- BlueLaser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22It's not the Digg effect...it's the Apple Event Effect :(
- axiomata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Gapless playback. About damn time.
- Cander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Sync iPod to a 2nd computer? Sweet!
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Where's Senator Stevens? The tubes are clogged!
- axiomata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Many albums have a smooth transitions between tracks (ie Pink Floyd was used in the keynote). When you play a CD of one of these albums you do not notice the track change but for iPods there is a split second of silence between track changes that can really disrupt the flow. Gapless playback was one of the features that MiniDiscs had that I really missed when I got an iPod.
- lilmoonee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10holy crap he isnt wearing a black shirt!!!!
- replica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Where is the Video Airport?
- nugge7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8iTunes will give you cover art for free if you are missing cover art (thanks Steve)
sweet! - dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+710:28 am iLounge: TV shows are now encoded at 640x480 (h264), up from 320x240
- rtoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8What a letdown with the Ipod changes. Price and battery... oh goodie! one word Steve, "lame!"
- spaemo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6OMG. Did they completely rip off Cover Flow or WHAT? Did they pay anything? Is Apple ready to start Microsoft copy-and-paste buzziness?
It will be pathetic if they didn't pay anything. - mrhaines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6low res drm movies that are overpriced...lame.
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Actually if Apple only added AM tuner. Why do I need FM if I have thousands of music songs on my iPod. However, I could really go for an AM iPod so I can also listen to talk radio when I get bored of songs.
- kevinrosesmom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Apple didn't have you all worked up. The rumor mill did. Stop listening to rampant speculation, and you won't be so dissapointed that Apple didn't cure cancer this time around.
- dizzybastard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8No widescreen ipod =(
- JeremiahLBurns, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Apple to provide free iTunes Cover Art! Thank-you Apple!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11lol movies are at 640x480 "near DVD quality"
no thanks. with a few $ more i can get it on DVD, with better picture/sound quality plus all those fun extras. and then i can do whatever the hell i want with it.
you suck apple. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Now what about multiple iPods under different accounts syncing to the same machine...
- bluedayfading, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm just waiting for the iphone to ring in his pocket..
- loriencfau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Uh, we still have "One last thing". Are you new to this?
- bignate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5itunes7 = 12.99 for a new movie, low quality, drm
target = 12.99 for a new movie, DVD wuality, can rip, copy, re-encode, etc.
I was really expecting Apple to step up and make DVD quality, burnable movies a reality. Very dissapointing. - replica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Zune can not compete with a brighter screen and a belt clip. Great job, Apple.
- wired4u, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Looks like Engadget is down, talk about the Digg effect.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Man...these new iPods are going to KILL Zune!
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5whats the point of 1680x1050 if the movie is 640??? thats a third of the screen on a 20 inch screen
- Royal0rleans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Video Stream=Doesn't Work
- molecool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree - ;unless there's a widescreen iPod I'm ordering my Archos tomorrow. Love Apple products but I've been patient for a loooooooong time. Lets' hope for the best.
- kevincannon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5tommertron - it hasn't been taken down by digg. It's usually very busy anyway for these events.
- soundboy64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I wish Engadget would do this like macrumors.com does with AJAX, as relaoding the page constantly over loads the server and locks a lot of people out. But yea, I'm stuck at work today so I can't really watch the live Apple feed...
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Gapless - check. Longer batter life - check. Killer prices - check. If only Apple added an FM tuner (which, really, no one really cares about), the iPod haters would have absolutely nothing to say after this announcement.
- loriencfau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think that was it ... bummer.
- nugge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Are all the new features for the iPod for the new enhanced ipod or will this come with the ipod software? Sorry for the dumb question. :-/
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There is none. It's the same streaming video offered after EVERY announcment. The page is there, but the video isn't hosted yet.
Here's the link anyhow
http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/sep_2006/event/index.html - P5ycHo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They need to get it right the first time around.

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2006/09/dsc_0993.jpg - itsrainin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ya let me know how that live stream goes....
- replica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Don`t forget the belt clip.
- gabeN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8If you want all the functionality of the iTV, and then some.. go with either:
Xbox 360 / MCE
or
Modded xbox...
Both stream videos, the latter with no DRM, both are cheaper than a iTV/iMac combo, and the former offers live TV/HDTV streaming support as well as TiVo functionality...
This is a no-brainer people... Low res video, high price point, no live TV, and DRM? $300 for functionality that has been on the market for almost 5 years???
I'm sorry apple, send me an iPhone, or at least a wide-screen iPod and I'll be happy, but until then, it's Microsoft FTW...
And one more thing...
Jobs can blow me. - Dogtown7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I"m glad Zune won't be proprietary and back DRM.
- thor17usa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was really hoping for the widescreen video ipod with a touchpad screen...but not this time around.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5A limited selection of overpriced "almost DVD quality" movies with DRM was the ONE MORE THING ??? How Lame !!! that fool can`t even afford his black turtlenecks anymore. BTW tOSHIBA gigabeat V gets 8 hours of widescreen video...they make the Zune..
- JeremiahLBurns, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Sorry. Call me a n00b if you must. But I've had my iPod for years...and I'm not sure what 'gapless playback' is? Help? or bury me. Whatever. ;-)
- psychotron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm still waiting for my iPod Pequeño. Yup, the size of a thumbnail, holds one million songs and has a calendar that goes 7,000 years into the future.
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah. It also goes to show that most of the Apple rumors posted on Digg over the past six months were total *****.
- kolywater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Q1 2007 'Completes the story'
"Apple is releasing its long-rumored set-top box in Q1 2007. It will be Wireless"

1GB - $79 - Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hate to say it, but I agree. They haven't really done much in the past year since the Nano was released. In the mean time, the competition is doing lots. If Apple wants to keep the lead, we need that widescreen device that everyone has been speculating about...
- MyPlasticHeart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3iTV:
1/2 size of Mac Mini, built-in power supply, USB, Ethernet, 802.11 "wireless component video", optical audio and HDMI ports, plus old RCA stereo audio ports. Works with Apple Remote - Kozy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3One more thing is John Legend?!?
...
:( - MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dizzy,
I agree. Not releasing a wider screen full size iPod is a disappointment. While the new prices look pretty good and some new features are certainly welcome, not have at least a 4 inch screen makes it IMO not that great for watching video. -
