That's wrong on so many levels...
But it made my whole morning a little bit brighter! I love laughing at unintentional humor. - DFrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Danke shein. :)
- oneMadRssn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Why do we need FireFox for MAC on USB stick....Mac OS X has a Competent Browser unlike Windows"
Safari is hardly competent. I use only firefox on my mac. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol @ dfrag.

http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/ - ZicklePop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Couldn't you just drag the DMG or the Application on to the stick? Why do you need this?
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"There's one for Windows?!

- Ben - jasqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone have a good place to find some actual usb drives on the cheap?
I'm looking for 256 or 512mb, has to have a little keychain hook though. :-) - ralcocer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's also PortableThunderbird and PortableSunbird. I have PortableThunderbird on my 1GB USB stick...that's may main mail client...and I take it with me everywhere.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The link to download the Mac OS X/Windows XP version of Portable Firefox given in the Macslash news story - http://www.theplaceforitall.com/portablefirefox - seems to be dead. I just keep getting "www.theplaceforitall.com/ could not be found. Please check the spelling and try again".
Same happens when I tried getting there through a Google search, or other websites
Anyone know where else the cross-platform Portable Firefox can be downloaded from?
Ta. - Ch1x0rofDeath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Clemontor, i'm in college and work for a big technical corporation on off-quarters. Although i don't know what your business allows, there are no restrictions to using usb devices at either of my locations. A Firefox installation on a usb device therefore can be used. USB sticks simplify data transfer and are very commonly used also at both places. At work i can download and install any browser to my own computer, so I am not breaking any security rules by using my own Firefox install. I use usb Firefox simply so i dont have to reapply the same browser settings (bookmarks etc) everytime i am on a different computer. Likewise, if i add more bookmarks or passwords i only have to add them to one firefox installation. And it sounds like your friends arent very tech savvy if they would think it odd if you plugged a mini storage device into their computers. In fact maybe you can impress them by whipping one of these babies out! Really i don't see anything that "circumvents security" about this at all. Firefox is more secure than IE after all, isn't it? Hope this helped with your understanding.
- dramatools, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg for bringing such a cool Windows app to Mac OS X. I love Portable Firefox because it lets me use my favorite browser wherever I go. As a long-time user of both Macs and Windows PC's, I've been waiting for a multiplatform version of PF. Now, if we can just get a universal Portable Thunderbird...
- bstanfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So I keep hearing about this Digg phenomenon, and finally decided to check it out this morning. And then I see the top story points to something I posted at MacSlash. It must be a sign this place really is as cool as everyone's said. :)
- clemonator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Drew I assume your replying to me so I'll reply back. I completely appreciate the key logging prevention stuff-however I am just asking for an actual practical use of it. It's all good and well saying you can walk up and plug the thumb into a machine and run your stuff, but in reality how often COULD you do so? I think it's terrific use of technology but am asking it's real world applications. My thought since most people won't be able to use this method to circumvent key loggers and public terminals logging their information-don't use public terminals to perform personal actions or make sure and clear the cache and don't ever put your personal information into devices you don't know for sure are safe!
- bedouin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting to see my story dug, since I'm the original submitter to MacSlash. I originally submitted it to Digg as well, but the URL to Portable Firefox for Mac was rejected, not because of being a dupe either, but some other error that escapes me.
- clemonator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know what all the excitement is about this. At home I use what I want - when I come to work I use what work tells me. Both the IT department and my employer wouldn't be too pleased with me using a device that allows me to circumvent their security. Not to mention the fact that I nor my friends would be too appreciative if going to either house and plugging in a device and doing what I want.
I would assume this would be the case at Colleges, Libraries, etc. Am I wrong? where does this come into play? give me some understanding on this! - DFrag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0There's one for Windows?!
Where it's at? - Nick_Circosta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why do we need FireFox for MAC on USB stick....Mac OS X has a Competent Browser unlike Windows...Sigh -Digg
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0that is awsome
but i need a linux&windows version, but i guess that can do for now...
