- the_mole1314, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26FIREFLY! YES! But damn, no Family Guy or Simpsons (or Futurama?)
- galfridus73, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15If you watch the sales, the Firefly DVD set can be had for $20 at some places. Think about that before spending $28 on the iTMS versions.
- danielbower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9agreed.
Apple really do need to start making some video deals outside the US if they want to keep the attention of the British public. Deals with the BBC and the Premiership would be amoung my first ports of call. Also sort it out and get licenses for US shows to be distributed in the UK.
I hate it when I want to give money to people but can't it's just so ilogical. - TWiThead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"House" is produced by NBC Universal. Fox owns the U.S. broadcast rights, but not the distribution rights.
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I really wish the non-US iTMS would start to get some of this stuff. The UK store is a barren wasteland where video content is concerned.
So help me I'd even buy 'Knight Rider' if it meant I could get some other stuff. - neo7779, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What About HOUSE. I love that show.
- ArcaneDevice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+624 is shot in 720p.
- unfinity, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9But with iTunes you can be watching it in 5 minutes. That's what you're paying the premium for. That, and getting it on your iPod with zero effort.
What people who read sites like Digg forget is that just because it's easy for us to rip DVDs into different formats to use as we please, that doesn't mean it's easy for Joe Computeruser. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No Arrested Development? Come on!
- NtroP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@jocknerd
I own the Firefly DVD set. I had to rip it to my iPod. I worked fine, but was a pain in the ass and took a lot of time. Right now my DVD is sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I've pulled my iPod out about 10 times at different people's houses to show them an episode of Firefly - many have gone on to buy the DVD. The point is, if I didn't own the DVD, I'd skip the first step and be willing to download it from iTunes. I know it's probably just me, but, with the way I watch TV, the iPod is the best match.
When I build my own "TiVo"- type setup, then I might worry more about ripping my DVD collection into higher-res (I have a 1080i HD widescreen TV). But until then, the iPod resolution is still WAY better than any reception I can get over the air and living where I do (Alaska) It's a pain to get to a "Walmart" and mail takes forever. The $6 premium barely makes up for gas, let alone my time.
BTW, I tried to buy 24 but the iTMS said that "The item is not available - it is being modified". WTF? - quentinp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You can get Firefly on DVD for like $20.00, off of iTunes it would cost what, $26.00 for lower quality.
- palakt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6If only it were available in Canada:(
- jhunt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sweet.
NOW COME TO CANADA GOD DAMN IT! - macboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5where are the simpsons and family guy?
- jocknerd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7QuentinP,
Why do you want to go and spoil the fun for the iTunes fanboys? They don't care that you can get better quality for less. Its not what Steve has for sale. Thats all that matters. If Steve tells them to buy a 320x240 resolution version of Firefly and pay more than the DVD, dammit, thats what they are going to do. - Darthpip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yay! 24 on my iPod... there is nothing sweeter... I bought a season pass for season 5, I hope they get previous seasons.
- MediaShipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Shield is on there too now!!
- MediaShipper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There are NO good episodes of Lost In Space!
- rob08, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i like whenever news come out stating that itunes offers more media content on itms, but when, oh when, will it be possible for us outside the US to download movies and tv-series?
- hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Buffy is a classic?
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What no Family Guy!
- SeptBoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2party hard ANorton
- dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dammit! Wish I hadn't read the part about "Lost In Space." I know it does not compute, but I still love that show!
- fishnchips, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Please please please bring this to the UK Apple!
- gorman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Because that was posted as I had already started writing this. When it did the duplication check, it hadn't been posted yet.
- typo180, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3[re: FOX doesn't deserve to make money...]
FOX owns the distribution rights, they get money no matter where you buy the episodes. If you want to support the show, you've got to pay for it. - Goosemaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although Newscorps capitulation in this manner to another distributor marks a milestone, I guess most of us can agree that the quality has a ways to go before it invadidates the old buy-rip-and-burn method using DVDs.
- djbelieve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone out there know the file size of a typical episode? I have a satellite internet connection and have to watch my bandwidth. Thanks for any help.
- latour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i rather download prison break in 720p and watch it on my 52" then pay 1.99 for crap quality. I'm going to buy the DVD when it comes out in aug anyway.
- DesertSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Everyone should check out "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", easily one of the funniest and darkest shows on television. Start with the episode "The Gang Finds a Dead Guy"
- loriencfau, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I will gladly pay to watch Keifer Sutherland do his thing in real, American currency.
- RandomWhim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2TWiThead: Thanks, I had no idea about NBC being involved. I bet there's a logo in there somewhere towards the end credits that I never noticed.
- Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unan1mous is the worst show on television.
Hopefully a hundred million people will download FireFly and they'll make a Serenity sequel. - stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2 It has to do with copyright law and royalties. You can't just through US content into another country's market. You have to work out the different royalty payments, taxes, and other regulations. That's why it took apple so long to get the iTunes store to other countries (working with attorneys to get the copyright law/royalties/etc legal!)
The US content will come there eventually. - DesertSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Damn, even in death, Arrested Development can't catch a break
- mdnash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1each episdoe is about 107 mb .. the download really quickly
- jcdickerson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"WARNING WARNING! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! THE FIRST SEASON OF LOST IN SPACE IS TOO EXPENSIVE!" $49.99? Uh... No. And why do they only have the first season? Some of the best episodes are in the second year...
/geek mode off - mdnash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1still no arrested development....
- terrenceisdaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1also, the firefly seires is out of order - damn fox
- djbelieve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thank you!
- MediaShipper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Limewire is going the way of the dodo very soon!
- lieb39, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just go on eBay USA, buy a US iTunes gift card, the guy will email you the PIN for the store. Problem solved :)
No need for a US address or a Credit Card, and it costs the same as the gift card normally. - amalik49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"...the guy in the $2000 pants? COME ON!"
- gdrewpowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That explains why reruns are on USA network... Damn mergers anyway.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Already using FIOS - it rocks!
My cable went out last night and I had to (unfortunately for Fox) dl 5-21 from pirate bay just to watch the show. Out of sync by the end (common folks learn the difference between 24fps and 29.97fps) but would have gladly paid for it if it on itunes last night! - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or House M.D. How can they do this to me?? Come on Fox, I'm begging you!! Moments without Dr. Cameron are hardly worth living!
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4ahh, need better quality. I'm sorry, but 24 is not worth 48 dollars for sub-par quality, nor 60 for 480P. I'm waiting till you can buy it on HD-DVD or Bluray. 1080P baby!
- guitarmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not including famliy guy and the simpsons is a big mistake, they would make tons of sales, especially with family guy. Hopefully they will add them soon.
- LordJezo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Any word on if Fox is going to do this for free like ABC and now CBS (at least planning on it) are doing it?
- Avian00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Judging by my negative diggs, I guess I AM the only one.
What's the deal with people? Don't you all realize how quickly $1.99 per episode adds up?! You may as well buy the DVD box set! -
