First Photos from Apple iPhone?

macrumors.com — An unusual story has popped up on MobileGuerilla claiming to have found the first photos from an Apple iPhone on the web.The search method seemed rather primitive... they simply searched for "taken with an Apple iPhone" on Google and found a set of Flickr images (now removed) tagged with the phr...

      #2 You can tag it on Flickr with any words you want.

      #3 An account cant be tracked to anyone.

      But despite basic logic. This has become a story on "macrumors", and gained 300 diggs here.

If it's really running OS X, there should be a lower frame-rate version of iChat included. Imagine sitting at Starbucks, sipping a latte, connected to their WiFi and chatting away with distant friends and family. I think this boat was missed.

But I got a Sony Ericsson K790 2 days ago since I live in Canada and so far, there are no confirmed plans for the release of the iPhone anytime soon. This was my first Sony Ericsson and I absolutely love it. My plan with Rogers doesn't end until March 2009, so I wouldn't be buying a new phone for a lonnnnggg time.

      The iPhone is being connected to a 2G network. It won't be possible to do video conferencing with it at all. It's unfortunate Apple decided to go with the much older, 2G network.

      Read the specs. It has 802.11g built in. The phone will default to WiFi when it is available. WiFi is very capable of sustaining video conferencing traffic.

      1600x1200 is far better to work via software, pretty standard,established resolution fitting 4:3 aspect perfectly.

    • lepton, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4They are not the best photos ever from a camera phone, but they seem great for a 2MP flashless camera phone. I figure they would use similar hardware to the iSight in the laptops. I expect it will do pretty decent video as well. I also noticed that when I loaded the pic into iPhoto it automatically fixed the orientation!

      I've got a SE k750i and these pics seem a bit better. I love the 750 but my main problem with it is it isn't quad GSM, it doesn't have the low freq Cingular uses and so doesn't work well in my house, which is in a low spot. The iPhone is quad GSM. -Mike from http://www.myallo.com

      This is a cell phone. It has a touch screen. And it plays music, with 4 or 8 gigabytes built-in storage. It has internet access, and a sleek UI.

      Oh, btw, it has a camera.

      Again, all those things I said (sleek UI, the fact that it has a touch screen and plays music) is all subjective. You don't have to like it. But then again, a lot of people do, and if you don't like the rest of the phone... why the hell would you be buying it for the camera?

      WOW! I'm pro MS, just because i said somthing bad about poor old Apple?

      I think Apple are a fantastic company with some great products. All their Mac range look and function beautifully, OSX is my favorite OS and the iPod blew every MP3 player out of the water with ease of use and style. I loved my iBookG4 to death and didn't want to see it go.

      It's just this iPhone thing.....
      Putting the next version of OSX behind because of it? OUCH!
      iPhone Specifications? With the majority of them, welcome to 2005.
      The iPhone is already old tech IMO. Every feature has been destroyed by Nokia and SonyEricsson, bar the touch screen and storage space.

      I am not upset buy your personal insult but i am by the fact that you think I'm a MS fanboy, just because i see the iPhone for what it is.
      My Nokia N95 was the best £130 I ever spent. It will last me for quite some time, and already outspecs the iPhone.

    • Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3chazuk - do you realize that as the megapixel size increases without the sensor size increasing with it (as is very likely the trend in cell phones), image quality actually gets worse? It serves no other purpose than inflating your e-penis. Comparing a 6MP cameraphone, point-and-shoot, and DSLR, with all other things equal (glass, lighting, etc), the DSLR will take the best pics. Why? Bigger sensor. Which means better data. I'd rather have an 800x600 (.5MP) camera in the thing since the sensor will have to extrapolate much less data, so you get better colors and less noise (and a smaller filesize to boot). Phone pics are only good for posting online anyways - it's not like you need print quality out of them.

    Read: A camera phone.

    What would be revolution? Apple extends their jpeg 2000 license to cover phones and that time, magically, some AWESOME pictures begin to be taken without zero (visible) compression artifacts. Thanks to consumer base not demanding anything instead of looking funny as "see, first camera pictures", Apple will happily use Jpeg.

    • ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course, there are optical reasons but you should really check images taken by cell phone cameras zoomed in, you can see that JPEG especially creates artefacts when such low optics are used.

      We speak about 6 GB minimum memory, lets hope at least they keep quality 100% and as OS X scaled down running, they keep colorsync on.

  • Blazer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Meh, my Sony Ericsson W810i takes pictures that look as well if not better, and can even take panoramic pictures where you take 3 seperate shots and they are stitched together by the phone software. I don't really see anything of importance in this "find" other than that it indicates that there are some people out there already using an iPhone. But since the guy seems to be connected to apple, well that's no surprise.

    Don't get me wrong I will be purchasing an iphone hopefully but that sucks how my current phone already has the same camera as a future phone. But hey it is cool having 2mp though pictures look great.

I think a device, as smart as the iphone is, which has sensors to know if it's being held upright or sideways, should be able to automatically rotate the pictures so they're always right side up. But that could be an easy software fix that isn't implemented yet.

      I am not sure about browsers though.

      There is way too much on EXIF data to post to web btw, you should at least get rid of camera serial.

    Touch screen phones have been done before, and they all failed. The moto A1200 has a touch screen too, but its not a giant bar like the iPhone.

    This is really hilarious. It's great to see a company like Apple exploiting the retarded masses like this. It really makes me laugh, IRL. I mean, I get chuckles out of telling macfags their precious OSX is just a modified BSD/Unix distro, and they don't even know what BSD/Unix is!!!! LOL!

    I suppose the best way to make money is to exploit stupid people.
