- SLOviper, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Cool new design. Kudos to Apple on attaining such a small footprint.
- isewise, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34Here is why...
http://www.misterbg.org/AppleProductCycle/
its step 22 in the cycle - emceepecks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Why would you even ask that on digg?
People do it because they can, and quite frankly, it's damn cool. - brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Should there be?
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17not much to it? man do we live in crazy times. this thing holds 1-2GB of music, and plays that music back to you and it's about the size of a pack of matches (from the pics, yet to see a real one). that's pretty awesome if you ask me, but my first DAP was a 2gb creative jukebox that was bigger than a discman, heavier than my 60GB iPod, and took over 2 minutes to boot. that was only 5 years ago.
- Ludnix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13No but you can call it a logic board.
- Neilyos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12no disassemble!
- xenonflash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Yay for direct linkage!
- thegreyfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8can't wait to see what they fit in a phone

- einsteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Is this for real? It's under the "Help" section

That's way more interesting than the story we're supposed to be discussing. =) - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is the play/pause button backlit or am I just hallucinating?
- xxrazor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5wow that was fast
- Chordonblue, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Just got mine fed-ex'd today - it is smaller than you think in person. And it sounds terrific, even if my headphones are TWICE the size of the player itself! :)
- yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That thing is freaking tiny. I get a real thrill out of seeing its mini controls and being taken apart. It's almost... I need to get some air.
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I would quite like to see an Apple fanboy disassembled. With or without anaesthetic.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8fetusboard?
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because you can't rip your legally owned CDs and put those on the iPod can you?
- DigitalDesignDJ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@emorphien They did.. its called an iPod and its equally amazing if not more so....
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think you're hallucinating. There's nothing on the logic board that looks like an LED in the centre, and I'm sure Apple would tout it as a magical feature if it actually was.
- Pushkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Got it yesterday. It is really cool - especially with the soft ear buds costing more than the shuffle itself
Now I am off to find out what on earth a spudger is!! - DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's like asking if people would buy 300gb harddrives if it weren't for pirated porn.

- GeneralBison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why do all the Microsoft fanatics post comments on the apple news? If you don't like Apple, then don't read the news!
- greatcaffeine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3People take apart Apple products because the engineering behind them is really pretty awesome.
- WoahPuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha...that's cool
- binder520, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, it is small.
- ctiptonk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Relocated to http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-Shuffle-2nd-Generation/Disassembly?page=BAD_GUIDE_IPOD_/usr/www/users/pbfix//Guide/iPod/iPod-Shuffle-2nd-Generation/Disassembly
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1That's why I just ordered up a 1st gen 1Gb shuffle. World's sexiest USB stick. Apple was clearing them out cheap on Wednesday in the UK. Admittedly I could have got a no-name one for half the price, but I needed a new set of ear buds and it will be handier for the gym than the 60gig Gen 4.
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I almost impulse bought one yesterday, but then I realised that it charges via the headphone jack. Although, I guess really the dock is only a bit bigger than the dock connector on the regular cable anyway isn't it?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Handy if you drop it in the soda, and need to clean it...
- lisitsa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rubbish.
Of course it can be used as a memory stick but just doesn't have an external usb. Once they come out with a mini cable (3.5mm to usb) then it'll be nearly as convenient as the old shuffle. PS my old shuffle never fit in the front computer USB ports either.
Mine hasn't being deliered yet, but from what I hear the major peeve from people is that it comes with the old headphones and not with new smaller heaphones. I've listened to music with the new headphones and they do genuinely sound better so this peeves me too.
Meh, the bottom line of 79 makes a very tight budget for apple - cipher64, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47,500 (30GB) or 20,000 songs (80GB)....99c/song
just wondering would they really sell these devices if it weren't for pirated music?? - shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -23/+23not the most interesting thing ever
- SlewDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It should be easy for a third-party developer to make a small USB adapter that restores the memory-stick functionality of the Shuffle."
It can't be used as a memory-stick? Is this confirmed?
I was going to get one because I liked the look of it, but I really need USB storage. - MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -8/+8yeah, there's not much to it.
- utility73, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1actually it is much smaller than a pack of matches.
the quality of the headphone jacks sucks though. - emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@DigitalDesignDJ
Umm... no. I think you missed the point. - Jumangi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Why do Apple fans have to post links and then Digg to the top every freaking piece of Apple info regardless of how miniscule it is?
- masterc, on 10/12/2007, -19/+16Why do people feel the need to post pics of someone taking apart any kind of Apple product?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1it looks fugly.
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2its nice but not much to look at.
- sclifford, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2http://duggmirror.com/
- windowsrookie, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Can you even call that tiny thing a motherboard?
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -18/+7I'm going to have to say no and give kudos to the companies who manage to fit that much and a screen in a similarly small device.
Apple also isn't the first to use the headphone jack for charging.
