- TheDude01, on 03/17/2009, -2/+58I think that every Apple iPhone app should work in both horizontal and vertical mode. Especially SMS & email!!!

That's about it.
What I want.
1. MMS
2. Background apps, or at least multitasking of some sort.
3. Push email
The rest is gravy, the three I've listed are must haves. - motivatedguy, on 03/17/2009, -1/+22Cut & Paste... BEHOLD! EXCALIBUR!!!
- gr33nie, on 03/17/2009, -2/+23It's great to see near-live updates coming in from this Apple event but I don't think I'll be the first person to say that Engadget are real douchebags when it comes to making comments on announcements. If it's not something completely revolutionary that they can gush over in other posts for days to come then it's the usual "Next up, Oracle. Next up, we take a nap." ***** from them.
- motivatedguy, on 03/17/2009, -0/+21Garmin and Tom Tom will be all over it with an app
- boozedrinker, on 03/17/2009, -3/+23Turn by turn GPS? ***** yes.
- mudpuddle, on 03/17/2009, -0/+19Wow, an FPS that lets me upgrade my weapons by purchasing them with real money! Next we can get rid of colored door keys and puzzles and replace them with in-game $5 toll booths!
- Sonique99, on 03/17/2009, -19/+37I predict disappointment.
- inactive, on 03/17/2009, -4/+21Really? You dont see the point of mms. How about every other damn phone has em, and i get them all the time. At&t's site is awful and never works. I can't cut and paste to get the images anyway, and they dont link with the username passcode.
Change the system, or allow mms. either way, I dont care, just let me get my images.
It's a pain in the ass to explain to everyone that I have an iphone, and it doesn't support that feature. - Wilddigi, on 03/17/2009, -1/+17Blood pressure machine connected to my iPhone. This is what I always wanted.
- eobet, on 03/17/2009, -2/+18"In-app purchase"? Apps I already paid for pestering me to buy new things for them? Periodically even?
Oh, I do hope that the iTunes store clearly labels those apps, so I can say very, very far away from them. - motivatedguy, on 03/17/2009, -1/+16If I had diabeetis I'd be pretty stoked!
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 03/17/2009, -0/+14You misunderstand what peer-to-peer really means.
- arch3r, on 03/17/2009, -0/+13You can also get live updates at Ars Technica.
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2009/03/live-ars ... - inactive, on 03/17/2009, -3/+16It's not the same without Steve.
- pak314, on 03/17/2009, -1/+14Oh and one more thing... could the person with the white minivan please move it because its blocking the driveway.
- mohsenxp, on 03/17/2009, -1/+14Yeah I didn't like that comment.
Way to keep it professional. - inactive, on 03/17/2009, -0/+12MMS support is in!!!!
- boozedrinker, on 03/17/2009, -3/+15Out of nowhere P2P gaming....WOOHOO! No more local network *****!
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 03/17/2009, -0/+11Looks like you got it.
- rossisdead, on 03/17/2009, -2/+13"What about the rest of us? iPhone OS 3.0 will be available this Summer. A free update to all of our iPhone 3G customers. And it works on the original iPhone. Now the hardware has changed between these two devices. For instance, A2DP and MMS won't be available on the iPhone 1st gen. "
What the ***** special hardware is needed in order to get a ***** MMS message? - dancecmdr, on 03/17/2009, -2/+12Third party hardware?
***** yes. - eyepatch100, on 03/17/2009, -1/+11MMS Confirmed!
- vawksel, on 03/17/2009, -1/+11Not having MMS is a pain in the ass.
1) I often find myself wanting to send a photo to a friend that I _know_ isn't home. They don't have an iPhone and no easy way of checking e-mail on their phone. I do this a lot, and it's ***** annoying.
2) When I receive MMS's from other people, which is all the freaking time, the stupid AT&T website hardly ever works. Also, why the ***** isn't the username/pass in the URL so I don't have to memorize/write it down and type it in? Oh my this is so stupid it borderlines on retarded.
3) Give me the choice. When I receive an MMS, just show the damn picture in the SMS chat log and let me save it to my photos right from there. When I send a photo, let me pick "MMS or Email".
Is it really that hard apple? You do enough to make me conform to your ways, but this one is just crossing the line to me. You're pissing me off. - vawksel, on 03/17/2009, -6/+16Not having MMS is a pain in the ass.

- DTJunkie07, on 03/17/2009, -0/+9MMS confirmed
- eobet, on 03/17/2009, -0/+9Did you see the demonstration just now of the online game where it asked you if you wanted to buy a weapon so you could beat your opponents?
Yes, you buy a game and are completely unable to play it against others, unless you pay more money for upgrades.
That is how they hide costs and either force you to pay more in order to play the game, or don't care that you don't play for an hour beyond your initial purchase, because the already got some money out of you. - phinn, on 03/17/2009, -1/+9In addition to all the usual wishes, i'd like to say Winterboard style theme support would be sweet too. There are so many awesome iphone themes out.
- mohsenxp, on 03/17/2009, -0/+8Copy & Paste has been confirmed :D
- eyepatch100, on 03/17/2009, -0/+8Copy paste works throughout all apps. Nice.
- goeric, on 03/17/2009, -3/+11No MMS on the first-gen iPhone :(
- Gee1004, on 03/17/2009, -3/+11Nothing is coming out today. It's just a preview. July-August time frame
- timusca, on 03/17/2009, -1/+9Boy, you were wrong... lots of new stuff was added.
- carlj133, on 03/17/2009, -1/+9Pretty much summed up what I'm thinking. I'm not confident that Apple will have listened to customer feedback, they never do.
- deslock, on 03/17/2009, -0/+8No background apps confirmed. Push only.
- wh3873, on 03/17/2009, -0/+8I'm pretty sure this is an OS change not a hardware change.
- spar13, on 03/17/2009, -1/+8I predict everyone who wants tethering won't get it because it is a provider problem, not apple
- d3dm, on 03/17/2009, -0/+71000 new APIs in the SDK
Option for app add-on purchase from within the app itself (new game levels, new maps for City Guide, etc.)
P2P connectivity
New APIs that allow apps to control attached peripherals provided by 3rd parties
Google maps can be embedded directly into your app
Push notification support
Still no support for background/multitasking apps
New APIs for A/V streaming and in-game voice - TinFoil209, on 03/17/2009, -0/+7Stereo Bluetooth!
- mohsenxp, on 03/17/2009, -1/+8I don't get what the problem is at all.
Current method:
You buy a game from iTunes. It costs you $2.99
You get 10 levels. You don't complain because that is all you expect to get.
New method:
You buy a agame from iTunes. It costs you $2.99
You get 10 levels. You start complaining because in the future you have to pay for more levels.
Pointless moaning. - rwallen, on 03/17/2009, -0/+7WTF is with all the micropayment crap? $.99 for a rocket launcher quick buy it now!
http://bayimg.com/eAopMAabf - g33kfu, on 03/17/2009, -3/+10Push Notification?
***** yes. - Balanced, on 03/17/2009, -0/+7Refresh it. They saved it for later on.
- alexcroox, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6Realy dont like the idea of the developers having the ability to smack on costing for levels etc when you have already brought the app! What if you buy a game for £5 and ingame you play only a few levels before they try lump on more payments??
- stealthspc, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6Push updates are going to be the *****.
- Muffinhunter, on 03/17/2009, -0/+6COPY PASTE
- Laughto, on 03/17/2009, -1/+7Hah, they're using an email about Oceanic Flight 815 to illustrate copy/paste. Nice.
