bought an external drive, installed leopard and posted it online.
Is that geeky, sad, pathetic or all of the above?
I think I was first...but at what cost to my dignity or poor, battered web server?
:) - DiamondIce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:http://techpedia.org/a/90
http://techpedia.org.nyud.net:8090/a/90 - strcmp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like Leopard will switch to Mail.app style buttons...take a look at the Preview screenshot ( http://techpedia.org/t/Techpedia-Pages/Image11.html ).
These are worse than the existing style of toolbar buttons because they don't have unique silhouettes. - xistboi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here they on on Flickr:

All credit to Techpedia.org - dalesmatrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It may well be a bit GoBack'ish, but that's not a bad thing, it was a pretty neat piece of software.
- Hardcore41, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is like the fourth first look Ive seen.
- artman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apple isn't stealing from anyone here. If they copy/pasted every line of a developer's code and renamed it, yes. Most of these were probably in the R&D pipe and I believe that Apple did recognize the potential for these to be an enhancement to their operating system. So they look at their own operating system and integrate a feature similar for their own product.
To the developers. You win some, you lose some. Now get back to work and create something better or new. Because as a designer, I get "ripped off" all the time. But the challenge is to go to the next level and innovate.
I believe Jobs said that Leopard will be released in the Spring of 2007. I think they'll have it out sooner than that (at least on their computers). - geniusj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TechPedia, I'm dying to know the answer to something..
Does Time Machine keep track of EVERY time you modify a file? Or does it just do that backup every night at whatever time you specify and you therefore get 1 revision per day? I'm wondering if it just backs up all the revisions its collected for the day at that time, or if it only keeps 1 per day. - monsy68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1:) LOL an apple a day keeps the doctor away.....
- pygmalion, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Needs pic mirror !
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@filenavigator
Not sure exactly how that logic works out. But suuuuurree. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Personally, I'm just glad both companies now have competing operating systems that are 'sort of' on par with each other. Its only good for all of us who use either system.
And a quick message to Apple, you all better improve your developer tools and language supprt. .NET blows you clean outta the water. - alej744, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3The site has been successfully *****.
- filenavigator, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Here is how it works (Mod me down, but you are all missing a major point).
A story can't be promoted unless it is less than 23hrs and 59min old. If it exceeds that it will never make it to the home page.
So. Now if the story is right on the edge...say at 23hrs and 15min. If it is promoted and the most recent post (The one on the top) the oldest I could possibly see it being is a 1 day and 30min. If it is 2 days old it means that it was the top post on the main page for the whole day! There is no way this has happened since stories get promoted almost every 30 minutes.
This can only mean that it fell off the upcoming stories, someone inside Digg found it and put it on the main page.
Now do you get it? - philfro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Please post screenshots of the calendar scheduling stuff in conjunction with the caldav server! :-)
- Aanidaani, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I agree that these features look promising, but Apple really has to show something more substantial to make me want to switch.
