Exclusive: Sneak Peek of the 3G iPhone OS
blog.wired.com — First off, we noticed the camera gave us this message before we were ready to snap a picture. Obviously, the fact that the camera wants to know your position is tied into the addition on GPS on the handset.

- Eminemdrdre00, on 07/08/2008, -6/+47Nice, but did he really need to keep the ugly case on the beautiful iPhone for this demo?
- sump22, on 07/08/2008, -2/+4Who cares what case is on it?
- Weip, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3I love the case. Anyone know where can I get one like this?
- themastersb, on 07/08/2008, -0/+6Nice, but did he really need to keep his ugly face on the beautiful iPhone for this demo?
- Nobiting, on 07/08/2008, -18/+19The first two pictures are straight out of Vista. Oh the irony.
- noahhoward, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4How so?
- j0ew00ds, on 07/08/2008, -1/+13--Application-- would like to --Action--.
Confirm/Deny. - MaskingTape, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Would you rather it tag your photo's without you know it?
- noahhoward, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2That could land you into a sticky situation when your wife sees your latest mugshot was taken in your ex's house.
- j0ew00ds, on 07/08/2008, -1/+13--Application-- would like to --Action--.
- Baryn, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2"Irony" implies that this is unexpected. The OS makers rip off each other all the time.
- noahhoward, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4How so?
- tinoproductions, on 07/08/2008, -6/+1Lucky Boy!
- maxthreepwood, on 07/08/2008, -3/+9Exclusive? This is old. http://digg.com/apple/IPhone_2_0_Video_ITunes_7_Co ...
Buried. - The2ndAct, on 07/08/2008, -0/+68It's 6 pictures showcasing 3 features. Boring.
- DanBoodro, on 07/08/2008, -2/+10Although, I wouldn't exactly call this exclusive nor a sneak peek, they are some nice high res close ups of what's to come this Friday, and I still cant wait.
- dizilbdog, on 07/08/2008, -7/+10I think I"m going to wait for the Iphone 3, this 2 version is Meh.
- MattBD, on 07/08/2008, -5/+6I reckon Android will be better.
- dizilbdog, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3I hope and maybe even Android running on Wimax.
- MattBD, on 07/08/2008, -5/+6I reckon Android will be better.
- londonmoon85, on 07/08/2008, -5/+1This iphone looks pretty cool though!
- Fast05GT, on 07/08/2008, -8/+8If they only made the iPhone for Verizon.....
- noahhoward, on 07/08/2008, -0/+21Verizon would strip off OSX and put on whatever ***** they call an operating system
- digitaldeity, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0Verizon did get the exclusive rights to the Blackberry Thunder. Although, I doubt this will make you a happy camper.
- Halligan, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Apple wanted an exclusive deal and actually did approach VZW prior to AT&T. VZW turned them down. It would have been a trade off though. Faster data network, but wouldn't have worked outside of North America.
- Baryn, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Who cares about stupid ***** outside of North America? ***** poor people without homes and school in Europe, military governments in South America, non-Christian blasphemers in Africa, and terrorists in Asia.
Verizon Wireless!! Windows!!! BILL GATES KING OF TECH!!!!!
- Baryn, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Who cares about stupid ***** outside of North America? ***** poor people without homes and school in Europe, military governments in South America, non-Christian blasphemers in Africa, and terrorists in Asia.

- chetanthaker, on 07/08/2008, -4/+4What case is this guy using ??
- AppleGeorge, on 07/08/2008, -2/+12An ugly one.
- pattywack, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2They sell this "ugly one" at the AT&T store... I got it with my phone for Christmas as a gift from my dad. Mine lives somewhere under my bed.
- flawless1979, on 07/08/2008, -3/+3so this is what jim does when he is not hanging out with dwight out of the office.
- xsecretfiles, on 07/08/2008, -1/+9Oh I see, it's a sneak peek of a review
how exciting!
'
NOT - AppleGeorge, on 07/08/2008, -2/+6How is this new? This was shown weeks ago. Oh, and the firmware was leaked what, a month ago? Awesome sneak peak.
/sarcasm, - SonicEarth, on 07/08/2008, -0/+16Buried, as there is a more in-depth video from Apple.
- xEn1gma, on 07/08/2008, -8/+3I love Apple Marketing...
"Contacts: Amy Winehouse"
Biscottis. - roil, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4like... is that all? It's a tease not a review.
- phoomp, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3It's not even a tease. The reviewer is acting like he's got exclusive pics of the first iPhone.
- JK1150, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3do you have to allow the camera to use ur location everytime?? i thought it was just once. that will get a bit annoying...
- freebird09, on 07/08/2008, -1/+0I guess you will be able to turn the location-based stuff off though. That was basically the only good piece of info in this article, aside from the e-mail refresh option.
- JK1150, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1i think the location based stuff is cool, but i don't want to have to allow it all the time.
- phoomp, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2... which we already knew about ...
- freebird09, on 07/08/2008, -1/+0I guess you will be able to turn the location-based stuff off though. That was basically the only good piece of info in this article, aside from the e-mail refresh option.
- pathouston22, on 07/08/2008, -6/+0Jesus christ what is with all this iPhone 3g ***** recently on digg? What, is there not enough Obama articles to keep the news flowing?
- newsreader123, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0LOL
- coldfusion1970, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1My guess is that there may be a new iPhone launching some time soon?
- MMaster23, on 07/08/2008, -2/+31Exclusive: emo boy takes pictures of himself with iPhone
- yoda17, on 07/08/2008, -4/+3I was expecting message passing, memory management and interrupt handling.
This is just pictures of a GUI and has nothing to do with an OS.- SteveMax, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Did you read your address bar? You're on Digg, deep technical stories don't get popular here.
- anxcaptain, on 07/08/2008, -4/+3Emo pictures of the Iphone?
- richardbeasimer, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Somebody needs a manicure.
- NathanielJ, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3People need to learn how to resize images so that they don't look like wavy ***** when they're scrunched down to the width of a blog column.
- Azdak, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4omg...IT'S SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT!!1
- Demek2010, on 07/08/2008, -2/+1Peter from Heroes??
- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1It's not like it's a new OS by any means, just a version upgrade and the app store. The focus should be on the new apps.
- phoomp, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1meh
- jizzypop, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3thanks, we really needed to see your blurry head in each one of those pictures.
- gunnmjk, on 07/08/2008, -3/+1Sorry to break it to all the people that dugg this up, but this is the same iPhone 2.0 OS Firmware that people will be able to install on their revision 1 iPhones. Maxthreepwood got it right, and this is simply the leaked firmware installed on an old iPhone.
- borg359, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1I love how searching contacts is an amazing new feature.
- MrFurious2k, on 07/08/2008, -2/+1I get strong memento vibes from this.
- seaner, on 07/08/2008, -3/+1If the phone didn't have the GPS hardware then it should have greyed out the "Location Services" tab. This is what it does with the Wifi, etc when you break it.
- PosedMagnet, on 07/08/2008, -2/+0Mkay, where's the rest of the article?
- leans, on 07/08/2008, -1/+0nailbiter
- stu0590, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Can someone clarify something for me? Does the iPhone support push e-mail or just corporate e-mail? The article mentions the ability to sync e-mail every 15, 30 or 60 minutes. My understanding of Push e-mail (i.e. Blackberry and Good) would push the e-mail to the device when it is received by the server. Not sync it periodically.
- SupaPuerco, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1The sync times are for non-push email.
- DesdinovaEL, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1All of this information except the camera location feature is on apple.com. Not exactly news or exclusive.
- sethrubenstein, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Gets dugg because the article is quite funny to start.
- sbga420, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0big deal, it looks exactly like the old one.
- ilgaz, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1I would keep BT off too, what is the use of it except headphones? :)
- MYarms, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1All this awesomeness for only 9 zillion dollars a month. No thanks.
- mirq, on 07/09/2008, -0/+12.0 releasing today?
What will I need for my iPhone or iPod touch to use MobileMe?
You will need to update to software version 2.0 or later to enable push mail, push contacts, push calendar, and push bookmarks. This software update will be available when MobileMe launches. - thuimeeha, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0cool
