Looks like I'm buying an iPhone, can't wait to get rid of the POS Mobile Media 5 'smartphone'. It's so smart I have to reboot it daily because the stupid thing locks up randomly.

I bought an iphone last night....dont plan to stay with att so why get stuck in a 2 yr contract...cant wait to use the iphone with Tmobile...im a 7 yr loyal customer to Tmobile...loyal to apple too...who gives a F about ATT.

How many more stories on unlocking the iPhone can digg handle?

If you heard, the iPhoneSIMFree guys are being a bit shady right now. They sent out invoices (requests for payment) for their solution, then when one place paid, they said they had changed their receiving account and to please submit payment again.

Looking awfully iffy now.

Video? Unless it shows one uncut shot from the box being bought at an Apple store to the hack being installed, how do you know anything about the phone used in the video?

I would be able to believe what they are saying, if they would actually release something...

I'm already on the AT&T network on a family plan, but I really don't want to sign a 2-year commitment (I'll be leaving the country in a few months for a while). If I unlock the phone, will I be able to use my current SIM card, without the 2 year contract? Also, will I be able to use the EDGE network, and would I be able to get an unlimited data plan that would work with the iphone?

while this is most likely legit, it would be better to have a video that first demonstrates that the phone is first in a locked state, and *then* runs the unlock software

How long before the hack is out to hack this software so we dont need to pay to unlock the iphone.. Locking phones is wrong, locking the unlocking software is evil. Screw ATT and these dweebs trying to make a buck off of it.

Why does it matter of the carrier? They all suck anyways...
Also, why would anybody call for "support" to begin with? I hear all these horror stories of trying to get help.

I really dont understand why they charge to unlock a phone? Why does an industry that does this exist? Surely the same people who can hack AACS or other crazy protections can also hack this stuff, and release the unlocker for free? Or am I mistaken and there's some material cost involved here?

I'm all for programmers getting paid for their hard work. But really, how many people are going to do this? All the cell phone providers seem about the same to me. There are easy ways to get out of your cell phone contract (ie roam a lot until they end your contract) to switch to AT&T. Is AT&T that bad? Plus I think the visual voice mail is highly underrated as a feature. I have trouble seeing who exactly these hacker's target market is. I wish them the best, but I can't see how this is going to make them rich.

re: torrenting/ pirating this s/w - it's doing a ton of phoning home with the iPhone's IMEI to verify the licence, and who's better at protecting their own software than hackers?

Someone will reverse engineer it to remove the authentication feature, meaning that it won't phone home and you will be able to unlock your iPhone for free.

why is he not making the call from the dock as he was trying - until it picked up T-mobile- the next frame he has the mobile in his hand. its all just bogus - dont buy it. its one of the biggest scams at the moment. its like i have this car and it runs on water - wanna see me fill it up - ops new frame new car and it revs perfectly - god im so boooooooooooooooored of all these ... i have a an unlock fopr the iphone............

I still think this a scam. How do we know it was not hardware hacked before the video/during the video? Release the damn software if you want to be believed... Oh wait, you can't because it doesn't exist! But you'll be rich by the time we get to know that, right?
