Fiber of space/time ripped apart by Leopard
flickr.com — This is what happens when you double screen share in leopard. These are two separate macs and we actually had some functionality in the screen sharing.

- clak, on 11/25/2007, -32/+17At first I didn't get this, but now I see that one of you guys initiated a screen share in iChat and then the other guy initiated a screen share without ending the first and it produced the sort of effect you get when you put a mirror in front of another mirror. Pretty cool. I might try that the next time I screen share with someone.
- Terc, on 11/25/2007, -6/+30...Yeah. Front page, pictures of something pointless. Again. Welcome to the myspace/youtube user controlled Digg. I remember a day when useful tech industry NEWS was posted on these pages.
- 232430, on 11/25/2007, -12/+3Stop complaining there are other places you can go.
- Terc, on 11/25/2007, -1/+2You're right, there are, and I go there, however, little brats like you have ruined what used to be my top choice.
- 232430, on 11/26/2007, -0/+1I am not a little brat, and if you took the time to at least read my profile before you judged me, you would find that I rarely comment and have never submitted, so I don't think you can fairly say I have contributed in anyway to digg's 'downfall'. What do you think you achieve by commenting on a story you don't like and saying digg is turning crap, are you helping digg? I know you submit stuff, and yes it seems like "useful" tech news but you're comment doesn't help anyone and that's what I was pointing out.

- rompom7, on 11/25/2007, -1/+10Fry: Well, usually on the show someone would come up with a complicated plan then explain it with a simple analogy.
Leela: Hmm. If we can re-route engine power through the primary weapons and reconfigure them to Melllvar's frequency, that should overload his electro-quantum structure.
Bender: Like putting too much air in a balloon!
Fry: Of course! It's so simple!
- rbond, on 11/25/2007, -0/+5Just "Make it so!"
- ghinch, on 11/25/2007, -0/+3Of course! We can just recalibrate the deflector array to do that!

Oh wait, they've never used VNC before. Of course. Let the little children live in their delusion of grandeur.- ZeDJS, on 11/25/2007, -6/+25Well said, lol.
- OrangeTide, on 11/25/2007, -0/+14Most VNC clients try to hack around this effect (at least for the simple cases) because it can spray out a lot of packets. It's basically a recursive protocol hack, amusing to watch.
- frazw, on 11/25/2007, -1/+15Only looked at the comments to find one about vnc or post it. I knew I couldn't be the only one...
- Firehed, on 11/25/2007, -1/+6Of course not. I'm sure we've all tried it before. I got a three-way going the other night, which I must say was more fun than the typical two-user experience and beat the hell out of the solo approach.
- Bonekhan, on 11/25/2007, -0/+22Are we talking about VNC anymore?
- Firehed, on 11/25/2007, -1/+6Of course not. I'm sure we've all tried it before. I got a three-way going the other night, which I must say was more fun than the typical two-user experience and beat the hell out of the solo approach.

fabric is made of fibers! - arjie, on 11/25/2007, -1/+6You, sir, have not heard of String Theory.
- Firehed, on 11/25/2007, -0/+5Or Leopard's new spacey backgrounds.
- KrashTheMighty, on 11/25/2007, -0/+2ahh pseudoscience!
- rompom7, on 11/25/2007, -2/+1arjie: There are no 'fibers' in string theory... There are strings, branes, and 11 dimensions. But no 'fibers of space/time'.
- OptimismPrime, on 11/26/2007, -0/+1By 'String Theory' are you reffering to the one where it states that the more geeky you are, the less likely you will ever see a string tanga on a live female specimen.

- weirdlookinguy, on 11/25/2007, -4/+62It's like when the camera is connected to the TV and you point the camera at the screen..... except geekier.
- choopie911, on 11/25/2007, -3/+4How exactly did they pull that off? I tried to screenshare, then share the other and it wont let you :S
- master_of_fm, on 11/25/2007, -4/+3i did something similar with logmein.com the other day, it was mildy amusing
- stalefries, on 11/25/2007, -0/+1Last I checked, logmein uses VNC as well.
- Ohimesama, on 11/25/2007, -4/+1Yay!
- gklitt, on 11/25/2007, -3/+42Be careful with this trick. The FCC hasn't figured out it's guidelines for spacetime continuum bending yet. Better wait till we have a certified version.

- cygnus2112, on 11/25/2007, -16/+6Sharing a Mac is like sharing herpes. You don't really care when people you don't like get infected.
- dpvu, on 11/25/2007, -1/+8The same kind of thing happens if you use RealVNC and then connect to the service with the machine running the service. I'm not sure what possessed me to try that...
- frazw, on 11/25/2007, -0/+5Done it by mistake before, forgot where I was.... :)

- MrMongoose, on 11/25/2007, -0/+2Never mind, OP is correct. Crap.
- DigitAl56K, on 11/25/2007, -0/+10It's not really infinite either because eventually the entire sample area is wholly contained within a single pixel, and further sampling will yield no more information.

- phenolholic, on 11/25/2007, -6/+12how dare you equate the framework of matter and energy to an apple app

- ferrariman60, on 11/25/2007, -3/+34I did this with Vista meeting space or whatever it's called in May. Entertaining? For about 5 seconds, sure, why not? Digg worthy? I think not. Sorry.
- gheide, on 11/25/2007, -0/+3TightVNC will control the mac destop from xp or linux (enable desktop sharing)... then use "chicken of the VNC" from the mac to control the pc...a bigger mnd-boggling effect.
- Firehed, on 11/25/2007, -0/+2How's it more mind-boggling? It's exactly the same thing - screen sharing IS VNC, just as the remote desktop settings under the Sharing preference pane is (well, I'm not sure if it was identical, but any VNC client I tried could connect in so it must have been close enough).
The only thing about it I can say is that it makes a half-decent way to test your new networking equipment :D

- sfacets, on 11/25/2007, -3/+4This happens with all VNC programs. No big deal.
- OrangeTide, on 11/25/2007, -2/+1Most of them prevent you from doing it on localhost though. which is a shame because doing it with just one machine seems like a lot more fun.
- rhavenn, on 11/25/2007, -0/+0Just don't try firing up a VMWare Server Console and view the session of a box you terminal served in to. It turns your box into a block of ice for about 10 minutes. Wee...real fun on a production server when all the services go *bloop*.

Yes Marge, it seems like yesterday they wanted right-clicking. But remember too that they got a phone for their very own last week. Didn't you notice them jumping on the beds and carrying on all night!- GreenAlien, on 11/25/2007, -2/+7Or maybe you just lost your sense of humour in your old age.
